We are a young, artsy family who would love to offer you a fabulous DC experience. We work in the spa industry and pride ourselves on providing impeccable hospitality and care. I am one of DC's veteran skin gurus and direct a med spa in Chevy Chase, MD. I work with my husband, which makes me his boss at work and at home! :)
My husband, Jason, is an accomplished photographer, rock musician and massage therapist. He's spent the past eight years documenting ancient religious minorities in Syria and has a book and several audio projects coming out soon. He's played music all over the world and now plays just a few shows a year. The art decorating the condo comes from his past exhibits.
We designed the condo ourselves and wanted to make it as "green" as possible. Nearly everything is recycled, refurbished or repurposed. It was important for us that the condo be environmentally designed for comfort, style and relaxation.
Spread out in our spacious 900 sq. ft. 1 bedroom condo with open concept kitchen, dining and living room. We custom-built the space to be private, fully independent and kid friendly. The wide entrance stairs, sound-isolated nine foot ceilings and heated polished-concrete floors truly set the condo apart from most. Modern decor compliments century-old brick walls and reclaimed wood accents.
The kitchen comes stocked with all the basics to satisfy your inner chef. Everything from organic milk to sun-dried Mexican chipotles can be bought with a quick walk to the neighborhood grocery stores. In season, the Mt Pleasant farmers market is a Saturday morning must. Bad coffee can be a bummer, so we supply locally roasted organic coffee, agave nectar, and a French press to get your morning started right.
I've outfitted some of DC's finest spas, so in our bathroom you'll find a custom seated Italian tile shower (perfect after a long day in the city), a beautiful glass-top vanity, soft towels, hair dryer, and travel toothbrushes & toiletries if you forget yours. There's also a full size washer and dryer stocked with hypoallergenic detergent.
Our condo easily sleeps 4 with room for 6. The master bedroom has a super comfy queen-sized bed and large walk-in closet. The living room offers a modern daybed with two plush twin mattresses that convert into a king if desired. Upon request, a comfy queen air mattress is also available. Watch TV and movies or listen to music in both rooms on 43" plasma televisions equipped with Apple TVs that stream HBO, Netflix, Smithsonian TV and PBS.
Mount Pleasant was first built for Washington's elite back in the late 1800's and is now a historic district known for ethnic diversity, elegant architecture and strong ties to the bluegrass and punk movements. Musicians such as Bo Diddley, Jimmy Dean, Nation of Ulysses and Fugazi have all called Mt Pleasant home over the decades.
Just steps away from us are award winning restaurants, grocery stores, and even Target. The lively neighborhoods of Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, and Dupont are within walking distance and the White House is about three miles down 16th Street. Walk through Rock Creek Park for a tour of the historic Pierce Mill or marvel at the opulent 25 acre Hillwood Estate - home to the most comprehensive collection of Russian imperial art outside of Russia.
Traveling with kids? A playground for little ones is just around the corner or walk down the hill to the National Zoo where admission is free. Sit for story time at the newly renovated Mt Pleasant library and check out original artwork by the artist Aurelius Battaglia who later worked on Disney's Dumbo.
Public transport is excellent in our neighborhood...walk to the metro, hop on a bus, rent a bike through Capital Bike Share or drive around with Zip Car - all just minutes from our door.
If you are driving your own car, we can provide a parking permit with advance notice. Parking in our neighborhood is not difficult. You will be able to find a spot on our block or the next one pretty easily.
Columbia Heights metro station (green line) is a 10-15 minute walk from the condo. Cleveland Park (red line) is less than 5 min ride on the H4 bus which is minutes from our door. For those wanting to hit the White House or National Mall, walk 2 minutes and catch the S4 bus which goes down 16th Street. The White House is about a 10 minute bus ride and the Mall is another ten.

My husband and I spent the weekend in this absolutely gorgeous condo. The space was beautiful and comfortable, right down to the last detail. Our hosts were outstanding communicators and provided answers to our questions at every turn. A perfect experience, thank you -- we'll be back!
