Cocoplum is the downstairs apartment, it is spacious, close to restaurants & groceries, and is an ideal base for tours around the area.
It is located on a lovely beach with shady palms - in a Garifuna fishing village.
Hopkins is a beach village that gives you access to kayaking, snorkeling, diving the barrier reef, jungle treks, and Mayan ruins.
*9% Belize Gov tax is collected upon check-in.

The space
One bedroom and bathroom to use for two persons (the other bedroom and bathroom will be closed/locked off, and will not be rented out).

Cocoplum is the lower beach front apartment at AJ Palms. It has a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The bedroom has ceiling fans and A/C. The room rate includes A/C in the bedroom, and only for night hours.

Cocoplum has an open concept kitchen/living area.
The kitchen has all the basic cooking equipment needed to prepare your own meals. Pots, pans, stove/cooker, fridge/freezer etc.
The living room has a couch and 2 easy chairs, coffee table, a flat screen TV with cable tv, ceiling fans and a floor fan.
Our couches are not beds, please don't sleep on them.

Your private veranda faces the Caribbean Sea.

Cocoplum is ideal for one couple or for two friends travelling together. If you would like two beds in a bedroom the locked off bedroom comes with two beds, and that can be the bedroom you rent if you prefer, instead of the en-suite. Just let us know. We then unlock the bathroom across the hall for your use.

This rental normally rents in another listing with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, for 4 persons, this is a special discount offer to use just one bedroom and one bathroom.

Guest access
You will have private access to the one bedroom, one bathroom, living room, dining space, and kitchen.
There will be one other bedroom and bathroom locked, and not for your access.
The beach chairs are shared with other apartment guests from upstairs.
All beaches in Belize have public access.

This apartment is a large two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. This listing is for the use of just one bedroom and one bathroom within the apartment. It is still a private unit, with separate entrance, and perfect for two people.

A/C is during night hours only, and confined to the bedrooms.
Daytime a/c can be purchased for $10US a day per bedroom.

For the majority of my guests we are an international destination. Because of the advanced planning, and the cost, you might want to consider travel insurance that can cover you for a wide range of situations.

I am happy to have guests stay over Christmas, but please no check-ins or check-outs on Christmas Day Dec 25th or Dec 26th.

Where you’ll be

Hopkins, Stann Creek District, Belize

AJ Palms is in the village of Hopkins, which is part of the charm I think, but I also know that it is not what everybody is looking for.

Hopkins is still very much a village community in a developing country, we are a village, not a resort tourist destination. Hopkins is a wonderful community with a unique Garifuna culture, come to Hopkins with that in mind, embrace a different land and culture, and you will love it.

If you are looking for an isolated, or resort experience, for your vacation, then we may not be the right place for you.
Being in the village can sometimes mean you will hear children, dogs, music, chicken and roosters, and we do have a restaurant that has opened up next door that sometimes plays loud music, but mostly you will hear the breeze through the palm trees and the sound of the waves.

I am the owner and manager of a guesthouse in Hopkins since 1998 and I've managed AJ Palms Apartments since 2014. I'm British by birth, and naturalized Belizean by choice. I lived in Germany, off and on, for 10 years before moving to Belize. I am fairly good at speaking German, not all that great at writing it - but I am willing to try. I've always felt renting out my rooms and apartments is like renting out a part of my home, hopefully my guests get to feel the same way when they I host them. I'm enjoying my life on the beach.
