Molly and Gavin were wonderful hosts for our short stay in Ventura. Their one bedroom annex is perfectly situated up in the hills above Ventura and still close to the center of town. The apartment is clean, bright with sunlight, and full of charm. The kitchen/dining room area is perfect for a couple.
My wife and I had to leave abruptly due to a family health emergency, and Molly and Gavin could not have been nicer about wishing us well, and refunding our money for the time we were going to stay in their place.
They get our highest recommendations in every regard .

We are a family of four and really enjoyed our stay at Gavin and Mollie's place. The remodel is very tastefully done and the kitchenette was beautiful and perfect for light meals. They provided a bottle of wine, coffee and hot cocoa. Their location is only minutes from the beach and DT Ventura, which was great for shopping and meals. As a family we enjoyed a movie from their DVD collection too. The living space was large enough for an extra queen airbed that we brought, so our kids (14 & 11) didn't have to share the sofabed (and we didn't have to hear them complain!) When visiting Ventura, we would definitely recommend staying with them.
We had a great stay at Gavin and Mollie's. We have been to Ventura many times visiting family, and found this to be a really nice alternative to the hotels in town. The unit is clean, comfortable, sunny, well-appointed and very quiet. Great location - close to downtown and the beach, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Hosts were very friendly, responsive and easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to friends and family.
Lovely place in a beautiful neighbourhood. We really enjoyed it.
We loved our stay in Ventura at Gavin and Mollie's. Their place was very clean, charming, and comfortable. They also have a beautiful yard. I slept very well on the very comfy bed, and there was coffee and tea in the suite so you didn't have to go out immediately in the morning. The bathroom is large with two sinks and a tub. (My friend doesn't have a bathtub at her place and was very happy to take two long baths while we were there.) There is a small fridge and wine fridge for all your wine bottles. We decided not to cook as there's only a burner and a BBQ grill, but there are many, many dining options nearby. The hosts also left us a bottle of wine, which was a very nice touch. They were also very friendly and accommodating. I met them on the patio where I got to pet their very cute rabbit.
The suite is attached, but still private. The location is great--we got some good exercise walking a mile to the beach and to the downtown area where we had nice meals, did some wine tasting, and talked to the very friendly locals. Thank you, Gavin and Mollie! We had a great time!
Bright, sunny, clean, comfortable - we had a great one week stay in the Garden Suite, it was perfect for out family of 3. Great location, quiet yet close to everything. We enjoyed all of Ventura and beyond (suitable for our 4 yr old of course). Day trip to the Channel Islands, beaches, bike rides, Ojai, Santa Barbara Zoo, etc... Fun times! Thanks to Gavin and Mollie for being great hosts.
We had a girls weekend in Ventura and stayed in Gavin and Mollie's place for one night. We loved it! The place was super clean, spacious, and had a great garden. It was convenient to downtown Ventura and the beach. I'd stay there again if I could!
This was the second time my family and I stayed at Gavin's. We were driving up from LA on a Friday evening, so it actually got pretty late by the time we arrived. I had given our hosts a heads up and we were able to come in just fine without feeling like we bothered them (thanks!).
There were 5 of us who stayed in the Garden Suite, and we felt pretty comfortable and with enough space given the fold out couch bed, the airbed, and the bed in the bedroom. It was a family style weekend where we just piled up for the two nights we were there and headed out during the day. We felt pretty comfortable, so if you have fewer people staying in the Garden Suite you will have plenty of space.
I appreciated the dinner table, and the kitchenette space, it made the place feel very comfortable, homey. Lastly, the Garden Suite is separate from the rest of the home, so you'll definitely have privacy if it's important for you.
While visiting we spent some time in ventura but also nearby Ojai. If you don't have plans Mollie and Gavin will give you a few pointers for fun things to check out in the area.
All around a great place. My family and I were happy to stay at Gavins and will be doing it again in the future.
Thanks for having us!
