About This Listing
Come stay in our "boys room" on the 2nd floor. Lots of space to yourself, or you can join us in the common areas of our family home. Ideal location for visits to New York, Westchester and Fairfield. We cannot accommodate smokers.
With my boys off at college, I have spruced up their bedroom to make it comfortable for travelers but the toys and games are still there for guests to enjoy. You will have space in the closet along with some of their things. This sunny and cheerful bedroom has two twin beds, a table and easy chair. There is cable television and wifi is reliable and fast. The room is on the second floor.
On occasion, you may share the newly renovated hall bathroom with another guest. There is a tub and shower and pedestal sink. The window in the shower fills the room with daylight.
Down the hall there is a small table where people can eat, read or have their morning coffee or tea which is self service and look out over the front garden. Meals are not included. You are welcome to prepare simple meals in our kitchen.
There is street parking but a car is not essential.
You are welcome to eat at our kitchen table or on our back deck in good weather. A 2nd floor table and fridge is also available. Laundry is for the use of guests staying a week or longer.
Interaction with Guests
I work from home so during the day I am available to answer quick questions but cannot take time from my work day for socializing, unfortunately. Of course I always like to get to know our visitors on arrival.
This is a suburban area with village charm. Downtown Old Greenwich is one block away with shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a post office and a supermarket. There are several beautiful parks and areas to hike. A bike is available for riding to the beach 1 mile from the house. Depending on the season and the time of day, entering the beach may require a $5 guest pass obtainable from the community center nearby. Everyone is friendly. Everything is close. We love our community and you will too.
This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting the New York metropolitan area or southern New England. The train station is a 7 minute walk from our home. It provides service to New York city and all the suburban stops through Westchester County. Taking the train north will get you to Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven and all the stops in between. Amtrak service is from Stamford, one stop away by Metro North. In addition everything you need for your stay can be obtained at one of the shops in our village which are 2 blocks away.
The owners are highly sensitive to the smell of smoke therefore we regret that we cannot offer our home to smokers. We do not allow pets. Please do not ask.
There is an abundance of tables in our home, please do not eat on upholstered furniture or on the bed.
Guests should recognize they are staying in a family home.
Christine & Jim were excellent hosts. They were very welcoming upon my arrival, giving me some details about my stay. They were also easy to chat with, yet were very respectful of privacy. I chose their place as I made a move to the area, and when I was able to get into my place before the end of my reservation, Christine was excellent about the change. Highly recommended hosts!
Thank you, Christine and Jim, for yet another very comfortable stay! The peaceful and woodsy neighborhood, with manicured landscaping and flower gardens, looks even more amazing in the spring! An easy walk to the train station and a home-like environment, makes Christine's place the perfect place to stay during a business trip back east.
The house is in a great neighborhood in Old Greenwich, CT, a neighborhood which we were both familiar with, within easy walking distance to the center and the train station to NYC. Though cold, spring had sprung. We were welcomed nicely. The house was wired for WiFi and was clean and comfortably furnished and decorated. Our bathroom was clean; our room was adequate but did not look like the room to the left--and was clearly The Boys' room. Breakfast was not included.
I'm pleased you found the property convenient and clean. The room is exactly as pictured with the addition of a reading lamp on the table by the bed. We urge guests to read the property description so as to understand in advance what is included with the stay. In our home, breakfast is not included though coffee/tea/hot chocolate are available in a sitting area for the exclusive use of guests also pictured in the listing.
Christine responded promptly to my inquiry, with very clear and helpful instructions. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my travel plans the day before I was due to arrive, but Christine was very understanding. I hope to stay with her in the future!
Another very comfortable stay! Jim and Christine are great hosts, always on top of everything and always doing a great job making me feel at home. Being a 5-min walk to the train station (without being able to hear it or see it) makes it easy to commute to Greenwich, Manhattan or Stamford. They also let me use their nice kitchen to prepare my dinners and their spacious living room if there's a show I want to watch.
It was very lovely to stay at Christine, she was very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here and I hope I will be able to come to see her again and stay in here wonderful house.

About the Host, Christine
I am a writer, blogger and a published author of aviation-related books, a married woman in her mid fifties. I have four grown children. I live in Connecticut and travel about 6 months out of the year for work, usually on my own.
My first time using airbandb was in Abu Dhabi in 2011. It was a great experience. Since then I've used airbnb about 40 times as a guest all over the world. I enjoyed it so much that in 2012 I became an airbnb host at my home in a New York city suburb and also at 2 Berkshire Mountain vacation properties in Litchfield County, Connecticut.
When people "get it" that this is a home stay, not a hotel, the experience can be fantastic.
I have met some amazing people and stayed in some amazing homes. I am airbnb's biggest fan.
