The Space

We have been taking guests in our own family home for over 20 years. Spacious twin and single rooms are available to rent. Great access to Dublin's delights is available via our 5 bus routes. Its history, culture and pubs are just on your doorstep.

This is a large detached home, situated on a quiet road with no through traffic. And we have THREE rooms available to rent, despite the glitch which only allows us to mention one room in the listing on the right! We love to talk if people want to talk! Over the years we have catered for the Lead Teachers from the People to People Student Ambassador programme in the US. Because we enjoyed this so much we have branched out into the AirBnB scene. Our family have moved out and we have empty rooms now, and so we enjoy the company of guests and visitors.
3 rooms are available, twin and a single rooms ... single occupancy is at €35 per night, with an extra guest at €25 sharing in the twin.
You can book anywhere from one up to six bedspaces from this site, but some people find it easier to book the second pair of rooms separately. See the "Lovely Dublin Home-Part 2" elsewhere on AirBnB. Find it easily by searching for "Ballyroan, Dublin" in the top left hand side of the AirBnB website main page.

Directly nearby is the foothills of the Dublin mountains and the famous Wicklow Way walking route.
Rathfarnham Castle is just down the road ,as well as 5 great local parks including Marlay Park and Bushy Park.
A bus leaves our local bus stops every ten minutes, and provides ready access to the City Centre. The bus is definitely the best way to get around the city. Dedicated bus lanes avoid the daily traffic snarls.

Breakfast will be provided at a time of your choice every day.

The quiet local neighbourhood is a guarantor of a good night's rest.
A good pub ( the Blue Haven) is within 300 meters of the door.
And Trendy pub ( the Rathfarnham Orchard) is 800 meters away!

Loads of buses leave the area for the City Centre!

  • Ger and Jean are super friendly and accomodating! Good breakfast, clean (bath)room and comfortable beds (2 singles). We only stayed one night in Dublin and retrospectively thought their place was too far from city centre. Note: bring coins for the exact bus fare. And last bus leaves 11:30 pm from the city.

They helped me very much with information about Dublin: buses timetable, pubs:-), prices, maps, and interesting places in Dublin.
And they also gave me recommendation to take Glendaloch bus tour(day tour to beautiful lakes Glendaloch)
Lovely Dublin Home in a very quiet and green location with friendly people, just about 15 minutes on bus from Trinity college.

I would highly recommend staying with Ger And Jean McGovern in Dublin.

  • Ger and Jean were very welcoming and helpful with local advice. Jean generously helped us by providing a washing service and our gluten free request was also accommodated.

  • Ger and Jean are amazing people! Really nice and they love making a conversation. They're always happy to help you with any information you may need about Dublin. The rooms were clean, the mattress were comfortable and breakfast was quite good too. The only little problem is that you have to share the bathroom with the guests that rented the other two rooms and I don't think this was clear enough on the website. Also, there are no nightbuses to the house after 11 pm, so we had to take taxis to come back each night. Other than that, Ger and Jean's room is a perfect choice!

We are a mature couple with four grown-up children. Ger worked for Guinness Brewery as a Brewer for 30 years, and is now retired but consulting! Jean is a retired teacher and enjoys meeting new people in the comfort of our own home. We both go hiking on the weekend in the Dublin and Wicklow mountains.
