Interaction with Guests
I wish to be helpful and accommodating to my guest and to provide them private, comfortable accommodations. I am friendly and outgoing but respectful of my guest's need to have space.
I love that I am right across the street from a quaint small historic shopping area which houses the most sought after bakery in the Heights, a nice restaurant, salon/spa, and shops featuring antiques, woman's clothing, needlepoint, children's clothing and a general gift shop! There is also a yoga studio in the back of the shops! I one block from the Shaker Lakes if you wish to take a leisurely walk or run. The Cleveland area is very bike friendly! The habitat around the Shaker Lakes is also known for being on fall and spring migration routes for many birds.
Off street parking is available at my home. There is a rapid transit to downtown 1 mile from my home. My home can be reached from the airport via cab or arrangements with me on a limited basis for an extra fee.
Other Things to Note
T'ai chi classes are held in my basement 3 times a week (I am not the teacher!) You would be welcome to try class for a nominal fee. I do have 2 dogs and my African Gray parrot, George, may say "Hello" when you enter the house! Don't be surprised!! A shelf is maintained for you in the refrigerator if you wish for keeping your food. My washer and dryer are available for your use. Line drying is also an option.
Maximum of 2 adults. I love children but my dogs have not been around them and I always err on the side of protecting children. No smoking is allowed, nor additional pets. I expect my guests to let me know if I can be of help in any way. My rule for myself is to make your stay as comfortable as possible!
The accommodations, in a cozy house, are on the second floor, affording complete privacy in very comfortable suite. The host is a lovely person, easy to chat with and goes out of her way to be helpful and make one's stay easy. I received a gift that was too large for my luggage and she volunteered to take it to UPS for me. That's surely not an everyday host!
Thank you, Paula. What a wonderful home and hospitality. I look forward to staying at your home again when I visit family in Cleveland.
Paula responded quickly to messages and was most welcoming. The space is all of the second floor. It is charming, clean and quiet, and tastefully decorated with antiques and artwork. Paula is the perfect host. We had occasional interesting chats as I passed through the first floor, but we respected each other's privacy. The location has it all: a lovely residential area with a small retail area directly across the street which has a grassy median for a nice buffer. With a simple walk across the street, I had easy access to a gourmet bakery/coffeehouse; a highly-rated bistro restaurant; and a newer yoga studio that offered classes throughout the day. Although it was warm outside, the space has central air and ceiling fans; it also looks onto green backyards making for a peaceful retreat. Next time I am in town, I plan to stay again.
Paula was great! She was very kind and friendly, and the space was excellent. She did not blink at my somewhat odd hours and gave me great recommendations on dining and recreation in the area.
The bedroom was clean and spacious, and the private bathroom was near perfect. The additional sitting room was a nice bonus. The parking space next to the garage was a real plus, too! Paula also left me water and granola bars, which was a very nice gesture.
Paula is very welcoming, makes you feel at home and will share everything she knows about the area to assist your stay! She has the perfect space for privacy and the area she lives is quiet and safe.
Paula's place never disappoints. Always clean, welcoming, and comfortable. Not to mention her incredible hosting abilities! I never have to worry staying at Paula's. Everything is always communicated and my trip is always excellent. Her house and her warmth make me feel at home every trip!
Paula's place is perfect if you want to stay in the shaker/Cleveland heights area. There is plenty of room, I liked that the bedroom and the working area are separate, like having a suite in a nice hotel. Paula is very nice, I am happy I got to know her. She is very welcoming and flexible. I will stay at Paula's anytime I am in Cleveland and would recommend her place with no hesitation.
About the Host, Paula
Favorite things I enjoy are weaving, traveling, doing organic and native Ohio gardening, cooking, T'ai Chi and reading. I like animals and have 2 dogs and an African Grey parrot named George (she's a girl- I know, hard to tell!). I want to be a bird-watcher - well I AM a bird watcher, but not a good bird identifier! As School Nurse in a local High School I have the great good fortune to have my winter with teenagers and summers off which presents a whole myriad of other opportunities. Bottom line is I love spending time with interesting people and good friends (they are not mutually exclusive!).
