(Guests are welcome to use this room during the day to make tea/coffee or simply relax and watch the world go by.)
The house, (which is a protected property) enjoys the high ceilings and wonderful features which make Victorian period homes such a privilege to live in. These are seamlessly combined with the luxury of all mod cons, including WiFi and satellite TV. It's on a beautiful road comprising of Victorian houses, all built to individual taste and requirements. You can see the sea from our front gate. Croke Park (where the national games are played) the o2 concert venue, the Bord Gais Energy, Abbey, Peacock and Gate theatres are all easily accessed by bus or train. If you don't want to venture into town there are lots of cafes, restaurants and a little theatre nearby to amuse and entertain you...you're a short walk from two of the best pubs in north city Dublin (Harry Byrne's and The Yacht) but if you want something a little more historic you could go see Bram Stoker's house or the site of the famous Battle of Clontarf, which celebrates its millennium anniversary in 2014, take a trip to Howth or savour the delights of St. Anne's Park. And if golf is your thing you're definitely coming to the right place with a great inland club and two smashing links course right on our doorstep.
Why choose any place else!
Bedroom, dining room, garden and courtyard. If you want to watch something particular on television in the sitting room (as has happened with football, for instance) that isn't a problem. We have satellite TV downstairs.
Interaction with Guests
We usually sit down with our guests over a cup of tea and a slice of cake when they arrive or, if that's not possible, we breakfast with them on Day 1 to give them any help we can in making their plans for their trip. But of course, if guests don't need help and prefer to take breakfast on their own this is perfectly fine too, although we usually check in to see that everything is ok....
The ease of access to downtown Dublin, combined with having the sea and some beautiful parks on the doorstep makes this a very attractive location. We're a bus ride to Howth and we're close to Croke Park, the Aviva stadium, 3 Arena, Bord Gais Energy Theatre, the national Cricket grounds as well as Dublin's other theatres and the many attractions the city centre has to offer.
Bus is a 2 minute walk away. Its the 130 and offers a good service. Train (the Dart) is 7 mins. walk away. If you fancy walking it takes about 45 mins to town. From the airport we're 20 mins (approx €20) by taxi. There's on-street parking (free) if you've got a car. By bus from the airport it's a 2-bus journey. Shouldn't take longer than an hour. We re about 10 mins by car from the ferry at Dublin Port.
Other Things to Note
Guests come and go as they like. Check in is at 3pm but depending on whether or not we have guests the night before, checking in can be earlier. Usually we can take people's luggage, irrespective of whether or not the room is free, after 9am. We re also happy to hold onto luggage on the day of checking out if guests have a late return flight.
Unfortunately, our listing is not suitable for children under 4 as we don't have the facilities to cater for them.
We treat each guest as an individual with individual needs. Tell us what you need/want .... and we'll try to accommodate you. Mutual respect is key to how we treat our guests ad how we expect to be treated in return. We have few rules ...
*We're strict non-smokers but there is a courtyard available where you can smoke if you wish.
*We would prefer if you didn't invite anyone into our home.
* If you lose your key you will be charged for changing the locks. To this end we require an upfront deposit of €100 which will be retuned to you on checking out.
*We would prefer if you could check in before 5p.m on the day of arrival and check out at 10.30a.m. However, we can be flexible ... it all depends on whether or not we have people coming in on the same day as you leave.
Cosy bed in a cosy room on the return of the house which offers a degree of privacy if that's what you need.
Jacinta was wonderfully friendly from the very beginning. We felt very welcome at Jacinta and Pat's beautiful big home. The room is very comfortable and tidy.
The location, too, is great for anybody who wants to be not quite in the center of everything but not too far removed either. It's just a couple minutes to the bus stop, and the bus is quick (maybe 15 minutes, depending on traffic) and you get to see the north side of Dublin as you're going into the center.
Jacinta gave us very good recommendations on what to do.
Would definitely recommend.
Jacinta and her husband Patrick are great hosts. It was my first stay at a airbnb accommodation, but Jacinta helpfully answered all my questions. The room is perfect for a family, with a double bed and a single bed upstairs.
From Jacinta's house one can easily go to Croke Park and the City Center by bus. The bus stop is just down the street.
We really enjoyed our stay in your house, Jacinta. Thanks for the lovely hosting and your help and recommondations!
Jacinta and Patrick made us feel extremely welcome. Informed us of local restaurants, places to visit local transport. We felt very comfortable in their home.

About the Host, Jacinta
I am a freelance journalist/publisher, married with two grown up sons. When we first moved into our house we kept adult students . Over the years we've hosted people from Italy, Spain, Iran, Germany, France, Austria. We've also had au pairs stay with us when our sons were young. It was a great experience, one we enjoyed very much. Some of our former house mates may even be looking at this page. If so... come and stay with us again guys. We'd love to see you!
What are the things I like and can't do without? Family, good friends/companionship, music (all sorts from classical to rock) books, cinema, radio (always on) and sports (I live with boys, say no more!)
I like travelling but not the tent and backpack variety. I am that person who takes the kitchen sink with her and if I forget it I acquire it en route. My favourite destination? St. Petersburg is magic, with Istanbul close behind but the best place of all is Co. Clare — my birthplace, on the west coast of Ireland.... Absolutely beautiful.
