Powell River is located 5 hours north of Vancouver; it is on the mainland and does require 2 ferry crossings, the first over Howe Sound and the second over Jervis Inlet as part of the highway drive.
We are located 14 km south of Powell, a 15 - 20 minute drive to town; close to three great beaches as well as hiking and biking trails, a salmon hatchery, a country market every Friday night and lots of woods too. Limited public transit available, best to have own vehicle for this location.

Interaction with Guests
As much as the guest would like, within reason. First thing in the morning and check in through their stay. We try to be sensitive to our guests need for privacy as well as social time while balancing those same needs for ourselves. Our home is non smoking and while we have a dog and cat, other pets may prove problematic. We are approachable and willing to discuss with guests who are travelling with pets.
Living in the country! Close access to beaches, woods, trails; hearing the frogs thrumping, gardening in the yard with our pets to keep us company, enjoying the mourning doves and other birds, hearing our wind chimes.
There is a transit bus with pick up close by. I would call it limited not convenient with a mornign pick up and afternoon drop off - it doesn't run in the evenings nor on Thursdays or Sundays. Advise that guests have their own transportation.
No house rules really other than no smoking or late night party goers; friendly, well mannered, interesting guests are always welcome. We remind you we have 1 cat and 1 very friendly dog so this is NOT a house for people with cat allergies. Even though our pets live outdoors mostly, they are welcome indoors too.
We are friendly & eclectic and enjoy good company, good food and great, active adventures too. Both Ray & I have travelled lots, so know what's appreciated when on the road. This area is less travelled and perfect for those who enjoy being part of the land and part of the water. There are lots of things to do OR do nothing - maybe read a book, enjoy the deck or beach, catch up on your sleep, meander through the garden and yard, wander around the area sightseeing or meditate in the shade of a tree.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
Robin is a pleasant and knowledgeable hostess who takes pride in her community and gave us lots of good information about the area. The room is as pictured and meets minimum requirements. It is located in the basement and accessed through an unattractive outdoor storage area and a dark hallway where Lucy, the charming resident mutt sleeps and eats. Her presence may contribute to the pervasive musty odour in the basement. The location is not on the shore but in a quiet residential area and shore access is readily available after a short drive. Robin told us about a lovely beach where the locals enjoy the water.

Visiting and staying at
Country Stay By the Sea - Recharge
was my first experience with Airbnb, and with B&Bs, and it was an awesome first experience!
Robin and Ray made me feel very welcome and a part of their household, their guest-room and guest-washroom is very clean and comfortable. No surprises, no problems.
Robin and Ray are very willing to share information and they helped a great deal with my inquiries and my self-tour of their absolutely wonderful and beautiful town, Powell River, and the neighbouring countryside.
I recommend their hospitality, and I would not hesitate for a moment to book with them again.
Robin and her husband are awesome hosts. Quiet neighbourhood, perfect for a few tranquile days away. The breakfast muffins were delicious. Thanks for hosting me!
We spent two nights in country stay by the beach.
The room is ok and the breakfast very good. The host were helpful in giving us information about the area.
I was disappointed that there were no kayak available at that time as it was the reason I chose that place. Also if you choose to go on a boat trip, make sure you discuss where you are going and at what price. They were a lack of communication on both parts and we ended paying for a boat trip that was of no interest to us.
About the Host, Robin
Ray & I love meeting fellow travellers. There's so much to do in our patch of paradise! Hiking, biking. kayaking, sailing, water play of all sorts. With 3 beaches nearby we are in an ideal place for some activities or down time. While living in the country, we recycle, compost, grow a garden and strive to live locally.
Robin's background is based in health & wellness and she offers massage services of relaxation, deep flow, hot stone, Raindrop and Indian Head Massage. In addition, Robin offers yoga at her studio for a class or self-practice: there's always room in the back yard or the house!
Ray is an experienced mountaineer of many years having climbed & trekked some of the big ones around the world; semi-retired, a sailor, hiker, paddler of different water craft, generally a pretty active guy.
We offer what we like to have when on the road: a comfortable and clean bed, a kitchen to cook in, wi-fi, tv, a loan library, your own bathroom - all the amenities to unpack your bags - laundry facilities to get you sorted and ready for the next leg of your trip.
We live 14 km south of town and advise you to have your own transportation. Although there is a bus and we are on its route, the service is limited. There are 2 convenience stores, one within a block walking distance and the other 3 km away. There is a great restaurant nearby as well less than 2 km away. We do have one big, friendly girl dog and one loving tomcat, so please be aware they are part of our household - in and out doors!
We've travelled using airbnb several times and have enjoyed all of our stays. Whether it's peace & privacy or making new friends, Cead Mille Failte! A Hundred Thousand Welcomes!
