The host of the annual Po-Boy festival in November, Oak Street has a collection of coffee shops, new and vintage clothing boutiques, wonderful places to dine, art galleries, antiques, stores and live music at the Maple Leaf Bar. As well as Oak Street, this great New Orleans neighborhood offers numerous restaurants, bars and shops all within a short walk. Also nearby are the Universities and Audubon Park. A block from the house is the street car stop that will take you by the beautiful homes on St. Charles Avenue into the Garden District, downtown, the Art District and the French Quarter.
We are happy to be flexible on our 3pm check-in/11am check-out when possible.
There is ample and safe street parking...the driveway besides the house belongs to the neighbor and is not available for our use at any time.
There is no smoking allowed inside the house. The kitchen is stocked for your convenience, the latched kitchen cabinets are used for personal storage, please leave these undisturbed. The side gates should remain latched at all times. Please be mindful that this is a quiet neighborhood and refrain from any loud noise, especially at night. The driveway at the side of the property is not to be used at any time. It is greatly appreciated when our guests tidy up before leaving. Please run all dirty dishes through the dishwasher and place all used towels in the laundry room.
Ellyn & Gil's charming house is in a terrific neighborhood close to shops and restaurants and transportation to anywhere in the city. Within walking distance of Tulane, it was very convenient for the trip with my son who is considering Tulane University next year. The house was spacious, luxurious and very clean. Our host left us with provisions and treats including a chocolate chip banana bread in the fridge with the warm invite to "make yourselves at home".
I can't say enough good things about this accommodation except that I know where I'll be staying when I come to New Orleans, that is if it's available. Thank you Ellyn and Gil.
Wow! Our trip to New Orleans and week long stay during Mardi Gras was made that much better by being in Ellyn's amazing house. We were 2 couples and 3 kids and had so much room! We spent most of our time in the spacious eat-in kitchen while the kids played in the family room or on the deck. Every morning we would walk to one of 2(!) coffee that were only a block away. One day we even took the street car which was, again, only a block away. I don't know how we could find a more convenient and amazing house for a stay during Mardi Gras.
Thanks Ellyn for the great house and wonderful hospitality!
Great house in a great neighborhood. Could walk to terrific restaurants. Trolley stop was only a block away.
Ellyn met us upon arrival and described what we needed to know. The unit was exactly as described. It was a wonderful experience. The neighborhood was great filled with nice restaurants and shops. Would definitely rent it again.
The spacious, comfortable, lovely home exceeded our expectations. The home was well-stocked with everything from snacks to coffee (essential!) to kichenware. The neighborhood offers a variety of funky shops and restaurants/cafes. A car was useful but not essential. Ellyn was flexible with check-in and provided a welcoming home base for our visit. We are looking forward to a return visit!
We came to New Orleans with 3 other couples and were all incredibly comfortable! We loved the decor and the host left awesome snacks. Anything we needed was provided. We had a wonderful time. Were a little concerned about traffic to get to the Quarter, but it was no problem at all! We enjoyed sitting on Ellyns front porch and there were awesome eateries right around the corner. We would definitely come back to Ellyns home!
This place was perfect for us. I live in New Orleans, but didn't have enough room to house my mother and other family and friends, so I rented Ellyn's house for a few days. It could not have been more comfortable, clean, and attractive. Big, very functional kitchen. Everything in perfect condition. The neighborhood is interesting, and the house is just one block from the St Charles streetcar.
