Located at the end of a 500 meter walking and bike track, privacy, serenity and valley views are assured. This huge 2 bedroom villa has views from all parts of the property. It is ideal for 2 couples or a large family. You'll love it - everyone does.

The space

Villa Timpal Timpal (Friends' Villa) is situated in Ubuds well known artists’ village of Penestanan. Just an hour from the airport and 500m above sea level, guests enjoy a more temperate climate than the coast.

The villa is a private and secure two-bedroom residence situated on a quiet gang in the Penestanan rice fields. It provides the ideal place for relaxing and enjoying Ubud's unique cultural and dining experiences. This quality villa provides river views and is a short walk from several local restaurants, spa complexes, yoga studios and a supermarket.

It is a 25min walk to the centre of Ubud or 300m walk to the nearest road and taxi-stand where you can find a trip to Ubud central (just a 5min drive) for about 3USD. Once in the villa you are in your own tropical paradise, free to relax and enjoy the privacy of the gardens, listening to the stream, watch fireflies and make use of the swimming pool and other facilities.

Although you cannot drive up to the villa (if you could it wouldn’t be so peaceful and relaxing) there is a 300 meter footpath leading from the house to the main road (Jalan Chumphuan). And another track (500 meters) that allows walking and motorbike access from Penestanan village. The villa also provides undercover parking facilities for motor bikes.

The villa is fantastic for nature lovers. Very scenic, large rooms and large living room with kitchen. The reality very well matches with the hosted pictures. The Steve is very responsive and had a perfect check in process even though we reached at night time. The little disappoint is the responsiveness of helper. The helper never attended my phone calls.

We had a great time at Villa Timpal Timpal, it was even more beautiful in real than it is on the pictures. The pool is perfect to chill out and the villa itself has everything we could possibly need. Steve was reactive and helpful and Koming was great. We would be happy to come back in the future and warmly recommend the villa for its privacy and for the mermerazing nature of the surroundings.

We come to Penestanan for years and villa Timpal Timpal is out absolute favourite now. Great architecture with fantastic jungle views and the convenient location to local warungs are the highlights. The aircondition works perfect, if needed and the large living space can be closed completely, which was a big advantage when I had to work. Kuming, the caretaker, made great breakfast with scrambled eggs and fresh fruit from the markets. We had friends staying with us for a few nights and the variety of different sitting areas was fantastic then - they loved it too. On our next trip to Penestanan we will certainly try to stay here again.

Steve met us at the assigned meeting point and was helpful in getting us situated in our new surroundings. It was exactly as described in the listing and we had a wonderful time. There are restaurants in the area, and we cooked several great meals once we found the shortcut to the Bintang grocery store. As long as you know you will be doing a lot of walking on paths (amongst awesome scenery) it is highly recommended.

Response from Steve:
The host received a confirmed booking minutes before this booking came through. The changes made on the calendar had not updated to airbnb calendar in that time and so the villa appeared available when it was not. The guest was offered another of our villas as an alternative. Steve.

This was our first trip to Bali and we only came to Ubud. We stayed a week at Villa Timpal Timpal and selected it because we needed a two bedroom place to suit two couples and didn't want to pay more than $800 a week (including airbnb fees). The price has gone up quite a bit since we booked in 2014. The falling Australian dollar accounts for the price rise to some extent, but not entirely. Maybe the price was artificially low, until the villa received a few airbnb reviews? Anyway, seems we got a good deal. Only had one problem - the blinds are see through/not in great condition (see note about bedrooms below). Don't book this place without checking it's been fixed. It was very annoying by the end of the week. The villa feels very luxurious. It looks exactly as it does in the photos (and maybe a bit better?) Also do a search online - lots of reviews for this property on other websites. We liked the location at the end of the winding path (only accessible by motorbike). Very quiet and private as described. It's a short walk up the hill to the supermarket (short once you work out the best route - takes a few goes). After a day or so, we realised the area is densely built up, with many villas designed to rent to foreigners. Despite the density it felt very remote. Lots of very nice, but touristy warung's nearby. Easy to walk into town or rent a motorbike if you prefer. I was hoping to rent a bicycle (I ride at home). This wasn't practical given the villas location, the enormous steep hill and busy road into town. A generous breakfast was provided each day (excellent bread from Casa Luna) Well equipped kitchen - including a blender. It has air-conditioning, but we never needed it. Wifi is temperamental, slowish, but not too bad. Lovely pool - very deep at one end (I couldn't touch the bottom). We didn't meet Steve, but Koming was quite helpful and never intrusive. The problem. One bedroom is upstairs with a balcony and the other is across from the lounge. Alex and I had the lower room and the other couple had the room upstairs. The room upstairs is excellent - very private within the villa. The lower bedroom is not private (within the villa). We wouldn't recommend renting the villa until new blinds or curtains are installed. Some are broken so you cannot shut them and they are entirely see through when the light is on inside the room at night, which means you have no privacy if the other couple are still in the lounge room. This is a problem given that the bathroom is designed without a door! This was quite irritating by the end of the week.

We loved our stay in Villa Timpal Timpal so much! It is situated in a very beautiful and special part of Penestenan and we felt at home there immediately. The house itself is lovely and Steve and his staff are helpful and hospitable. The pool was lovely and the beautiful layout of the separate rooms was perfect for our family to spend time together or have plenty of space to spread out for alone time too. The bin tang supermarket had everything we could want within walking distance and the walk there was completely beautiful! We highly recommend Villa Timpal Timpal for people wanting to really relax and feel at home in the beautiful surrounds of this amazing island.
