Fran and Jim arrived at the home before we did and greeted us at the door. They were great about communication and coordination, as we prepared to take the ferry over from Steilacoom.
The home was immaculate and the perfect place for our group of five (4 adults and one baby). It was spacious, light filled, and stocked with amenities. In the kitchen, great cookware, utensils, knives, and dishware. Fran and Jim let us borrow their two mountain bikes, and we had a nice adventure on the island roads. The beds were very comfortable and the linens and pillows very welcoming. There were no shortage of towels, which was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed using the gas fireplaces!
The home is pretty child proof for a one-and-a-half year old.
Jim and Fran let us know that we were welcome on the private Riviera golf course lands, as their guests. They also pointed out a general store, which was very convenient and would have any last-minute items that you needed from a grocery.
All in all, we greatly enjoyed our stay in Fran and Jim's home! Thank you!
I requested to book this home the same day that I planned on traveling there. The Postma's were more than accommodating for our group. I received a quick response and not long after that we were on our way! The house is just as the picture shows; beautiful. The woods around the home make it secluded enough to make one feel they are getting an escape, while still having neighbors close by if one needed something. I am very picking when it comes to finding a place to stay, I spend hours looking for the right place. This was definitely a success! All in all it was a great last minute trip and I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to get away from city life.
Highly recommended! This was our first experience with AirBnb and it was amazing. The house was gorgeous and super clean. We loved every detail in the house - from paints to carpets. The most important thing for our travel is the environmental noise. The place was very quiet and relaxing. The house also had two bikes and the island was really great for biking. One of the best moment was seeing the Mt. Rainier in the last sunset of 2014. Fortunately we found the best view while driving. The Ferry is also very easy and quick.
Our hosts were most gracious even after I misunderstood some simple instructions to meet them on the main land BEFORE we caught the ferry to collect the keys. They had a contact on the Island open up for us.
The house was exactly as described, and I cannot fault a place that has two Picasso print son the wall! the house was clean, tidy and spacious.
The neighborhood, well it is like all the island quiet and tucked away in the regrowth forest. They provided two bicycles which were appreciated and basically it was just right for our little retreat that we had with friends.
Fran and her husband were delightful to interact with, going above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and safe. Their home was lovely and the entire family felt instantly at home. Everyone on the island was very welcoming, as was the abundant wildlife. We love this home and can't wait to come back in the summer.
Just like the description says; this is a beautiful vacation home! It was the perfect place for what our group was looking for: a quiet, relaxing getaway from Seattle. Anderson Island was close enough to the city to get to quickly, yet far enough away to feel like a retreat. The house itself is pretty secluded, just one home among a few dotting the small street near the golf course. The wall of windows in the great room overlooking the backyard was beautiful, a nice setting to sit by the gas fireplace and watch evening roll in. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms spacious enough for two couples with infants. Plus having separate bathrooms was great too.
Arranging our stay was a breeze as well - Fran and Jim were very responsive to both my initial inquiry as well as my follow-up questions. Jim came and met us in the ferry line to hand off the house key and chatted with us for a short time, giving us tips about things to do on the island. When we arrived at the home, they had a nice binder of information about the property and the island itself.
We didn't get the chance to do much exploring of the island, though hopefully we can do that on a future visit. Overall, this was a great place to kick back, relax, and enjoy a great meal with friends. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful home in a quiet setting, and we look forward to returning.
The hosts were very Welcoming . The house was beautiful & very comfortable. Would like to have had a little more covering on the bathroom window to make it feel more (email hidden)derson is a beautiful island. Loved driving down the tree covered roads & eating at the restaurant on the lake. It's a great place to kick back & relax. We really enjojed ourselves.
I am a retired secondary and college teacher that has enjoyed venturing into other occupational fields: real estate professional, local elected councilwoman, and now writing, gardening and quilting. My fun activities are reading, entertaining, hiking, traveling, watching the hummingbirds at my feeders, golfing and flying my own airplane, a Beech Sundowner. My health activities are walking and jogging, going to the gym, yoga and gardening.
I believe in taking advantage of meeting many interesting people, learning about the world by traveling, enjoying the world around me, and making everyday be a positive impact on my life. My list of to-do's is always far longer than I will every accomplish but I love trying so many new things. My days are not long enough nor will my life, on this earth, ever be long enough to accomplish everything I want to try or do. Life is so full of wonders.
My life would not be as full if it were not for being married to a wonderful man named Jim, who shares many of my same interests. We have been married for 34 years and have built a life full of many memories of all our conversations and activities. Jim has been an Air Force officer, rocket scientist and defense engineer. We both love to spend time in our Island home to relax and remove ourselves from the faster life on the mainland. We support each other and work and play together. Our children and grandchildren do not live on the west coast of the country so therefore some of our travel is to see family.
Jim has lived in Japan while in the Air Force, I lived in Germany while my spouse was in the Army so therefore that set the pattern for traveling to other lands. We have daughter Monica with six grandchildren living permanently on the west coast of France, daughter Cindy living in Ithica, NY and daughter Joy living in Abu Dhabi. Some of our trips have also included; Turkey, Greece, most of Europe, including Norway, Sweden and Denmark and the British Isles plus Ireland, Mexico, Canada, Panama and will travel to Indonesia and Bali in July of this year. I still want to spend more time in South America and Antarctica.
We would love to share our little bit of Island living with you. Come stay awhile.
