Comfortably furnished, (double bed & down comforter, easy chairs, walk-in closet, desk) in beautiful Capitol Hill. Downtown Denver: 15 blocks; 1 block from 2 bus routes, close to parks, restaurants, pubs, music venues, shopping. Please visit my other listings: "Private Suite of Rooms" and "Sweet and Sunny in Capitol Hill".
This is a sweet little room, (medium-sized room really at 15.5' x 10.5'), with an adjoining area that serves as a home office and is furnished with a desk, lamp and office chair. This adjoining area measures 10' x 4', not including lighted walk-in closet.
The house itself is a charming Victorian with a sunny southern exposure and hardwood floors throughout. The house is located one block from Cheesman Park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Guests are free to use the common areas of the house, kitchen, dining room, living room. Bedrooms are considered private and off-limits. The other area of the house that is private and off-limits is my art studio in the back of the house. It is frequently very messy, as this is the nature of art-making.
I tend to adapt myself to the needs of my guests. If someone has their own agenda or just wants to be left alone, I respect that. Otherwise, I love sharing my wonderful city, and so am always available for information about what to do in Denver, where to go for great food - so many places - or how to get around the city.
The house is located in the heart of Capitol Hill. The neighborhood was developed during the Victoria Era, so the properties here are beautiful. I especially love the old-growth trees and the lovingly tended gardens all throughout the neighborhood. Most importantly, just about everything of interest in Denver is only minutes away: downtown Denver and the Convention Center, great restaurants and pubs, music venues, parks, libraries, museums, it's all close by.
Getting around Denver from here is really easy. There are 2 major bus routes one block from my front door, the 15 on Colfax and the 10 which stops in Cheesman Park. It is a 10 minute car ride to both major highways, I-70 and I-25. Via 6th Avenue, you can be in the foothills of the Rockies within 15 - 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Walking distance to downtown Denver is about 15 minutes, exactly 15 blocks in fact.

Quaint 100-year-old house in EXCELLENT location. Full of antiques and original artwork. Hostess very interesting, intelligent, helpful with tips on getting around Denver, and accomodating on use of common rooms, playing music, etc. I felt very much at home, and happily spent most mornings in the house. A welcome change from anonymous, sterile motels. A real find for artists and booklovers.
Cynthia is a great host and loves finding ways to build community among her guests. The dinner conversations have been particularly enjoyable and engaging. In terms of the accommodations, they're "spot on" with what I was looking for in terms of accessibility to downtown. Her rooms are comfy, clean and simple. I endorse her venue with the highest of recommendations.
Cynthia is a great host, very welcoming, hospitable and caring. The house is old and charming, with a lot of classic mid-century furniture, and because Cynthia is an artist, there are plenty of great art books all around. Kitchen, living room and dining room are on the ground floor, Cynthia is living in the basement, and there are three rooms on the first floor with common toilet and shower. My room was spacious including a queen-size bed and two comfortable sofa-style chairs, with a small extra cabinet for clothes and a table for work. The house also has a small and very nice backyard.
The neighborhood is green and quiet, and the main street Colfax with pubs and restaurants and with buses running to downtown regularly, is just one an half blocks away. If you are staying without a car and don't like to take the bus, downtown is about 20 min walk, and there is a grocery store in walking distance (10min).
