About This Listing
In a quiet area, this warm upstairs bedroom has a full private bath, with dog-friendly outdoor space. Located less than 2 miles from downtown Charlottesville and next to Rivanna Trail. The bed's a full futon. Must be pet and gay-friendly.
Our space comes with an adorable French Bulldog and Moto, who are a fun and friendly dog and cat. Our neighborhood is close to downtown but not on a busy street--in fact described as a quiet street. Walking trails and creek nearby.
Guests are welcome in the kitchen and living room. They will have mostly sole access to the upstairs, but sometimes we need to go into the office across the upstairs guest room.
Interaction with Guests
If we are here and the guest(s) comes downstairs, we will converse with guests, just check in with them and see if anything is needed. Otherwise we leave guests alone to enjoy their space.
It's at the edge of town, it's older, it is away from the main traffic areas...the houses are modest to very nice, there are full trees and wooded areas nearby, and always someone walking their dog or jogging.
Bus stop 2 blocks away. Some have biked to and from town. Parking is ample. We have a fire hydrant out front but routinely our guests have parked in front of it without hassle.
Other Things to Note
Park wherever you like, that includes in the driveway (ours is the one on the left facing the house); in front of the fire hydrant (no one tickets), or across the street along the wooden fence of our neighbors. If you do park in front of the fire hydrant, just pull into the grass as the street is narrow.
Turn lights off when not using. *Except sometimes we will purposely leave a light on in the guest's bedroom (low wattage small light) to avoid stumbling in the dark to an unfamiliar space.
I couldn't be more thankful to Johanna and Amy for an awesome place to stay. The place is clean, cozy, and really well decorated. The bed is cozier than my own, the bathroom bigger than my first NYC apartment. Their dog Dart is adorable and friendly; their cat Moto didn't aggravate my severe cat allergies which says a lot about the cleanliness of the house. Overall good vibes in this house. Highly recommend this place for a fun and comfortable home away from home!
Johanna and Amy are two of the coolest people you could hope to meet. They are warm, hospitable, generous, and damn fun.
House is great too!
Love this place! The bungalow style is one of my favorites and I love Johanna and Amy's taste in decorating. They made me feel right at home the minute I stepped through the door. They're great hosts and the place was pristine! Their pooch Dash is a sweetie-pie. Saw cool cat Moto a couple of times as I was coming and going but didn't get to officially meet him. Next time! I was out-and-about most of the weekend but really enjoyed hanging with Johanna & Amy and a couple of their friends for a bit on the night I arrived. I took full advantage of all the local recommendations they provided and enjoyed walking the trail they had mapped out. I look forward to another stay very soon!
Johanna and Amy are excellent hostesses and provided a very hospitable experience. Their house is immaculate, comfortable, and in a nice quiet neighborhood. The Rivanna Trail system is 100m away. Easy access to downtown and Pantops. The resident pets Moto and Dash are an added bonus for animal lover! Highly recommend, overall.
Johanna, Amy, Dash, and Moto were awesome. They are awesome. They are very welcoming and friendly. The place is great, the room is very very comfortable and the neighborhood is very nice. The town is small indeed but very walkable. They help us a lot while We were there and We really feel ourselves like home. Is a really nice place to be, Dash is a good camarade who will be happy to receive love. The house is animated when everyone is in home, and that a hice time to share.
About the Host, Johanna
I am a physician assistant, former musician and landscaper; lived in Charlottesville since 2003 but originally from WV. Dutch heritage, lover of outdoors, cyclist. My partner Amy and I have been together since 2005. She is primarily responsible for decorating the house, but occasionally I chip in with ideas (i.e. the outdoor space).
I can't live without some kind of physical activity. I yearn for good books, am currently learning to fly a drone thanks to my recent Airbnb guest, and appreciate learning new skills.
