About this listing
In a quiet area, this warm upstairs bedroom has a full private bath, with dog-friendly outdoor space. Located less than 2 miles from downtown Charlottesville and next to Rivanna Trail. The bed's a full futon. Must be pet and gay-friendly.
Our space comes with an adorable French Bulldog and Moto, who are a fun and friendly dog and cat. Our neighborhood is close to downtown but not on a busy street--in fact described as a quiet street. Walking trails and creek nearby. Please keep in mind if you are thinking of bringing your dog, the dog must be friendly to other dogs, cats, and furniture/belongings.
Guests are welcome in the kitchen and living room. They will have mostly sole access to the upstairs, but sometimes we need to go into the office across the upstairs guest room.
Interaction with Guests
If we are here and the guest(s) comes downstairs, we will converse with guests, just check in with them and see if anything is needed. Otherwise we leave guests alone to enjoy their space.
It's at the edge of town, it's older, it is away from the main traffic areas...the houses are modest to very nice, there are full trees and wooded areas nearby, and always someone walking their dog or jogging.
Bus stop 3 blocks away. Some have walked or biked to and from town. Parking is ample. We have a fire hydrant out front but routinely our guests have parked in front of it without hassle.
Other Things to Note
Park wherever you like, that includes in the driveway (ours is the one on the left facing the house); in front of the fire hydrant (no one tickets), or across the street along the wooden fence of our neighbors. If you do park in front of the fire hydrant, just pull into the grass as the street is narrow.
Turn lights off when not using. *Except sometimes we will purposely leave a light on in the guest's bedroom (low wattage small light) to avoid stumbling in the dark to an unfamiliar space.
No inviting strangers over.
Johanna, Amy, and Dash were freaking awesome. They have a beautiful modern home in a charming neighborhood. Everything was clean and updated. The bed was comfortable. The hosts... The hosts are some of the friendliest people we've met. They know their town and know how to make their guests feel comfortable and at home. Can't wait to come back.
I totally enjoyed my stay at the "Little Cape" in Charlottesville. You could not have asked for better hosts! Johanna and Amy went out of their way to make my first airbnb comfortable. Having my own bathroom and Central air a plus. The house is spotless and wonderfully decorated. The location is great near town, parks and UVA. Let's not forget to mention their adorable dog "Dash" who became my buddy
I had a great stay. The hosts were very inviting and personable. My room and private bath were really nice, comfortable and perfect for my needs.
Listing completely accurate. Very friendly couple. Loved the adorable pup.
We were looking for a safe, reliable place to stay for our first AirBnB experience and Joanna and Amy 100% delivered on that.
Bed very comfortable! Appreciated all of the DVD options left for guests.
Uber ride to Downtown mall was about $8.00 each way.
Perfect stay. Johanna and Amy did me a bunch of favors (picked me up, took me to Goodwill, lent me a bike) and the room (entire floor, actually) was comfortable and felt very private.
We stayed at Johanna's long enough to quickly change clothes for a wedding and then for a place to sleep through the night. Everything was very clean, the bathroom was spacious enough that we could both get ready at the same time, and the futon was more comfortable than most hotel beds. The room was initially a little warm for our liking, but the overhead fan made it more comfortable. Thanks so much to Johanna & Amy for a really great place to rest our heads!
Fantastic airbnb experience. A beautiful home and the bed was soooo comfortable. It was also lovely chatting with Johanna (and friends) and she was such a great host. Nice quiet neighbourhood yet the centre of historic Charlottesville wasn't too far to walk to. Definitely recommended!
About the Host, Johanna
I am a physician assistant, former musician and landscaper; lived in Charlottesville since 2003 but originally from WV. Dutch heritage, lover of outdoors, cyclist. My partner Amy and I have been together since 2005. She is primarily responsible for decorating the house, but occasionally I chip in with ideas (i.e. the outdoor space).
I can't live without some kind of physical activity. I yearn for good books, am currently learning to fly a drone thanks to my recent Airbnb guest, and appreciate learning new skills.
