Melides village is an authentic and beautiful village, which has found increasing appeal with well to-do Lisbon weekenders. The village has a spring with wonderful drinking water. All amenities are within 3 min. walking distance. Cafés, Restaurants, a well stocked small super market, bakery, the Village Square Café/Bar with a daily farmer's market, café & music program (July/August), ATM; Most all cafés do have WiFi.
We recommend renting a car at Lisbon airport, and driving to Melides, which takes 75min. for Lisbon. Alternatively, take the train (or bus) to Grandola and then arrange a pick up or take the taxi to Melides (approx. €25).
From Melides to the beach are 6km and the bus runs very infrequently (only twice a day).
Biking to the beach is also possible.
We also recommend walking and hiking in the surrounding cork oak and pine groves or to the spring and Melides lagoon with its rice fields and beautiful bird life, especially in the early morning or early evening.
Sto. André and Grandola are the next biggest towns 15 -20 min away with large super markets, such as Lidl, Continental etc.
Other Things to Note
The house stays cool in the summer due to it's old thick walls, but has central heating (a rarity in Portugal!), which make it an ideal retreat space also for the shoulder and off season times. It is a true sanctuary for creative work as its spaciousness lets the mind expand and the spirit soar, making it also a wonderful location for small seminars.
An old traditional Bakery oven is located in the downstairs kitchen. (Some restauration in progress.)
There is a wifi stick in the house which can be charged. Otherwise, all cafés in Melides provide Wifi access.
No Smoking or animals inside. Also no feeding in or around house.
This space has some personal history and items.
Use of washing machine €4 per load.
Perspective through Generous (Upstairs) Studio Space with 2nd kitchen & Bath, a full bed in one side and a single bed on the other side of the gallery. (Can be rented separately or with whole house.)

About the Host, Bhavya
Bhavya grew up in Berlin. She is a medical anthropologist by training and self-preneur in the healing arts. She loves to dance and co-founded Ecstatic Dance Berlin, a free form conscious dance event. She lives both in Berkeley, California and Berlin, and whenever she can also in Melides, Portugal and Brazil. ;-)
The beautiful house in Portugal, which she shares with her brother Felix, is the legacy of their father Volker who was a well known Berlin Architect, especially known for his contributions to creative and humane public housing.
(Felix is an actor and gifted comedian, arguably the most popular "cave man." When he is not touring, he teaches at the Hans-Eisler Schule for Performing Arts in Berlin.)
Bhavya also sometimes rents her cute little rooftop studio in Berlin.
