On the second floor in a renovated duplex, the available guest room has a king size bed with a mini fridge in the room. The guests have a private full bath on the second floor as well as a large balcony.
This is a 3000 sq ft renovated duplex with a large lot next door. The entire home was rebuilt in 2006-07 following Katrina, and the second floor offers a spacious guest room with a king size bed and mini fridge, a large private bathroom and a large balcony. I live in the bottom portion of the home, so guests essentially have the upper duplex portion to themselves. There is one dog who occupies the lower portion. The duplex is not divided and there is no kitchen on the second floor. Guests may use the kitchen and dining room.
There is a second guest room with a single bed and trundle. This is perfect for families traveling with children. It's right across the hall from the main guest room with the bathroom in the middle. The room is a great playroom/ space for kids. Kids will also enjoy the large back and front yards with play house and giant play ground.

I'm happy to help guests explore the area; I grew up in New Orleans and love to talk about my city. I work from home, so I am home a lot. On the weekends, my three kids are here, so I have less time to spend with guests. During the week, I'm happy to cook/share meals with guests as I am available to do so.
Lakeview is a pretty quiet, crime free neighborhood. There is a bar and a coffee shop that serves food one block from the house. Mostly residential, this area is convenient because you can access the Interstate easily going east, west or downtown. There are a number of great restaurants in the area, but it is also close to Mid-City, which also offers many restaurants and bars.
The house is within a fifteen minute walk from the RTA bus line and the street car line, which takes you downtown to the French Quarter via Canal St. It's also very close (10-15 minute walk) to City Park, which offers Putt-Putt, Carousel Amusement Park, Story Land, Morning Call beignets, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Sculpture Garden. It is very safe to walk or bike in this neighborhood day or night.
There is no smoking in the house, but guests can smoke on the second floor balcony. There is one dog, a cocker spaniel, but she stays downstairs.

Megan's apartment was very spacious, clean and family friendly. We really appreciated the comfortable king size bed and large, nicely updated bathroom. It was great to be in a quiet, safe neighborhood that was also an easy walk to the Canal St. streetcar line. We would recommend this property to anyone!

Megan was a great hostess, very friendly and helpful but not nosy. The king bed was super comfy and the shower was fantastic. Room was clean and the house was quiet.Great location within walking distance of the Canal Street rail car which takes you straight to the French Quarter. Highly recommended!
Megan was very gracious. House was clean and a close drive to the downtown area (10 mins). The bed was very comfortable. It's great for a family as there's a playground and spare kids room. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling.
