Brilliant 1800s home away from home serves as an ideal city location in walking distance to all the best Dublin sites (St. Patrick's Cathedral & Stephen's Green are not more than a 10 min walk from our house), restaurants (we have the Michelin star Camden Kitchen on our street), and music- pubs (the famous Whelans & Devitt's nearby)! We offer a popular treat of fresh home-made breakfast crepes for those staying on the weekend.

The space

This Georgian period room features in this great family 3 bedroom, 1.5 shared family bathroom, 2.5 story house with garden level Airbnb apartment that accommodates 4 people below. Guests in our home are given the spacious Master bedroom with a gorgeous comfortable King size wood sleigh-bed and period feature fireplace (albeit non-working and only decorative).

We are a Frenchman and Californian lady with 2 children living in Dublin for nearly 20 years and are happy to be your hosts. We do our best to be eco-friendly and organic with all of our household products. Our family enjoys having friendly guests about from all over the world, and it helps us cover the high utility bills in year round heating a big, high-ceiling early 19th century historic house within the cool climate of Dublin.

Guests are welcome to use our cozy family kitchen, eat homemade crepes with us on Sunday mornings, avail of fresh bathroom towels and do a load of wash if staying nearly a week. Also free WIFI connection is available.

We live in a great neighborhood, filled with delightful cafes, small markets, charity shops, pubs/live music, parks, and within a 10 minute walk to the city center (including Grafton Street, Stephen's Green, the National Concert Hall, and St. Patrick's Cathedral). Hidden gems in our neighborhood are the Iveagh Gardens (which features a hedge labyrinth and angel fountains), and the old Jewish neighborhood with its own special Bretzel bakery, and the canal full of swans. Public transport is readily available with bus lines just 2 mins away, the LUAS train 3 blocks from us, and
DublinBikes for rent on our street. Everything you could want to experience in Dublin is within easy access!

Guest access

Guests can use anything in the kitchen (including bulk foods and spices); hair blower (in guest room); iron; family shampoos or toothpaste; towels; videos & travel guides.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to chat with guests when encountered! Guests are considered a part of the family when about, so don't be surprised if we are chatting to you when we are still in our bathrobes! :)

Other things to note

We offer accommodation in a FAMILY lived-in home, NOT a classic B&B. So please don't expect all the fancy stuff you find in hotels and such. If you want that, feel free to book in the 100-400 Eur (the going rates in our area) rooms around the corner from us.

Also please note we have a new cat (as of 25th Dec. 2016), so sorry to decline those with allergies!

We have central heating through radiators (that cannot be adjusted) and keep the heating going up from 6:30- 11:30am & 4-11pm in the winter. We consider that fair and reasonable. If you come from a warmer climate than that of Ireland, and don't climatise easily, you may want to bring extra layers for warmth to suit yourself. To be fair, please don't expect us to leave the very expensive heating on all night, unless you want to pitch in an extra 10Euro per night.

Please note our shower has an anti-scalding mechanism which never permits it to get super hot and sometimes cuts out for a minute to regulate the temperature. If you prefer the super hot, go for our clawfoot bath with shower nozzle which will always deliver 100% hot water for your satisfaction. Many European homes only have the bath with shower nozzle anyway. If that is not optimal for you, do consider a different Airbnb host.

This is a great place! Good location, great hospitality from Danielle and Francois, the room (and their home) is beautiful, comfortable and cozy. I stayed here at the end of a trip staying in many places and this bed - so comfortable! I walked all over Dublin from here. It's so close to great places to eat (I loved Brother Hubbard and enjoyed a nice dinner down the street at Camden Kitchen) and convenient from the airport as well. I'd go on but you get it. Just stay here.

Hospitality alone made this choice for our stay in Dublin worth it. I ended up getting sick on our flight from California to Dublin. Upon landing I reached out to Danielle prior to checking in and asked the best way of reaching a doctor. She called up her own and made an appointment for me right away. The doctor was so incredibly sweet and and annoying as my first 30 minutes in Ireland were it couldn't have gone any smoother thanks to Danielle. About her home: Its close to everything! Perfect for those looking to walk to the center of Dublins finest. I'd say an ideal spot for 1 or 2 travelers looking to explore and have a place to lay their head at night. The bathroom is a shareable one for the private room, but quite lovely. The shower will turn off every so often but you didn't do anything wrong, it's just adjusting the hot water. This is a family's home as she had put in her posting, so you will be beside her children's bedrooms, but we didn't hear a peep from either. The bed was larger in size which was perfect for two, a bit on the firmer side. There is an armoire to put your belongings along with a hairdryer. Remember to bring or buy converters for the outlets if from America. She had one for us to use, but you will need depending on how long you stay or if more than 1 person staying. The last night her husband was kind enough to serve us crepes that Sunday morning. The conversation was wonderful and I can't thank both of them enough.

I have always enjoyed my air b&b experiences, but Francois and Danielle's place was a home away home from. In addition, it is located only a couple of blocks away from Camden Street, which has many diverse restaurants, shopping, pubs etc. Francois was helpful and kind, and Leo, their cat, is delightful as well. The room is spacious, beautiful, and the bed was very comfy for a good night's rest. I will definitely return.

Daniele and Francois and their daughters are a lovely family in a cool older house in a great neighborhood. They make you feel very welcome and made me tea each evening to debrief the day's adventures. Nearby Camden street is very lively with shops and pubs (Devitt's does traditional irish music). I eat vegan and there were several vegan restaurants around (Sova Vegan Butcher and Happy Foods). The airlink bus service (route 757) to the airport has a stop that is super close to their house (Camden Street Charlotte Way) and takes about 40 minutes to get to Dublin airport. Danielle provides you with the airlink brochure as well as other ideas for things to do and places to eat. The hop-on-hop-off bus stops weren't as close (as most of them are closer to Temple bar area) but they do dip down into the portobello area around st stephen's green or the cathedral. So I did a lot of walking up into the temple bar area, but it isn't that far (10 minutes or so). The house has a shared bathroom and I liked the interior design. There is a separate room for the toilet from the room that has the sink, shower, and clawfoot tub. It was easy to share. The room is spacious with a view of the front street and the bed is big and very comfy. I like that the family recycles and is eco-friendly. It was a great experience.

Danielle's place is excellent! What a great time it was to stay in her place while visiting Dublin. The room is very large and includes a comfortable king bed. (Also the best shower ever!) Location is perfect with everything in walking range easily. Danielle was easy to reach and accommodated my check-in time and even lent me an umbrella for the rain. Would definitely recommend staying here if possible!

Danielle and Francois are the most congenial and welcoming hosts. Their home is just gorgeous and they somehow manage to balance guest privacy with their delight in meeting people from around the world. It's a lovely, restful base from which to explore Dublin.
