The Roost is located Northeast of Frankford Avenue, the main line of Fishtown & East Kensington (aka "Fishington") and a short stroll to Northern Liberties. Coffee shops, restaurants, bars, boutiques, music venues, studios, parks and galleries abound in this growing area. *Please note that this is a developing neighborhood with a lot of new construction around. North&west of the house isn't as beautiful but heading south & east will take you to fun activities: bars, coffee shops & restaurants.

Take yourself farther: Hop on the 5 bus on Frankford & Huntingdon St for a 10-minute ride to Northern Liberties to explore another awesome neighborhood.

FISHINGTON/EAST KENSINGTON (SIMILAR TO WILLIAMSBURG/EAST WILLIAMSBURG IN BROOKLYN): Get your premium cuts of meat at Kensington Quarters which doubles as a butcher shop and restaurant. Wander a bit further up Frankford avenue and enjoy some tiki-style drinks at kitschy The Yachtsman and tacos at Heffe. Getting into East Kensington territory you’ll find the world’s first pizza museum, Pizza Brain and one of Philly’s local favorite ice cream makers Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Take your pizza to go & set up your picnic blanket at Konrad Square.

Ever wanted to taste local spirits made right within Philadelphia county? Rowhouse Distillery makes some of the best gin on offer at the local bars around Fishtown and Kensington. When open, the distillery offers tastings and tours!

For your daily caffeine fix, stop by Reanimator Coffee at one of it's two locations -- on Master Street or Susquehanna Avenue. Both Fishtown and Kensington have great Mexican food options, including Taco Riendo and Loco Pez. Check out Martha for their amazing drink specials on Mondays, their beer garden and their support of local craft spirits and distilleries.
