Attractive, comfortable, private self-contained oasis in residential neighborhood 1 block from one of the most gorgeous beaches on the globe. A perfect place to relax after a day of sunning, shopping and seeing the sights. Only 3 blocks from Johns Pass - an eclectic mixture of shops, bars and restaurants.
Apt is 1BR/1BA w/a single attached carport (a rare commodity at the beach), utility room with washer/dryer and a small fenced private back yard. It is beautifully furnished including lots of inspiring coastal artwork. The LR has ample seating for you and guests as well as a bistro dining set that seats 4. Also in the LR is a 32” Samsung LED flat screen and DirectTV w/DVR, a DVD player and WiFi. The kitchen is very well equipped with all necessities and many extras. The bath has a tub/shower combo w/a hand held Waterpik showerhead. There is a very comfy queen bed and ample closet/storage space in the BR. The fenced rear yard has a gas grill, umbrella table and chairs and a chaise for your comfort. There is also a queen inflatable mattress for occasional overnight guests. It is half a duplex with owner, Jan and dachies Graham & Greta, living in the other half.
Guests are welcome to use/consume anything they find in the refridgerator/pantry. I do try to leave a few "goodies" like pastries, a few eggs, a small container of milk, staples, etc. to get visitors started so they don't feel they need to run to the grocery store right away. There are also clean linens and a couple of beach towels in the hall linen closet. Basically, everything in the apartment is there to make the guest more comfortable. All I ask is that you treat everything with respect to ensure it is in good condition for the next guests. Visitors will also have complete access to the fenced in area around the apartment that containe outdoor furniture and a gas gas grill. The single carport in front of the unit is designated parking for guests.
Since I live in the other half of the duplex, I will be available to guests most evenings and weekends. I do still work during the week.
My neighborhood is a residential mixture of single family year round residents, seasonal rentals and multi-family dwellings that are well maintained. Residents are friendly and respectful of others' privacy. It is ~1 block to our gorgeous Gulf beach, ~3 blocks to Johns Pass with many restaurants, shops, bars & some of the best "homemade" ice cream you've ever eaten in easy walking distance.
Beach Trolley stop is 1 block away on Gulf Blvd and goes from Pass-A-Grille to Clearwater

Jan was the best host ever. The pictures don't make justice to the place. The house was pretty clean and cozy, It had everything you need to feel at home and I mean everything (towels and chairs for the beach, all the stuff needed in a kitchen, she left fruits and some other groseries in the fridge, and many other things so we didn't have to worry about anything) Unfortunately we couldn't stay for a long time but we would come back if possible. Thanks Jan!!!
I arranged a month-long stay recently for my parents with Jan Ford, and they were so pleased. The place was clean and pleasant, and the location was perfect. Jan was a perfect host to them, checking on them frequently, helping with internet and television, etc. My parents enjoyed the small but nice backyard and the covered carport. It was a nice sense of privacy combined with the knowledge of someone close by for help and information as needed. They would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend Jan and her place. Thanks, Jan!
We stayed at Jan's Place in the Sun for 6 days and were very comfortable. The beach is less than 100 yards away and John's Pass is within a few blocks.
The house, (1/2 duplex), was very clean and had all of the comforts of home, including a carport entrance, a hose for our sandy feet, a small patio area outside the bedroom with a grill and a place to hang our wet beach towels; towels and beach chairs provided, too.
Upon arrival we were surprised to find the kitchen stocked with fresh fruit, muffins, milk, juice, eggs and bagels; and there were condiments and canned goods, too.
We felt very independent and yet connected because Jan was always available to answer questions; only a phone call away.
Once we got the lay of the land we discovered that we could take the trolly to church, the post office, or Winn Dixie. We loved drinking sangria on the sidewalk at the Florida Winery and eating she-crab soup at Scully's. Make sure you have breakfast at Sweet Sage on 167th St. There was live music every day at the Pass. Whatever your thing is, it's within walking distance... para sailing, dolphin watching, jet skiing, casino cruises, or just shopping at the multitude of stores along the boardwalk.
I would highly recommend Jan's Place in the Sun for a lovely, relaxing beach vacation.
This is an exceptionally well appointed accommodation space. Our only regret was that we only had it for a night as it would be ideal for a beach holiday as it is a really easy walk to the beach. It is comfortable, well decorated and it has the widest television selection of any place we have stayed (we have been travelling for 3 months) - we actually found something we WANTED to watch. The kitchen was great but if you want to eat out then there is lots of choice also within walking distance. We would recommend this place to those who would like a relaxed beach holiday on the west coast of Florida.
Jan was a wonderful host! This was a last minute trip and she went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect for us! There were fresh sheets and towels (including beach towels), goodies in frig (bagels, juice and makings for a perfect cup of coffee). In addition, the property was "Florida Beach Theme" decorated and in a great location ~short walk to beautiful Gulf beach and St John's pass for entertainment. We wish we were there now! Thanks a bunch Jan for making our last minute Florida get-a-way grand!
We had an amazing time at Jan's place. We were met with tasty Apple fritters, fruits, and muffins. She has a beautiful beach style home with plenty for room for 2 people. As soon as we got there, we felt right at home. The neighborhood is filled with friendly people and it is a very short 2 minute walk to the beach. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you Jan!
We had such a wonderful time at Jan's place in the sun! It was perfectly furnished, amply stocked with necessities (dishes and beach towels), and even some surprise extras (bagels, cream cheese, and OJ)! The location is absolute perfection (not too far from St. Pete or Tampa) and I can't imagine we'd want to stay anywhere else during our next visit to Madeira Beach; provided it's available :)
Our romantic weekend was a total success in large part to our blissful accommodations and we highly recommend it!
Jan was a very accommodating host, making sure we had all we needed during our brief stay. The apartment was clean, cute and well stocked...I particularly appreciated the small french press so that I could try my loose tea bought from a local shop! It was a short walk to the beach as well as plenty of shopping and restaurants. Located in a neighborhood, it felt more like staying at a friends than an impersonal hotel. We will keep this place on our "use again" list. NOTE: The place is pretty small and has only the one bed, so singles/couples only suggested.
