Interaction with Guests
My house has three private rooms available, where guests and myself share the two bathrooms and the kitchen. I travel and work at my studio often, so sometimes you may not see me around, sometimes when I am out of town or on a project I also have my bedroom available for BnBers. However I am always a phone call or message away with any question you may have, and my friend Isabel who helps me clean can assist when I'm out of town with any issues at my home.
I Live in the Historic "Bywater Neighborhood" Close to the "French Quarter/Bourbon St." Downtown and the Historic Marigny Neighborhood/Frenchman Street
A safe area where everyone looks out for one another, with families and young entrepreneurs dotting the area with eclectic bars, eateries and shops.
There are several good restaurants, the "St. Claude Art Galleries", and the Mississippi River. A couple more blocks and you're at Two of the most popular coffee shops in town, Even more amazing restaurants, vintage shops, 24hr health food grocery, and many local destinations! Our house is a calm and beautiful ride along the Mississippi 1.5 miles to the French Quarter down beautiful South Peters Ave.
Commonly sought after attractions within 1.5 miles of our house are: Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park, French Market, Spotted Cat, Cafe Negril, Blue Nile, The Maison, Apple Barrel, Coop's Place, Mardi Gras Zone, Mimi's in the Marigny, All Ways Lounge, and the Bywater, Marigny, 7th Ward, and Treme neighborhoods.
I recommend using the Free bikes to get around the area, New orleans is a small enough city geographically you can get virtually anywhere by a short bike ride!
*a note on the bikes:
The bikes are FREE so they are not the fanciest of rides. Mainly geared toward the travelers who are down for an adventure, and aren't expecting a Lexus, they're more like an old Toyota (strong guts, but moody) But we love them, they have their quirks, and they get a lot of use. Please, if you are not used to working with a used "get around town bike" than consider renting a bike from one of the many lovely rentals around town. (Gerkins, Bicycle Michaels, or Crescent City Bike Tours)
Other Things to Note
No pets please due to allergy concerns, thanks!

NOLA was amazing! Andrew was very prompt to answer all my questions and concerns. The house was very originally decorated. We ended up taking taxis every day to and from french quaters which was approx $10 with tip included each way. We decided not to use the bikes because the safety of the neighborhood was questionable at night. During the day we felt pretty safe. Definitely go to The Joint restaurant! Within walking distance of the house. Overall we had a pretty good experience.
Andrew was responsive to my messages and the check in was very easy, especially for us arriving around 2am from a night out. The room is beautifully decorated/furnished. Plenty of parking in the neighborhood. I LOVED the little booklet Andrew left for guests on places to eat, sightsee, etc. It was so informative and well-written. I wish that we had checked in first and read the suggestions before going to dinner that night.
The room was a little worn though and the blanket felt like it could use a washing (sheets were fine). The place is charming but a little aged so all the doors don't quite shut right and will creak in protest each time you moved them. The place had two full bathrooms for sharing between three rooms and an open laundry area. I never had any problems with the bathroom being used by others when I needed it. However, the main bathroom's sink and shower drains were badly clogged. This caused the tub to be grimy with dirt and soap scum and within 2-3 minutes of showering, the water had risen to my ankles. After a very quick shower, I messaged Andrew regarding the clogged drains and he said he'll get them fixed.
Great experience! I didn't see too much of Andrew but the room was nice and the house was well-located to everything we wanted to see. Andrew's guide-zine was helpful and had good recommendations.
The bikes were incredibly useful for getting around, couldn't have had such a good trip without them. They aren't top of the line but they will get you from the Bywater to Uptown.
Overall a great experience!
Nice place. Clean, tidy and thrift store chic. Andrew was very quick to respond to correspondence and polite. Bikes were a nice bonus, though a bit rustic. Needs a bit of a spring deep cleaning; maybe a new shower curtain and an occasion drain snaking. I would stay here again for sure. The booklet was super cool and showed us Bywater locales that were quite charming. Fun!
Very cool pad in the Bywater area. Very clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend!
Unexpectedly funky spot in an up and coming neighborhood that I just adored! It was great to have access to a kitchen as well, especially after being on the road for a long time. Andrew was super helpful with getting situated even though he was out of town while I was there.
The room was a little tiny but very nice and clean. The house is very clairaudient and we were not so lucky with the other guests - so at night it was quite loud as other guests used the dryer over night or were not very considerate when coming home or using the bathroom. The bathroom was clean but could do some renovations. We felt safe to walk around (to the french quarter) during day but at night always used a cab. We did not meet Andrew but he was easy to contact via Airbnb and always helpful.
