Hakan was a wonderful host. He met us at Selcuk station to show us the way to his flat, made us feel very at home, and kindly made us breakfast ready for when we woke each day. And introduced us to his cats. He also gave us restaurant recommendations and how best to get in/out of town.
The flat is right on the square in the middle of town, 30 seconds from all the amenities including train station, probably 5-10 mins walk from the otogar.
The flat is nice, clean, functionally does everything you'd want it to. Perfect for us. If you were looking for more luxury though this may not be right for you - it is his living room so a (very comfortable and big enough) sofa bed, and the bathroom is on the functional side. A great base for spending time with the local world class cultural heritage.
My husband and I had a great time staying with Hakan for two days. The accommodations are basic, but comfortable. We had complete privacy, but Hakan was always there if we had any questions. The place is very conveniently located, steps away from the train station and a very short walk from the bus station, which takes you to Ephesus in 10 minutes. It could be a little loud at night with street noise, and the local mosque might wake you up early, but that is happening everywhere in Turkey. Hakan was an excellent host, even preparing our breakfast after getting home from work late at night. We also loved meeting his two lovely cats and their new family of kittens. We recommend staying here.
Hakan was a great host and makes good breakfasts ! Brilliant location from the train and bus stations.
My girlfriend and I went to Selcuk for the Ephesus. This was our first time staying with a host family and we hope that other host will be kind to us like Hakan did. After he picked us up at the station, he spent some time to give us some recommendations in Selcuk. The room he provided was clean and tidy as shown in pictures. Overall, I would highly recommend this place.
The location of the apartment was very convenient because it is literally right next door to the train station, which made it really easy to get to the Izmir airport and when we did a day trip to Pamukkale. The apartment was clean and spacious. Hakan was a nice host who helped answer our many questions. It was raining the 2 days that we were in Selcuk, which made the apartment and my clothes that I left out in the room feel damp, but that is just unfortunate weather.
Hakan is such a wonderful host! He met me and my friend at the train station, and walked us to his apartment. The place is located in a prime spot, a few minutes walk from the museum, basilica and the castle, and about a 30-40 minute walk from Ephesus. Hakan gave us his recommendations for food and sites to see, and the best way to get to them. And the best part of all, Hakan arranged a lovely breakfast for us both mornings! Highly recommended :)
About the Host, Hakan
I have been living with my two cats (a girl & boy). I like smooth jazz and some of the pop, opera, theatre, live concerts. I do like being fit and try to be fit by running and sometimes going to the gym. I like exploring new tastes and new dishes on my own.
