Unpack and stay awhile at The Retreat, a one-bedroom apartment in a 1915 downtown McCormick building. Make dinner in the full kitchen, curl up with a book in the flex space, or wander to nearby shops and places to eat. With Wi-Fi, a queen bedroom, and a single daybed, it’s easy to feel at home for a few nights or a longer stay.

You’ll climb about 20 stairs to this second-floor apartment; there’s no elevator. Parking is free on the street only, with shared coin-operated laundry in the building.

The space
The Retreat is a private, approximately 500-square-foot apartment on the second floor of a historic downtown building. It has one bedroom, a separate flex space, a living area, a full kitchen, and one bathroom.

The bedroom has a queen bed and space to unpack. The flex space has a single daybed that works for reading or sleeping. The living area includes a sofa, a Roku TV, and a dining table with seating for two. A convertible chair can accommodate a fourth guest, though the apartment sleeps three most comfortably.

The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, apartment size stove, dishwasher, microwave, convection oven, air fryer, and Keurig Duo coffee maker. The bathroom has a tub and shower.

The apartment itself is private. The upstairs hallway and coin-operated laundry are shared with others in the building. Reaching the apartment requires about 20 stairs; there is no elevator. Parking is on the street, with no assigned space.

Guest access
You’ll have private access to the entire apartment: the bedroom, flex space, living area, kitchen, and bathroom.

The upstairs hallway, book shelf, and coin-operated laundry are shared with others in the building. You may use the rear stairs to reach the trash dumpster or exit the building. The neighboring apartment, commercial spaces, and marked service areas are not part of your stay.

There is no private outdoor space or on-site parking. Free public street parking is available nearby.

Other things to note
We provide a starter supply of toiletries, paper goods, and cleaning basics. Guests replenish these during their stay.

Regular USPS mail is not delivered to the building. Guests who need mail can arrange a local post office box.
