Interaction with Guests
We are both working professionals so we are not around during the day but we are always available in the evenings and weekends and on the phone if anyone has any questions or queries.
We treat our guests like friends and take great interest in where everyone has come from and what has brought them to Ireland. If we're going for a pint in the local Henchy's pub which is straight across the road, we generally also invite our guests to join us for a chat. In Ireland there is no better way to get to know someone than over a pint :)
Our house is situated right in the middle of the quaint, friendly village of St. Lukes which has many amenities to suit everyone. You'll be a stone's throw away from the famous Henchy's pub with O'Keeffes convenience shop straight across the road which has some of the very best artisan foods in Cork. There is also a post office, butchers, wine bar and many other amenities should you need them.
We generally walk everywhere in Cork as it's only 10 minutes walk into the city centre. If however you're feeling tired or want to save all your energy for the many sightseeing trips you have planned you can get the bus directly from outside the house. You can either get the 207 or 208 bus which will take you right in the city centre or the bus station and ready for a perfect shopping escapade or a trip to Kinsale or Blarney for example!
Off street parking is available near the property.
The bus station is under 5 minutes drive away.
The airport is 20 minutes drive away.
Other Things to Note
We have two lovely and friendly cats in the house, Inca and Penny. Inca is a British Longhair and loves company! Penny, is a British shorthair and loves company even more.
However, if you do not particularly like cats or animals in general, do not hesitate to let us know and we will make sure she stays out of your way as much as possible!
Check-In is 6.30pm. Check-Out is Midday.
If you're looking for a party house, this is not the house for you. We love to socialise and have a good time but we have grown out of parties I'm afraid.
1: If you remember, can you please take off shoes before heading upstairs.
2: We'd expect our guests to feel at home and treat the house/community with respect.
3: It's a non-smoking property but if you're a smoker, you are free to smoke outside either in the back or the front but smoking inside is not allowed.
4: The house and the room is strictly for the person(s) that we have met. You are not allowed to bring anyone else into the house without at least mentioning it to us first. We have no issues at all with you bringing a friend in for tea but going out for the night and bringing a stranger back is now allowed.
5: We have 2 lovely cats who are free to roam the house. If they follow you into a room such as the kitchen/sitting room for e.g. can you please insure you get them back out when you are leaving and to close the door behind you. We try and keep to them to the hall.
6: We’ve had a few issues with towels, mugs and other items being ‘taken’ from the house and who wouldn’t want a souvenir? We’d prefer if you used the souvenir shop in town however.
Peter and I would love to welcome you in our newly refurbished 1901 three-storey house. The bedroom you will be staying in, is on the top floor of the house.
The house is part of a terrace where the movie "Angela's Ashes" was shot. Our house is featured several times! Our claim to fame!
