I really enjoyed my stay with Tatiana and Mikael, they are very welcoming and speak excellent English. The flat is extremely comfortable and in a perfect location - central but peaceful. They gave me lots of advice and information to help me settle into life in Almaty. I would recommend staying with them to anyone vising the city.
Tatiana and Michael were perfect hosts. Tatiana had taken the trouble to read my profile to see I was a vegetarian and made me a lovely salad. They even shared a delicious breakfast with me. They were friendly, helpful and made me feel very welcome. The single bed and room were bigger than they look in the photo and very comfortable. Tatiana organised a taxi for me to come at 3am and had no problem with them phoning the flat to alert me.
You will not regret booking this room, lovely hosts and an interesting city that is easy to walk around. Check out the brand new metro.
A tip. At the airport, go straight to the Tourist information, they will book you a taxi which is currently 1,200 tenge, instead of the 2.500 from the taxi rank and probably more from the drivers who pounce on you at the gate. They will also give you a map and guide in English which is really useful. If you take the telephone number (she used my mobile to make the call as her phone wasn't working), you can get the same price on the way back.
Thank you Tatiana and Michael.
Location is very good and I can visit everything that I want only by little walk.
Internet is very fast (but don’t forget about Kazakhstan global censorship).
Tatiana and her hasband Michael is very nice persons, they give real useful advice and make my stay very comfortable.
British scientist stay in another room and we have exciting conversations all together at every evening.
It has been a pleasure to meet Tatiana and her husband Michael. Tatiana was waiting for me in the middle of the night, and was also waking up at 3 a.m. when I was leaving, not only to see me off, but to double-check i was taken to the airport by taxi which was a bit late.
Location proved to be splendid, standard too, in normal circumstances, now it was a bit "downgraded" by the fact that the whole street was closed due to major heating network maintenance work. I trust this will be off soon, as for me the inconvenience was a matter for few days, only, for Tatiana and Michael it lasted already second month. Tatiana honestly warned me about it and gave a discount to the price, so this was my choice.
Tatiana also proved to be a very good guide to the city, though we did not have a chance to walk and see much together, she gave me a number of valuable hints and provided with some reference materials. I imagine for someone who does not have any knowledge of the city (I happen to have a bit of it) this cannot be underestimated.
Overall, I can recommend the place and the hosts - great experience indeed.
You will cherish the memory of this warm home for a long time! The flat is perfectly located in the center of town and occupied by a wonderfully kind and welcoming couple. Tatiana was a fantastic guide, always ready with a map to help a stranger to the city figure out a daily route. The room has beautiful morning sunlight, a cozy bed and a big desk, very comfortable for a laptop or journal. You can't go wrong! Book quick before someone beats you to it! Tatiana is the best!
I stayed at Tatiana and Michel's apartment in January 2012. Though I only stayed for one night, Tatiana and Michael made me feel at home. They are a very warm and welcoming couple.
Their apartment is in the heart of Almaty, walking distance from shops, restaurants and a few nice parks.
I look forward to staying with them next time I am in Almaty
I arrived in the middle of the night in Almaty and Tatiana was already waiting by her phone to help me find the place. She not only talked the taxi through the process, but also welcomed me with fruit after I arrived. She and her husband continued to be excellent hosts for the duration of my stay, always willing to answer questions and help make my stay in Almaty run smoothly.
I'd recommend their home for any travelers (transit or otherwise) who'd like a few days rest, excellent advice, and delicious food during their travels!

My name is Tatiana, and I am originally from Belarus (Minsk). My husband Michael and I have been living in Almaty for the past 3 years (we moved here for his work - he is in the energy business). We love it here and know that you will too!
I am taking English language classes, love to cook and entertain.
Our weekends are spent in the mountains hiking and we'd be happy to take you along.
