I'm offering a private room in my sunny apartment. It's located in a nice multicultural district, within walking distance of many cool bars. Discover a different side of Antwerp, and still be very close to the historical center.
At your disposal is a big, quiet room with double bed, table and wardrobe. Right across to your room is the bathroom with toilet and shower (shared, with me). The living room is cosy with lots of light. Feel free to hang out and relax. There's also a desk, if you need to get some work done.
Interaction with Guests
I'll try to make you feel welcome and at home. I love travelling, and I love sharing travel stories. Free tourist information is available. I'll try to give you tips of where to go and what to see, where to drink, to eat or to go out in Antwerp or elsewhere in Belgium.
During the day I'm working and I come home late, around 8 or 9. My parents live below. So if you arrive earlier or have urgent questions we can make an arrangement. It won't be a problem for you.
In the weekends we can go out and have a drink or party, if you'd like.
The flat is located in a great and increasingly popular neighborhood. It's multicultural and alternative, with lots of nice bars very close. Don't worry, I'll tell you where to find them or take you there. Also around the corner there's a great art gallery, called Zeno X. And there's a legendary concert hall/cinema, called De Roma. And lots of nice restaurants, snackbars and shops, too. Plenty of groceries, bakeries, butchers and supermarkets within walking distance.
We're only 20 minutes walking from the Antwerp Central train station. Excellent railroad connections bring you to Ghent, Bruges or Brussels (city and airport) in less than an hour.
A convenient way of getting around in Antwerp is using the public bike-system, which is called Velo-Antwerpen. There’s a Velo-station in front of the house and you can subscribe to a day- or week-pass on their website: (website hidden).
But there are also enough busses and trams. From my flat, there's a tram going to the historical centre every 10 minutes. If you prefer to walk, you can get from my flat to the old town in 30 minutes.
You can park your car on the street, the rate is 3.8 euro for 10 hrs (=1 day / free at night & on sundays). Take care: don't park in front of any garage door, even when there's no sign on it! Free parking space is approx. 750 meters away.
Other Things to Note
Of course (OF COURSE) there's free WIFI available.
Towels and bed linen are provided, as well as coffee and tea.
I'm new to this, so if you have have any more questions, feel free to ask.
When I’m travelling or at work, my parents who live below, will be happy to receive and host you. We all speak Dutch (mothertongue), English and French fluently, and some German.
Hopefull to see you soon!
No smoking except on the balcony.
Check-in time preferred between 17 and 22h (weekdays) or between 14 and 22h (sat&sun), but other arrangements can be made.
If you use the kitchen, please do the dishes afterwards. I'm having a hard time keeping up with my own! The good news is that a dishwasher is at your disposal.
Please don't eat my food :)
Please try to leave the room as you found it: clean and orderly. If you have the time, I'd appreciate if you would remove the bedding from the bed before leaving.
We had a beautiful stay in the house of Leen and Dirk.
They are very friendly hosts and we can recomment this appartement
Tout était bien - le quartier, l'appartement, l'accueil, la ville d'Anvers. Une adresse hautement recommandée!
I spent 2 months in Frederik's room.
My stay was very pleasant. Frederik and his parents have always been friendly and very helpful. It' s always a pleasure to meet such nice people when you work and live in another country. I'd recommend Frederick's room to anybody is going to visit Antwerp, for a short or a longer stay, for work or just for holidays.
I would like to thank Frederik and his parents for a most pleasant stay. Although we were not really sociable gests (the conference we were attending in Antwerp had a very busy schedule, and thus we left every day early in the morning and returned late in the evening), they did their best to make our stay comfortable, answered all our questions and offered any help needed. The room is very comfortable with a nice small balcony to sit on and enjoy an evening drink. The kitchen, bathroom, living room etc. are shared with Frederink, but it is of course no problem, on the contrary. The only little disadvantage were the mosquitos, which from time to time flew in the room during the night - but a repellent would easily solve it, we just forgot to bring it and had no time to buy it.
The flat is awesome. Super home-y and clean. Better than some of the hotels I've been staying in. Frederik had the place stocked with towels, coffee, maps etc. I didn't get to meet Frederik, but his nice mother greeted us, showed us around the apartment and let us be. The neighborhood is different, safe but different. My brother and I have visited the most major cities (Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris) so Antwerp was a different change of pace. A nice one. Overall, great experience.
We stayed at Frederik's for 5 nights.. We had a lovely experience, his dad received us and made us feel at home. . The place is well connected but it is on the other side of old town but not to far.. The place was clean and nice.. We really enjoyed our stay.
Frederik is super friendly and helpful. Staying at his place was perfect. The room is lovely, spacious and quiet. His parents are very kind and understanding. Next time i'll pass by Antwerp, i'll definitely go back there!
Hello. We are Dirk and Leen, both in our fifties. Leen is HR-manager in a large hospital, Dirk is spokesperson for an NGO. We love nature, literature, theater and to travel. Our son Frederik started hosting via AirBnB, and after he moved out we decided to continue because we enjoy meeting people from all over the world.
