The Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake has been in my family 1926. A great work & play space. A Sleep Number Bed or an incline bed &/a great lake view. Therapeutic saltwater hot tub, OPEN 24/7/365. Create a meal for 2 or BBQ with friends. Explore the lakes in kayaks, pedal boat or paddle board. We're 5 miles from Pine Knob Music & Ski - Great Lakes Crossing, Clarkston. Close by are Somerset Mall, M1 Concourse, Pontiac, Rochester & Chrysler TC & Tier-1 suppliers. DETROIT is a 55min drive.

The space
l've "lived" the people business all my life, I knew exactly what the Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake must provide. First it had to be clean. Like really clean. 2nd, there would be options. Because it doesn't matter how good a cup of tea is if you don't drink tea. 3rd. It had to be as nice as home. Quality sheets and lots of towels & a kitchen that's really stocked. 4th. It had to offer and be easy to find all those "things" you forget or suddenly must have. And last but not at all least, it must be inspiring. The view of the lake, will generate a desire to go exploring, Kayaks or pedal boat. There's 3.5 lakes and 3 channels. The sound of the turning water from the high power jets in the Therapeutic, Saltwater HOT TUB calls for a refreshing soak. The incline beds are sure to be the coziest, fall asleep while being mesmerized by the water, spot ever!
Welcome to the Guesthouse On Schoolhouse Lake. My family's 1920 "little house" redesigned using reclaimed and upcycled materials to enhance, in every way, with only your comfort in mind.
Enjoy, relax, be inspired.

Leave the dishes, laundry and bed making, 'cause at the Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake, HOUSEKEEPING is ON THE HOUSE!!

The GSL sleeps 5, the pricing is for 2 guests. 21.00 is applied for each guest thereafter 2.

Other things to note
At this time the calendar appears full because it is reserved 1st for BII patients of Dr Kahn's. Connect with me to learn the actual dates that are available.
One day pricing is calculated for 1-2 people. Any additional overnight guests will cost $21.00 for each additional guest for the night/s they sleep over. If you want to invite guests over, for a spell, to enjoy the boats, therapeutic, saltwater hot tub, etc. you may absolutely do so. I do require you to ask first and let me know of your plans. The person who made the reservation is completely responsible for all guests during their stay.

No smoking includes, all types of tobacco and vaping. OUTSIDE is acceptable. If I can ask, use an ashtray/can and there are 2 fleece blankets that are great to wrap up in but don't use them when you go out to have a smoke. The fleece likes to burn little holes from the hot ashes that sometime falls. Bummer.

When it's time for you to leave the Guesthouse, remember that housekeeping is included and cleaning isn't necessary nor expected. Although the house is equipped with everything you might need to clean, please leave the bedding, towels, dishes, and games to housekeeping. It is nice if you remove food from the plates and place them on the counter and not in the "here, let me break that for you", porcelain sink. The GSL wants you to enjoy every minute of your stay. There is no such thing as not doing the right amount, when checking out.

The Guesthouse is a one level home yet there are at least two steps to enter and there are four steps inside that lead you down to the laundry area.
The house is located on a major thoroughfare with a 6 foot fence that has bushes and trees alongside it. The fence sits between the road and the house. We usually find the road noise much quieter inside the house but yes, road noise DOES exist and can be loud at times. Turning on the TV, playing music or even just talking can overcome the road noise. Once upon a time the road was dirt and much. much further away. But with the Internet came more and more roads. ¯\_༼ᴼل͜ᴼ༽_/¯

The Guesthouse On Schoolhouse Lake is a fur and feather free zone. No animals, pets or four legged children allowed.

The GSL sleeps 5, the pricing is for 2 guests. 21.00 is applied for each guest thereafter.

The spring fed lake is 3.5 feet deep at the end of the dock so NO Diving. You can walk a long way before it's over 5 feet, yet the center of the lake is 49 feet deep. There's a slim chance that your feet may find the little tiny zebra muscles, which have attached themselves to some rocks in the lake. These tiny things can possibly put a very tiny cut/s on your feet. We are seeing less and less of them every year. The lakes bottom is a natural silt. It's not muck. The silt is a fine, light mix of lake debris that floats and almost has a tickling effect. However, if you're not keen on new sensations or want to take the slight chance of stepping on a zebra muscle, water shoes are advised. And remember to bring your own proper fitting life jackets for swimming but especially boating. If you forget jackets for boating, we have a boatload.

Hi, I'm Lori Johns Boufford. My Great-grandfather brought his father-in-law's homestead log cabin(~1865) some 19 miles to this property in 1913, simply to use the log house as a fishing cabin. Six generations later, and two additional houses on site, our family still wonders at the surrounding wildlife and is taken back by the beauty of lake living. My husband Rick and our two boys, now adults have savored living on the waters edge since 1985. It's our pleasure to share this experience, even for a couple of days with the Airbnb community. We will do our absolute best to insure you leave with heartfelt memories of your visit to the Guesthouse On Schoolhouse Lake.
