Interaction with Guests
We usually sit down with our guests over a cup of tea and a slice of cake when they arrive or, if that's not possible, we breakfast with them on Day 1 to give them any help we can in making their plans for their trip. But of course, if guests don't need help and prefer to take breakfast on their own this is perfectly fine too, although we usually check in to see that everything is ok....
The ease of access to downtown Dublin, combined with having the sea and some beautiful parks on the doorstep makes this a very attractive location. We're a bus ride to Howth and we're close to Croke Park, the Aviva stadium, 3 Arena, Bord Gais Energy Theatre, the national Cricket grounds as well as Dublin's other theatres and the many attractions the city centre has to offer.
Bus is a 2 minute walk away. Its the 130 and offers a good service. Train (the Dart) is 7 mins. walk away. If you fancy walking it takes about 45 mins to town. From the airport we're 20 mins (approx €20) by taxi. There's on-street parking (free) if you've got a car. By bus from the airport it's a 2-bus journey. Shouldn't take longer than an hour. We re about 10 mins by car from the ferry at Dublin Port.
Other Things to Note
Guests come and go as they like. Check in is at 3pm but depending on whether or not we have guests the night before, checking in can be earlier. Usually we can take people's luggage, irrespective of whether or not the room is free, after 9am. We re also happy to hold onto luggage on the day of checking out if guests have a late return flight.
Unfortunately, our listing is not suitable for children under 4 as we don't have the facilities to cater for them.
We treat each guest as an individual with individual needs. Tell us what you need/want .... and we'll try to accommodate you. Mutual respect is key to how we treat our guests ad how we expect to be treated in return. We have few rules ...
*We're strict non-smokers but there is a courtyard available where you can smoke if you wish.
*We would prefer if you didn't invite anyone into our home.
* If you lose your key you will be charged for changing the locks. To this end we require an upfront deposit of €100 which will be retuned to you on checking out.
*We would prefer if you could check in before 5p.m on the day of arrival and check out at 10.30a.m. However, we can be flexible ... it all depends on whether or not we have people coming in on the same day as you leave.
Cosy bed in a cosy room on the return of the house which offers a degree of privacy if that's what you need.
Staying with Jacinta was amazing! Highly highly recommend staying here. She was so kind and helpful- even calling a cab for us and driving us into town. The bedroom accommodated us perfectly for 3 people. We have zero complaints about this bnb and hope to stay with her again soon! She seriously goes above and beyond for her guests, making you feel right at home. This being our first bnb- I can't imagine staying at a better place!
We had a great stay with Jacinta, she is a fabulous host and made us feel very welcome. The room we stayed in is lovely and stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries for us to use. Jacinta goes above and beyond in making sure that there are lots of supplies available for breakfast. The location of the house is perfect to get into Dublin city in a short amount of time with the bus and DART stops a short walk away. We will definitely be back to stay with Jacinta and have won't hesitate in recommending the place to other people.
Jacinta was a fantastic host from start to finish. She emailed me a giant Word document with all the info I could ever need, fed me and my boyfriend homemade tea cake, called us a cab not once but twice and gave us amazing suggestions on where to eat. The bus stop is a 3 minute walk from the house but you can walk into the city center in about 40 minutes if it's nice out/you're feeling energetic. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Staying with her and Pat was a total pleasure.
Jacinta was one of the most pleasant people I have ever encountered. She's extremely sweet, witty, and welcoming. She was so accomidating and made us feel at ease right away. It felt like a home away from home. Patrick(hopefully I got that right) her husband, was also very sweet and welcoming. She gave us lots of recommendations and ended up driving us to the bus Plaza when we were in a pinch. I could continue to write about my pleasant interactions with jacinta, but I don't want to eat up your day, so I'll get on to the accommodations. The neighborhood is beautiful and very central. The home itself was even nicer than the photos suggest, and the shared dining room was fantastic. The room itself was comfy and clean, the shower had great water pressure and seemed to have an endless supply of hot water. If you're visiting Dublin, definitely seek out Jacinta, she'll make you feel at home. :)
Thanks again Jacinta!!
What an amazing experience. I always looked forward to going to Ireland but I had no I idea I would get everything I got out of it and Jacinta is what made the difference. Her hospitality was above and beyond. She knew exactly where to go and details/ history about each of those places. The room was absolutely wonderful as well for me and my friends. We had just the perfect amount of space and her house in general was gorgeous. The eating area was very pleasant and was also unexpected that they were generous enough to offer that too us. Her location was great for places to get food and having a wonderful view of the sea and perfect walk to the beach. She was also right off a main road so it was easy access to any bus and to the city centre. My trip would have been no where as simple as it was if it was not for Jacinta and Patricks home. When I saw her home on airbnb I was in love and my friend and I knew we had to stay there. Thank goodness we did because the experience was unforgettable. In the end I gained a friend and that's more than I could have hoped for.
My fiancé and I had a wonderful experience. The location was ideal and the accommodations were clean and quite nice. Jacinta herself was accommodating and willing to give us directions or any information we requested. She even left some honey and lemon in the eating area for me when I got a cold! We would recommend Jacinta's home to anyone!

About the Host, Jacinta
I am a freelance journalist/publisher, married with two grown up sons. When we first moved into our house we kept adult students . Over the years we've hosted people from Italy, Spain, Iran, Germany, France, Austria. We've also had au pairs stay with us when our sons were young. It was a great experience, one we enjoyed very much. Some of our former house mates may even be looking at this page. If so... come and stay with us again guys. We'd love to see you!
What are the things I like and can't do without? Family, good friends/companionship, music (all sorts from classical to rock) books, cinema, radio (always on) and sports (I live with boys, say no more!)
I like travelling but not the tent and backpack variety. I am that person who takes the kitchen sink with her and if I forget it I acquire it en route. My favourite destination? St. Petersburg is magic, with Istanbul close behind but the best place of all is Co. Clare — my birthplace, on the west coast of Ireland.... Absolutely beautiful.
