About this listing
Your bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed that sleeps two. There's a sliding door that opens to a private deck in the back yard, as well as a private bathroom with a tub and shower. Hear the ocean while you sleep! Close to Hwy. 1 bike route.
Please note below the county transient occupancy tax of 11%. This fee is separate from Airbnb fees and is payable to me, which I then pay to SC County.
You'll have your own room and bathroom with tub and shower. There's a door that opens to a deck and back yard. We also have another room with a futon that is available to use by arrangement, for an additional fee. Nearby is a park with a trail leading to the beach. In a few minutes you can walk to restaurants and to the resort that has a very nice bar (with live music sometimes) and restaurant.
You have access to the downstairs bedroom, bathroom and outside deck. Free parking on the street.
Your room includes coffee or tea and a continental breakfast.
You will have the downstairs to yourselves, as our main living space is upstairs. I'll bring your (continental) breakfast down to you at a pre-arranged time.
Our part of the Monterey Bay area is known for beautiful beaches, redwood forests, state parks, Pinot Noir and proximity to Bay Area cities San Francisco, Oakland and Palo Alto. We are also near Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Point Lobos and Big Sur- lots to do and see! Seascape Resort in the neighborhood is the venue for many events and weddings.
I can help you with directions and things to do- such as wine tasting, bike trails, and local events.
It's best to arrive by car. You can get around by bus, but it's time-consuming and not very convenient. Many people bike here but mostly for recreation, since there are bike trails and beautiful scenery nearby.

Other Things to Note
We need to add an 11% tax on the room, which must be collected from you, not airbnb. This is a county requirement. It comes to $11 per night. Please be prepared to pay it in cash.
The Santa Cruz County website has this information available.
Please, no smoking and no pets. This is a quiet, family neighborhood, so we expect our guests to respect the atmosphere. Late arrivals are ok if pre-arranged.
Cheri is the epitome of sweet and gracious. Loved the very private room and bath, lovely backyard and deck, and proximity to the bay, miles of nearly empty beach and views. There's a nearby clubhouse with great local jazz musicians--heard Cheri's husband sing! Lovely. Nice choices walkable for dinner and lunch. Felt very comfortable in the guestroom. Great night's sleep. Thanks!
Lovely & comfortable room & a very clean place. Cheri is a very warm host, very welcoming, she was very helpful with recommendations for places to check out etc. Would recommend this place to anyone.
While the cloudy and slightly chilly weather did not co-operate with Cheri's "sunny room" description, my husband and I enjoyed our one-night stay at Cheri's place. We arrived early in the evening and were welcomed to come and go as we pleased, which was great since a pregnancy craving sent us out at 10:30pm to the newest Marianne's' Ice Cream in Aptos (if you're a non-local and haven't heard of Marianne's Ice Cream yet, check it out! The original location is in Santa Cruz, not too far away).
Cheri was polite and welcoming, and offered us plenty of privacy. The room and bathroom were comfortable, spacious and clean, and in the morning, she delivered us breakfast (coffee, fruit, yogurt, and delicious muffins) served on attractive silver and china. Cheri was also quick to respond to our request to put seat cushions out on the deck chairs (they had been put up due to the weather). Overall, a pleasant experience!
My stay at Cheri's was really very nice. Cheri is a competent, warn and skillful host. Her room is lovely, quiet and peaceful. Every morning Cheri brought down beautiful fresh fruit, yogurt, home baked banana bread, and orange juice. I was able to make, in my room, tea or coffee whenever I wished. Cheri clearly loves what she does....did I mention the bottle of wine to greet me on my first evening? Nice! The location couldn't be better. The beach is a short stroll away, the neighborhood is quiet, and yet accessible from Santa Cruz itself. Thank you Cheri!
I only stayed at Cheri's house for one night as I was in the area to attend a friend's graduation party. I found Cheri's place to be clean, quiet and restful. It was so nice to awaken to a bowl of fresh fruit, banana bread, and yogurt all served on a silver platter. She provided real coffee and tea too. Her place is in an upscale area and a great alternative to the rather expensive resort that is close by.
This was our 2nd Airbnb experience and it was amazing. Cheri made us feel right at home, and we practically had the entire downstairs to ourselves. The house is a reverse floor plan so the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom is upstairs. We stayed downstairs in our own private room and bathroom across the hallway. It lead to a patio that we didn't use, but it seemed amazing. She made DELICIOUS breakfast for us. Yogurt and fresh fruit, and homemade banana bread! We had access to coffee and tea in our room. She was also amazing to talk to and had a lot of great suggestions about the area. We would recommend staying with Cheri to anyone.
Clean, cozy, great location. Cheri was exceptional. Warm and friendly, not far from the beach, quiet street, lovely room looking out to the outdoor porch.
About the Host, Cheri
I'm a French and English teacher, with 2 grown kids and a husband. Now that the kids are living elsewhere, we have room to welcome happy travelers. I love to hike and bike in the area. We enjoy the farmers' markets and produce stands, and I can safely say that my hobby is cooking, baking, collecting and making up recipes.
When not working, I'm probably traveling. The world is a big place, endlessly fascinating and worthy of the effort and expense it takes to experience it!
When home, we enjoy the local jazz scene; my husband sings jazz.
