About this listing
Villa Nangka is built on terraces overlooking the river valley below. The top terrace, up 30 steps is the 2 bedroom living area. Below this is the pool on a separate terrace. This is fully fenced and safe.
This property uses open plan living to its best.
Villa Nangka (Jackfruit Villa) is situated on the edge of Ubud's well known artists’ village of Penestanan. Just an hour from the airport and 500m above sea level, guests enjoy a more temperate climate than the coast.
The villa is a private and secure two-bedroom residence situated on a quiet walking and bike lane in the Penestanan rice fields. It provides the ideal place for relaxing and enjoying Ubud's unique cultural and dining experiences. This quality villa provides river views and is a short walk from several local restaurants, spa complexes, yoga studios and a supermarket.

Once in the villa you are in your own tropical paradise, free to relax and enjoy the privacy of the gardens, listening to the stream, watch fireflies and make use of the swimming pool and other facilities.
Although you cannot drive up to the villa (if you could it wouldn’t be so peaceful and relaxing) there is a 300 meter footpath leading from the house to the main road (Jalan Chumphuan). And another track (400 meters) that allows walking and motorbike access from Penestanan village.
The villa features:
A large 2.5m X 7m pool with a view of tropical gardens, the river valley and jungle.
A spacious main bedroom with en-suite bathroom, king sized bed. This bedroom has a ceiling fan as well as air-conditioning and a hotel safe.
A second bedroom with 2 single beds that come together as another king sized bed. This bedroom also has a ceiling fan, air-conditioning, ensuite bathroom and hotel safe..
An open air living/dining/kitchen area overlooking the pool and valley below.
The fully equipped kitchen features gas cooking facilities, refrigerator and a water cooler.
The living area has a beautiful cathedral timber ceiling with ceiling fans. It also features an inviting day bed, large flat screen TV
Indovision satellite television and comfortable furniture.
Free wifi internet
One room boy / gardener and security staff at night.
Unlimited bottled water.
A parking area for motorbikes.
Interaction with Guests
Wayan is your room boy and he will attend to all your holiday needs. He makes your breakfast, cleans the villa and pool and also can assist with holiday plans.
Ubud is located 35 km northeast of Bali's International Airport. It is attractive to tourists for a variety of reasons. On a relatively small island with a horde of attractions, Ubud is centrally located, There are plenty reasons why Ubud was voted in recently as the most fascinating city of Asia by Condé Nast Traveler.
The Ubud area is around two to three hundred meters above sea level and surrounded by rice fields, which makes it noticeably cooler than other tourist destinations in Bali. Neighbouring villages are well known for unique bamboo crafts and furniture, wood and stone carving and many other crafts.
Ubud is famous for it's regularly nightly traditional dance performances, which are part of the traditional culture and are arranged for tourists on a regular schedule. Hindu-Balinese ceremonies take place on a nearly daily basis, especially in the European summer, which is the driest and coolest season here.
Ubud is popular in part today because it is the best place in Bali to break out of the tourist mode and get off the beaten path, although far from undiscovered. Hotels are plentiful; home stays and Indonesian guesthouses (losmen) are easily available to the foreign tourist. Many tourists simply base their entire stay here and travel to other destinations from Ubud.
Accommodations in Ubud are also somewhat more reasonably priced than in the beach towns of Bali. But atmosphere is perhaps the major attractions. One visitor summed it up this way: Kuta is madness, Sanur is sterile, and Nusa Dua is culturally isolated; Ubud is the place to go.
This villa is 300 meters down a walking and bike lane. Transport is available on the main road 300 meters away.
Other Things to Note
Generally we have a minimum booking of three nights, however one or two day bookings will be accepted if they fall within short vacancies.
We had a lovely five day stay at gorgeous Villa Nangka. The villa is in the most gloriously picturesque location and so delightfully quiet. The views across the river valley from the villa are so, so lovely. The villa was spotless and the rooms were incredibly spacious. The fact that the pool had a fence and gate was a relief to us as parents. Wayan was incredibly helpful and made us a delicious breakfast each morning. After the traffic and sensory overload of Ubud, returning to Penestanan via the footpaths (instead of roads) was so, so lovely. The little neighbourhood was so lovely, the small warungs and restaurants meant we could stay in the calm and quiet some days/nights. We loved this place and we'd come back in a heartbeat. Steve was always super efficient and gracious in responding to our messages - thank you kindly.
We had a lovely time in Villa Nangka. A great location with jungle views. Very modern setup, the only weakness was very weak wifi that did not work most of our 5 day stay. We admittedly were not in Ubud to stay indoors and use Wifi all day, so we did not make a big deal about this. A very lovely place with an excellent entertainment area, and excellent bathrooms/bedrooms. Thanks Steve, it was a pleasure dealing with you. We will use your service next time we are in Ubud and recommend you. Justin
Steve made us feel very welcome in his beautiful villa.
The successful holiday began with the transportation from our Seminyak villa to Villa Nangka (and then onto the airport a few days later) being very well organised and priced.
As mentioned in other reviews, Villa Nangka is spotlessly clean and beautifully put together.
The room boy, Wayan, was lovely - he pottered around the villa so quitely that it didn't disturb us at all. He also made a great breakfast of fruit, toast, eggs, pancakes and tea/coffee for us each morning.
The villa was very well equipped with a fully fitted 'indoor-outdoor' kitchen (including unlimited cold drinking water), cool air-con, indoor and outdoor fans, comfortable beds, big bathrooms with high pressure rainfall showers and lovely cooling pool.
The location of the villa was perfect - it was nice and quiet as it is set back from the road but only a 10 minute (40,000IDR ride into Ubud town) from any of the many taxis parked in Penestanan.
Steve provided detailed information (maps, restaurant menus and guidance) on the surrounding area which was greatly appreciated.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all friends!
Thank you Steve.
Villa Nangka is a peaceful hideaway nestled in the jungle about 300 metres from the main road. It's a beautiful escape for the world in a very peaceful setting. The breakfast service was fantastic and I'll be sure to visit again.
A beautiful getaway in Ubud! This villa is the perfect place for 4 people. The villa is modern and in perfect condition. We loved the open air for eating and lounging and it was nice to have the air con for the bedrooms. It took us about 10 minutes on motorbikes to get to the downtown of Ubud. Wayan (the caretaker) was always available if we had any needs!
Villa Nangka is absolutely amazing. It is excellently finished, the bathrooms and showers exceptional, and the pool refreshing and private. This was just the perfect place to hideaway for a few days to recharge.
Wayan took exceptional care of us during our stay and helped organise scooters and transfers for us. He was absolutely brilliant.
I will definitely stay here again and cannot recommend Villa Nangka highly enough.
