The listing description is "Spot-On", what you see in the photos is what Casa de Paz is, maybe not as shiny new as the photo's but clean & comfy. Prior to arrival, the buildings "Charming" & very personable, manager/Concierge, Bert, emailed me to know when he should expect our arrival. Bert was standing in front when our taxi pulled up! Thru our 3 day stay Bert helped us find & reserve restaurants, called us taxi's, his attention made our stay so easy & fun. Casa de Paz was the idea location for us, we wanted the immersion into Puerto Vallarta not an impersonal hotel yet we wanted to have access to the beach (which was just 15 minute scenic walk away). Yes nestled at the top of a steep hill in Zona Romantica (the old original section of Puerto Vallarta) a charming SAFE, Mexican neighborhood with roosters crowing, delightful Taco vendor & store downstairs and spectacular view of the Pacific from the terrace. If you are lucky while enjoying the terrace pool, you make have a visit from "Señor Iguana", BTW, he is very appreciative of a slice of fruit! Casa de Paz offered the basic comforts of all that we needed, comfy beds, A/C in the master bedroom (which we only needed at night), well appointed kitchen with everything one needs if they wish to cook in, the "Rain" shower of the master bedroom is super to have at the end of long warm day of exploring PV. . We will definitely return!
Everything I ever wanted. The little pool was so refreshing on those hot and humid days. Especially in the evenings. I walked down to the beach every day, and loved it. The climb up is a bit of a workout, I did it 20-30 times but towards the end, I took a taxi. I got lazy. It's easy to do in a beautiful place like PV with cheap taxis all around you. There are two small little stores on the way up the hill perfect to buy some beer or snacks. And on the way back from the beach I would always stop at the taco stands. Delicious!! I would definitely stay here again! I'm counting down the days until can go back.
Michel's place was absolutely stunning and had everything we could need. The pool on the deck was very private and we even got a glimpse of the iguana that lives in the tree close by. Be warned, the hill up to the place is fairly steep, but that only makes the pool that much more satisfying.
Bert was our main point of contact and was very accommodating. He met us as we arrived, called a cab when we left, and was happy to answer any questions we had and show us around.
Would definitely stay again!
Our stay here was fantastic. The condo is clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is definitely residential, but only a short walk to the beach. Walking back up the last block of that hill can be a killer, though!
The owner of the condo, Michel, and our on-site host, Bert, were both wonderful! We were greeted at the door by Bert with keys and a smile. He was readily available in person and by phone to ask questions of and offer recommendations (which we used all of!) throughout the entire trip. Before the trip, Michel quickly answered questions and offered suggestions on everything.
The condo was well supplied with everything we needed and the pictures matched exactly what we expected. We easily could have cooked every meal "at home" and the view was wonderful.
Yes, this place sits on a bit of a hill, but we appreciated the exercise after consuming plenty of margaritas and food during the day. The walk to the beach was so easy and it was wonderful being so close to restaurants and pharmacias.
This was the ideal place to say on our honeymoon as we could hang out in the condo and relax, or come to and fro throughout the day.
If we come to Puerto Vallarta again, we will most certainly try to stay here again!
Dealing with Michel and property manager Bert were easy from start to finish. Very flexible with our ever changing plans and easy to communicate with. The condo is a perfect place for a great escape, full amenities including stocked kitchen, dipping pool with ocean views and wifi.
The neighborhood is perfectly located out of the heart of the hustle and bustle and tucked away a few blocks off a main road. The neighborhood holds many families and is completely safe and walkable at all hours of the night from la playa or bars although a taxi from basically anywhere is 50 pesos.
Be sure to grab tamales from the truck driving around the neighborhood and stock the fridge with beers.
Thank you for an amazing time in puerto vallarta, we can't wait for the next.
We spend a wonderful week at the Casa de Paz. Michel was incredibly helpful before we arrived and gave us directions and taxi information. His neighbor Bert checked us in, gave us restaurant recommendations, and helped us get a cab to the airport. The condo was beautiful, we kept all the windows and doors open while we were home and made use of the pool. As it's not heated it's a little cold, but it feels amazing after a day at the beach and a walk up the hill (which is an incline, but also necessary after all the tacos and cervezas we had! We didn't take a cab once, except to and from the airport). The neighborhood is lively and has a local feel to it, and the condo is very quiet at night - we slept wonderfully. It's the perfect place to stay if you're looking to be close to everything, but not feel like you're stuck in the tourist areas - I couldn't recommend it more.
About the Host, Michel
I love Mexico , and travel extensively throughout the country , but Puerto Vallarta offers the best in weather , beach and world class food and services , but in the classic Mexican traditions !
