The two door "saddlebag" cabin is surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest and near McKee, a Kentucky Trailtown. Nestled in a small valley, our quaint cabin is the perfect mountain getaway. Built in 1894, by the Lakes family, it has a romantic, rustic and nostalgic feel. If you are a history buff, interested in Appalachian culture, or just want a charming, outdoorsy and secluded getaway, this cabin is for you.
After making your reservation, be sure to check out the "House Manual".

Guest access
Entire cabin. The cabin has two bedrooms upstairs separated by two doors. Each bedroom has one double bed and one single bed. Both rooms also have their own staircases, one that leads into the kitchen and the other into the living room. There is also a 2-mile hiking trail, a pond, and 2 barns on the property.

Other things to note
We do not provide breakfast, but a working kitchen is available. Just plan to bring any food with you if you wish to cook. There is a grocery store, and a local farmers market in Berea (45 minutes from the cabin), as well as a Dollar store , a Save a Lot and local general store (S&T Hardware) in McKee (10 minutes from the cabin). Additionally, cell reception here is spotty, at best, so plan for you phone not work. There is a phone in the cabin for local calls, to contact me, or in case of emergencies (911).
Winter Reservations
Travel in this area can be tricky in winter. The cabin is located in a deep valley and the grade is steep. Pay particular attention to the weather for travel in both directions. If it snows, AT ALL, please consider cancelling your reservation. Your money will be fully refunded.
If it snows and you still want to come, be extremely careful. Unless you are VERY experienced driving on snow AND have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, do not attempt this journey.
