Had a great experience staying at Ellen's home! She is very welcoming and by the end of the trip she was part of the family. Wonderful backyard with plenty of space for the kids to play and explore. Highly recommend staying with Ellen.
Ellen's place is absolutely gorgeous. And the location is fantastic, tucked away from the busy city and yet a stone's throw to San Francisco, Berkeley, and wine country. I stayed for 4 nights during a business trip, and my favorite part was coming home to Henri the chocolate lab. He is so sweet natured! And as you know, dogs take after their owners! Ellen is the ideal hostess. Calm, caring, and welcoming. I felt right at home, if not better, as all the appliances, bedding, furniture, etc. we're nothing but the finest quality. This is a 5-star AirBnB experience!
This was my first Airbnb experience and I am so glad that it was with Ellen. We reached at the most odd time possible and probably kept her awake through most of our trip but nevertheless she continued to be the most warm and gracious host possible. She has a very beautiful house, which feels cozy, peaceful and provides the apt vacation feel we all were looking for. A hiking spot nearby automatically explains how stunning would the location of the house be. For dog lovers, there is a very sweet and mannered dog, Henry. For others who are not much into dogs, henry might change your mind. I totally would stay back here when i visit SF again and i surely would recommend the same.
Ellen is a very warm and gracious host. She made my daughter and I feel welcome in her home with food, conversation and friends. We loved getting to know her and her Chocolate Lab, Henry. She is a seasoned Airbnb host!
This is our second time staying with Ellen and it was excellent like the first time. Her house is comfortable and pleasant. The bed is really comfortable. Ellen and her dog Henry are wonderful hosts.
Together with my wife and our 10 month old son, I recently stayed at Ellen's wonderful home for a few days while relocating to the bay area. The house is located in scenic wildcat canyon in a lush garden and the perfect place to relax after a busy day in the vibrant east bay area. I can not exaggerate how welcome we felt. Henry (Ellen's dog) is the definition of good natured and became instant best friends with our son. Ellen herself was so much more than just a good host and helped in every possible way to make our transition to California as smooth as possible. At the same time, she made sure that we got all the privacy that we needed. If I would have to describe it in one sentence: It felt like staying with an old friend. I sure have the feeling we made a new one!
What an amazing home and Ellen was such a gracious host! We had a wonderful time chatting with her throughout our stay.

I am the very proud host of Ellen's GuestHouse, Richmond, CA as you can see on FB: (website hidden)
Originally from the Chicago area, I transplanted to the Bay Area over 30 years ago and learned my way around as a visitor.
As an avid traveler, I love staying where I get a sense of local flavor. At the end of a day of touring, the place I come back to needs to feel like, "Ah, things are calm and restful here. I can rest up here for another day out and about tomorrow." My home offers this respite. I love providing an aesthetically pleasing environment, that offers friendliness and calm.
I have had very satisfied guests from all over the world, Belgium, Washington DC, Wisconsin, Beijing, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Spain, Denmark, France, Russia, Australia, Germany, Cape Cod, Maryland, California, etc., and my place has been used for several photo shoots for books and online boutiques.
I speak some Spanish and get really clever using the computer to understand other languages.
I am happy to be helpful.
Some of my favorite visits have been to Calistoga in CA, Kauai, Galicia Spain, Soan River in France, Denmark, Paris, London, a small restaurant right here in San Fran on Claude and another in Port Costa, The Bull Valley Roadhouse. What makes these great visits are the people I find there, the atmosphere and the food. I stay in Airbnbs, hostels, upscale hotels, spas, friends homes, canal boats. I do what I need to get the best flavor of the culture I am living in. This is my reason for travel, to live in other peoples' shoes. It is also my reason for hosting, I get to know people from a different perspective.
I have a favorite quote: "What else is life for than to make other peoples' lives a bit easier." This is what I use as my compass for living.