Wow! Jenny's place is amazing! I have spent a lot of time in DC and I have never stayed in a more beautiful space. Everything about this place is perfect. It is in a great neighborhood with plenty of parking and easy access to public transportation. There are bunch of great restaurants close by and it is safe both day and night. Inside, Jenny has spared no expense. The attention to detail is better than many luxury hotels. I especially loved that the floors are heated. It was just so comfortable and welcoming. Jenny couldn't have been a better host. I will definitely be staying here whenever I come to DC, even if I have to change the dates of my trips to coincide with the apartment's availability. It was fabulous!
Jenny was lovely, always available, and the place was beautiful. I was very comfortable and the location is nestled in a nice neighborhood with a variety of shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.
Just like staying in a top hotel but better! Good location with great tips from Jenny & Jason re local places to eat! Will definitely be staying again xxxx
If all the spaces on Airbnb were as nice as this one, I would never stay in a hotel again. A colleague and I stayed here during a convention, and we couldn't have been happier. Jenny is awesome; very accommodating and available for questions. Jason was welcoming as well. The apartment is very clean, decorated with an Asian Zen theme. Pretty large with more than enough room for the two of us. Comfy furniture and beds (the daybed with trundle makes for a surprisingly comfortable king-sized bed). All appliances worked splendidly, and the provided coffee and hot tea was a plus. Nice big shower and bathroom with all the amenities of a 4-star hotel (extra toiletries, numerous clean towels, hair dryer, etc.). The apartment has two flat screen televisions equipped with Apple TV so you can enjoy Netflix and HBO Go.
The apartment is also in a great location. Cute neighborhood within walking distance of several restaurants and bars. The zoo is right next door, and the Columbia Heights metro station is a short stroll as well. Jenny and Jason provide lots of restaurant recommendations, delivery menus from several spots, and a map of the metro lines.
All in all, everything was perfect. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place and the hosts. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in DC!
Apartment is beautiful. Jenny and Jason were gracious and responsive hosts. The area, Mt Pleasant, is delightful, with dozens of ethnic restaurants within walking distance. Bus to Dupont Circle was a five minute walk away. Metro 10 minutes.
No one will find anyplace in the Washington area as good at twice the price.
This was a five star air bnb experience all the way - the apartment is amazing (ultra comfortable and also very tastefully decorated), Jenny and Jason were terrific hosts (responsive and friendly), and the neighbourhood is very appealing (has lots of character and features cute bars, restaurants and cafes). Highly recommended!
My family and I just finished up a great visit to Washington, DC with friends and family over the Christmas holidays. This was due in no small part to the wonderful accommodations at Jenny’s place. The location is convenient for visiting both the old (Mall, downtown, etc.) and the new (Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, U Street corridor, etc.) hotspots of Washington. The house was beautiful, well-appointed and had all of the amenities we needed (wi-fi, flat screen TV with movie access, fridge, etc.). Most of all, Jenny’s space comfortably slept 5 people (with the help of a self-inflating, blow-up, queen-size mattress) and was within walking distance to my mother’s apartment on the edge of Columbia Heights. Jenny was also a good host, checking in via text from time to time to see if we needed anything and to make sure our visit was going well. Because I am a native Washingtonian, I didn’t use the many restaurant recommendations, suggested activities and maps that were available to us at the house. Still a nice touch nonetheless. All in all, Jenny’s place did not disappoint. I will seek to stay here again on return visits with my family, as well as recommend her spot to my friends.
My partner and I stayed at this apt for 6 nights. It's exactly how displayed on the pictures. This basement apartment has everything you might need. From a big kitchen, comfy bed to Apple TV. I can definitely recommend it! Jenny was very quick on response and helped when needed. Thank you!
A wonderful place to stay! Jenny & Jason were the pefect hosts. Jason met us and explained everything. The apartment is very spacious , has a beautiful post-modern bathroom, and the latest in home entertainment. And lots of wonderful travel books! It is easily accessible from the Metro and the neighborhood felt very safe. I would strongly recommend staying there!!
