Sue made us feel very welcome. The place was perfect and exactly as described. We had a great time!
Sue picked us up from the Camucia-Corotna train station and drove us up to the apartment, showing us the town a bit on the way, which was very generous of her. The apartment is comfortable, well-equipped, safe, and well-located. It's a 15 minute walk uphill from a big grocery store in Camucia and a half hour walk downhill from the beautiful medeaval city Cortona.
Sue has a great place! We felt very welcomed and very comfortable. Sue met us at the station, showed us the condo, and even took us grocery shopping. She was able to answer our questions, but we didn't have many, since the place was so well equipped. The whole space was warm and spacious, the kitchen had everything we needed so that we could cook for ourselves, and there was a lot of space to spread out and really relax. We took a day trip to Assisi, and walked up the hill to cortona, since the apartment is perfectly located for such things. Wonderful place and a wonderful hostess. We would definitely recommend, and would love to return!
it was a pleasure to stay in your condo in Camucia. Thank you for the great time we enjoyed during our one week stay. Special thanks again for picking us up from the station and showing us around the first day. This was a great help! We liked the condo very much and the equipment is excellent. Wish we find some to time to come again. It was so much to do and to see that we had no chance to enjoy the bottle of wine you left in the fridge for us. Maybe you can keep it for us till we come the next time :-)
Sue welcomed us at the condo the moment we arrived. She was very friendly and welcoming, provided us some maps of the area and info on local restaurants and sightseeing oportunities.
Sue's apartment is very well furnished with all the amenities you could wish for. She even has screens on the windows and doors which were the first we ever saw after 8 weeks in Italy. The apt is very close to Cortona a 3 min drive or 20 min walk (uphill). The apt is comfortable for two people and the air conditioning was welcome during the hot afternoons. I recommend staying here if you are visiting Cortina or the surrounding area.
Sue's condo is truly a home away from home! It is equipped with everything you could possibly need, and is very comfortable. We loved sitting out on the patio, relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day of sightseeing! The location is ideal to tour around Tuscany and Umbria, and is just a few minutes drive to the beautiful hill top town of Cortona (an amazing Etruscan town to visit!)
There are many cafés, shops, restaurants and grocery stores (if you want to do your own cooking) in the area. However I recommend having a car to make it easier to get around.
Sue was a pleasure to deal with and always responded to us very quickly. We had originally booked her condo four 4 nights, then left to visit another part of Italy. But we were soon missing the comforts and convenience of our "home away from home" in Tuscany, so we contacted Sue and she graciously accommodated us for another five nights at the last minute!
I highly recommend this condo, and can't wait to return to Italy and stay here again!
It was wonderful having you as guests (twice)!! I appreciate it that you liked my place, and the area, as much as you did. When you come back to the same place for the second time (in Italy) you are considered family!! So you are now family. You now need to come in other seasons. Olive picking season is in November and the "new oil" is really something to remember...... Sue
About the Host, Sue
I love to travel and experience new cultures. I am a retired American who loves everything "Italian." You can tell by the amount of time I spend in Italy. I still have many more cities to visit. Rome is endless. I can never get enough of Rome. Everybody should experience it at least once in a lifetime. I was actually in the audience the night that Pope Francis was elected. It was an amazing experience. There are many beautiful cities throughout Italy waiting to be experienced. I love looking at the architecture. I also like traveling to other countries. One of my other favorite cities is Berlin. I would say that Rome and Berlin are my two favorite cities. They are different, but both share some common characteristics. I love reading, and writing about places I have visited. I am currently working on a travel blog and will have it up and running soon. I have two 16 year old cats that I adore. I enjoy my downtime and spending it with them. Anastasia and Katerina have had some awesome "pet sitters" the last few years.
I have traveled to many countries: Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Monaco, England, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Estonia, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Belgium, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Bahamas, San Marino, and The Vatican. I recently traveled to the United States, Slovenia, Vienna, Cracow, Ravenna and Ferrara in Italy. You must visit Ravenna and see the famous mosaics!
I may travel to the same place twice, but I always travel to at least one new country per year. In 2014 it was Slovenia, 2015 will be Morocco, and 2016 Israel.
I highly recommend traveling to anybody who is inquisitive. It can be done, even on a shoestring. I like renting small apartments when I travel. That way I can fix breakfast or lunch, etc. if I want. It makes me feel like I am at home, and I am really a homebody at heart, so this mode of travel is a must for me. I have enjoyed staying at Airbnb rentals in Berlin, Dresden, La Spezia, Cracow, Rome, Ljubljana, and Vienna. I will try my best to make your stay enjoyable also! I know the area well, and my goal is to help you know it too.
