About this listing
The classy guest room features a private, modern high-end bathroom. You will be in the middle of the city, and yet it is very quiet at night.
If you still have questions, please write me a message before you book.
The apartment is clean, classy, and modern with impeccable details.
The window in your room has a nice view overlooking trees, and a spacious, quiet, urban backyard. It is equipped with a new latex mattress (140cm / 55,12inch), a small desk with a chair, a large wardrobe with a built-in mirror, free WiFi internet, cable TV, amazing fabric wallpaper, and of course fresh white bedclothes, and fresh towels. It has a high-quality hardwood floor, underfloor heating, and electric external blinds.
Your bathroom, also with underfloor heating, is for your exclusive use only.
The house was completed in 2006, and offers premium comfort. The apartment is on the third floor, with an elevator.
Please note that higher prices may occur during high season ("Karneval", gamescom, CSD, Art Cologne etc.).
You will feel like in a design hotel.
Your room, and bathroom are separated by the entrance hall, and a glass door from the remaining apartment (where I live). No kitchen.
Your room is part of a downtown apartment right in Cologne’s lively city center in the midst of high fashion, and designer shops, galleries, markets with fresh, organic products plus the best restaurants, cafes, and bars in the city.
The fabulous "Belgische Viertel" [Belgium quarter] is also only two blocks away.
Right next door you will find exquisite cupcakes, French tartes, great coffee, a "FitnessFirst for Ladies“-gym, and one of the good old corner shops, which we call "Büdchen" where you can buy drinks, sweets, newspapers, cigarettes, etc. until late at night.
Everything you need is literally "around the corner".
Although the apartment is really in the middle of everything it is very quiet, and you won't hear the city life until you enter the street.
If you arrive by plane you can either take a cab (approx. 35,- Euros) or get on the S-Bahn "S13" to Cologne's main station [Hauptbahnhof / HBF] for only 2,70 Euros. The train takes about 15 minutes.
From the main station to the apartment you could either take a cab (max. 8,- Euros incl. tip) or the subway line 5 (2,70 Euros per ticket), and get off at "Friesenplatz" – from there it is only three blocks to my apartment.
Cologne is bike-friendly, and sometimes it can be difficult to find parking in my neighborhood. If you arrive by car there is a safe, commercial parking garage one block away from the apartment. Here you'd pay 2,- Euros per hour, and 12,- Euros per day.
The apartment is in a new, and luxurious building, and most furniture are collector's items. I want you to feel home though, and not like in a museum. However I ask you to treat my apartment as if it was your own. Please understand that there are things to keep in mind when using my furniture, and don't feel patronized when I leave a welcome note that says how to take good care of my home.

The room comes with private bathroom with shower, both sleeping room and bathroom are simply perfect. Heike has been very gentle and friendly, a perfect host.
The place is less than 20 minutes walking distance from the cathedral and in an area full of recreative venues and lunch. I am very satisfied with that.
Prof. Dr. Heike is friendly and helpful. Everything was great and I absolutely recommend this place.
Heike is welcoming and friendly! She has a comprehensive list of tips on food and drinks and places to go in the city. The room and the bathroom are beautiful and comfy. Her apartment is right at the edge of the Belgium quarter where all the great food and drinks are - where the city comes alive at night! It was a lovely stay at Heike's place.
The room and bathroom are in great condition and spotless. The apartment is a nice area full of shops and restaurants.
Lots of storage room. Tea and a kettle are there as well.
There are also books on Cologne.
I could bike to the station and my work under 10 minutes easy. Had a great dining, reading experience in Ego wine bar just across 2 streets. Totally relaxed atmosphere with high quality food run by its young Italian owner.
Heike is a nice person and knows a lot about Cologne, it's areas, the shops and the restaurants.
Had a great stay there and definitely will come back.
We really enjoyed our stay with Dr. Heike. She made us feel very welcome, and pointed out great places to eat. The accommodations were just like in the profile, so it couldn't have been any better. The neighborhood was amazing as well, we even had a festivals close by (and still we could sleep nicely later on).
Nachdem ich nun einige Stationen bei Heike eingelegt habe, kann ich nur sagen das AirBNB nicht besser sein kann. Ideale Unterkunft....
About the Host, Prof. Dr. Heike
As a traveler myself I am always trying to get a local experience, and not end up in all the tourist places. My background is in motion graphics, and design in general. Today I work as a tenured professor.
I read a lot, and practice yoga several times a week, and I have great interest in the arts, music, design, and film. Plus, I am a native "Cologner", and a real foodie, thus you can expect awesome recommendations for breakfast, lunch, dinner – and beyond!
