We are part of a true working Thai fishing village that offers visitors the chance to stay in an unique and friendly community, that is also part of Traditional Thai village life and culture.
Therefore there is the opportunity for much interaction with the local people and animals, whom you will observe working on the boats, and in the streets, going to the mosque or temple, along with children, geckos, dogs, birds, roosters, chickens, cats and so on. If you're looking for a serene, quiet place miles from Thai life this is not the place.
Our closets sandy beach is on the west coast called Klong Nin.
The magic of Lanta Old Town is an intangible thing that's extremely hard to describe. If you're looking for a unique holiday or vacation experience, where you can truly step back to a time where life unfolds on a personal level, where fascinating cultural events take place on a day-to-day basis and when fresh seafood becomes a way of life, then Lanta Old Town might be the place for you...
The 100 year old, teak-wood-lined streets remain home to a cosmopolitan mix of Thai-Chinese, Thai-Buddhist, Thai-Muslim, Chao-Lay (Sea Gypsies) and a growing community of western residents.

We stayed for a month in the Lychee house, and it was one of the best places we have stayed in our travels anywhere. Susanna's houses are right on the water, and the views are just amazing. Watching the sunrise was breathtaking. The house was clean, and I loved the design--Susanna is an artist and you can definitely see the artistic touch. Internet connection was really good. Nice hot shower, though you may not need one that often! The kitchen was very well-stocked with everything you need to prepare your own meals.
Old Town was a great place to stay--a quick walk down the street and you can find some good restaurants, fresh fruits and vegetables, and several shops that carry a variety of goods. It is a very relaxed area and the people are super-friendly.
The island is not that big, and you can easily get to the beach area in a short time--the closest beach, Klong Nin is probably about a 15 minute motorbike ride, or less depending on how fast you are comfortable driving!. While we loved all of Koh Lanta, staying in a house like this right on the water, was definitely a special experience.
Highly recommend the house and Koh Lanta.
