Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Da Costastraat, Amsterdam, North Holland 1053, Netherlands

Inviting, restful dble bedroom with large private bathroom overlooking lush green garden Designer apartment with marble kitchen, lovely living room wooden floors throughout. A stone's throw from Amsterdam's stunning canals, 5 mins to Anne Frank House

The Space

An oasis in the heart of Amsterdam. In a city where you normally have to contend with carrying your bags up the teeniest, steepest flights of stairs, this flat is a light and airy haven located on the ground floor. Everything is very neutral and light but equally it is super cosy when it is colder out. However, if the weather is good there is also a lovely private garden at the back - a rarity in Amsterdam. Please note that while you will have your own bathroom there is a shared toilet.

Guest Access

Mi casa es tu casa! I want you to feel at home in my home. The Kitchen and Living Area are there if you need them and Garden at back is perfect when the weather is fine. There is Wifi and If required I can provide breakfast and you will always have use of kitchen including coffee machine/kettle/toaster as well as all the basics.

Interaction with Guests

I'll be in and about and am very happy to give you as much or as little information about the city as your need.

The Neighborhood

The street is in Oud-West district of the city, just 2 streets outside Amsterdam centre. There are supermarkets/restaurants/bars at each end of the street but if you're looking for a coffee shop - there's one just a few doors along! This is a friendly neighbourhood full of all ages. A really great place to live. We can give more information about places to shop and eat on request.

Getting around

Getting from the airport is easy - trains run every 15mins to Amsterdam centraal (journey time: 15mins). At the train station there are taxis or trams. Take tram 13 or 17 for 4 stops. (if you miss the stop - no worries - you just get off at the next one which is equally close!) It will take you 11mins and then the flat is a short 5min walk. We are 10 mins walk from the Westerkerk and the Anne Frank house. Amsterdam is a very easy city to navigate and walking places never takes very long but If you want a really convenient way to travel around Amsterdam - it's on bike. There are bike rental shops at each end of the street. We can give more details about travel and bikes etc on request. Whether by foot/tram or bike it's easy to get to the Museumkwartier, with the amazing Van Gogh museum and the newly refurbished Rijksmuseum. For shopping there are lots of local markets and the lovely 9 streets shopping area that run between main canal belt and have lovely boutique style shops and cafes and restaurants. A journey never really takes more than 20minutes at the most in Amsterdam (especially on bike!) but if you're just looking to walk aimlessly - there are so many beautiful streets and canals to explore.

  • We loved staying with Alice! She had lots of ideas
about places to go and the best nearby restaurants. She made us feel right at home! Her apartment is very close to the Jordan area and the canals. A perfect location for getting acquainted with Amsterdam!

  • Alice was an amazing host and accommodated me despite the fact I booked for the wrong day!

The flat itself was light and airy in a beautiful part of town. It was easy to find and I could walk into the centre easily enough.

It was exactly what I expected and is well worthy of the high ratings most visitors leave here.

    Thanks Alice!

  • Alice was the perfect host during my brief stay in her home in Amsterdam. She went beyond the realms of what you'd expect from a host. From sourcing a gym close-by to her accommodation to pedaling back from work just to throw the keys so I could "check-in" at an unsuitable hour. Truly accommodating.

The accommodation itself is very comfortable and the bed itself extremely comfortable! The location is in a lovely part of Amsterdam which takes you nicely out of the overly touristy areas, but the touristy areas are still just a walk away! Honestly couldn't fault the place in anyway at all.

    Highly recommended!!

  • Alice was a lovely host during our short stay and helpful in any way. On top, the amazing apartment is great located. You can reach the city center in 15 min per foot or in 5 min by bike. We would definitely recommend this place.

  • Great accommodation, very close to the center. Very friendly host. Made sure we could check in in the morning, so we didn't have to carry our bags with us all day. Gave us privacy too.

  • I had a late flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam and made my way to Alice's place on a very cold January evening. I used the airbnb app instructions on my iPhone to locate her address with great ease. Alice greeted me with a big smile and showed me in. It was late but nothing was too much bother and I was shown everything. Nothing and I mean nothing was too much bother (including the loan of a UK plug adaptor which I forgot). This really is a beautiful home away from home and I felt totally relaxed. Great mattress too! Thanks for everything Alice! :)

  • I stayed at Alices' flat for two nights and it was as advertised. It was huge and very easy to get to from the central station. Alice was very easy going and very helpful on finding the better attractions. If there is any debate about choosing this place and another, Alices' place will not disappoint. If I ever get back to Amsterdam, I will stay here again and hopefully find some better brownies! Thank you very much for everything Alice!! Cheers from Canada.

  • Alice is a super sweet host and her flat is a very cool modern stay ideally located close to everything in central (old) Amsterdam. Trams are easy to catch for places farther out and Alice gave me a map that made it simple to get around to the various places i needed to go to. I had been travelling for month when i got to Amsterdam so Alice's awesome instructions to get to her place were a welcome relief. I was in town primarily to see the Van Gogh exhibit and Alice helped me out big time on that too!

  • Alice is a great host with a great apartment. It is just as in the pictures, the bed is comfortable (very important) and the shower is modern. It is actually not that far from the centre and I had no problem walking back and forth despite the cold weather.

I would recommend this apartment to anybody from solo travellers to couples.

About
I have not long moved to Amsterdam. I have been coming here every year for 10 years and It has been my dream to live here for about as long! This year i finally did it and I'm loving whizzing around on my bike and really getting to know the city. Before i moved here, i lived out of a suitcase for 18months as i travelled around the world and i have used Airbnb on a number of occasions as a guest. It is an excellent, cost effective way to stay in cool places while visiting amazing cities. I am loving the culture that is everywhere out here - so many good concerts/shows/museums. Rain or shine there is always something to do.
