Gorgeous little house that has some flexibility of sleeping accommodation. There is a full queen size bed in the bedroom and a full size queen size sofa bed in the lounge room. It has a complete kitchen and bathroom. It has it's own entrance and driveway separate from main house in a beautiful garden setting with views across the valley. Wake up to the sound of magpies and kookaburras. With any luck you may have a visiting koala, echidna and kangaroo in the garden.
Access to swimming pool, spa and gymnasium in the main part of the garden. There is a barbeque and alfresco dining available.
Excellent cycling in the Adelaide Hills as it is part of the Tour downunder circuit. 10 minute walk to the township of Stirling and a quick car trip to the historic town of Hahndorf. Situated next to Mount Lofty Botanic Garden and surrounded by Adelaide HiIl's wineries and restaurants including Locavore and The Organic Market and Cafe. Bus stop right outside for quick 15 min trip to Adelaide CBD where you can attend all the international festivals like WOMAD, Festival of Arts, Fringe Festival and Clipsal 500. Cable TV, internet and laundrey available.

Great spot up in the hills and close to the lovely village of Stirling. The hosts were very welcoming even readying the swimming pool for us for a cooling dip after an action packed
day. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a more rural and different take on the city break.
Beautiful "granny annexe" next door to Penny & Simon's house, but with separate driveway and outdoor eating area with gorgeous views across the Adelaide Hills. Overlooking their lovely terraced garden with heated swimming pool at the bottom (big enough to do some lap swimming) and an outdoor spa pool. Penny & Simon were friendly and helpful hosts without being intrusive and provided some basic provisions (including homemade apricot jam!) which is useful if you don't want to head to the shops immediately. We both had the best nights sleep we've had in a long time... mine was on the exceptionally comfortable sofa bed!
On the side of Mount Lofty, wIthin walking distance of the lovely village of Sterling and only a short drive from Hahndorf, this is a beautiful location especially in hot weather where you'll benefit from the temperatures being around 5 degrees cooler than in the city.
I shall certainly be back... hopefully for a longer stay next time!
We had a great time while we were there, awesome area, great hosts. Likely stay again!
A beautiful apartment in a beautiful place, highly recommend, a space I'd happily return to. Our only regret was not spending more time with Penny & Simon.
Immaculate self contained apartment! Very quiet and private, though there are excellent outdoor facilities (BBQ, outdoor settings, chiminea etc) that can be utilized that would make it a very social place to be! I used my time there as a retreat to study...and watch foxtel! (Don't tell my lecturers!) Beautiful setting with lots of excellent walking trails that are easily accessible. Thanks Penny!
This apartment is set in a truly beautiful area of Adelaide with the city being only 10 minutes away. The apartment was exceptionally appointed for all needs. Our hosts, Penny and Stuart welcomed us with open arms and were more than helpful with any information we required. We felt as if we had a home away from home and would be more than happy to return and further explore the Adelaide hills and surrounds. Thank you Penny and Stuart
What a great place! Our stay in Penny and Simon's granny flat was really nice - such a friendly and helpful couple and they have a stunning property. Everything is completely self-contained with a separate entrance, and the granny flat is very clean and comfortable, just how it looks in the pictures. Would have loved to stay longer!
It was our first time to Adelaide, and we were very glad we stayed in the Adelaide Hills as it's so picturesque and not too far from the city. The accommodation is also conveniently located near the botanic gardens and the pretty local village of Stirling, which has great cafes and shops.
It was also our first experience with airbnb, and Penny was very helpful in explaining how things worked and making sure we had the information we needed to find the property.
Our thanks to Penny and Simon - we'll definitely be recommending you to our friends/family who are traveling to Adelaide and we hope we get the opportunity to stay with you again too!
We found this place to be a nice change from staying in the cities as we did through most of our trip across Australia. This accommodation is a freestanding mother-in-law unit adjacent to the hosts home. The setting and view are quite nice. Overall, it was satisfactory to our needs and we can recommend it. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen facilities quite useable. Wifi was weak, but the internet adequate. Laundry facilities are available at no additional cost. Domestic water is provided from a cistern, as is common in these parts, but the hosts thoughtfully provide bottled water for their guests to drink.
Please note that this place is located well out of the Adelaide CBD, but within a short walk of the charming little village of Stirling and we were fortunate to have been there on the date of a delightful monthly Sunday farmers market. (Be sure to confirm the directions provided by the hosts, as they were a bit confusing to us.)
At first it seems rather remote, but it really isn’t that bad to get around on the buses. Just give yourself a couple of days to figure out the transport system as it is not very intuitive and bus service is much less frequent on Sundays. You can either pay on the bus, or get a card and put money on it at one of the stores in Stirling. Once you’ve figured it out however, you’ll be able to get around quite easily. (Finally, don’t miss the very pleasant and inexpensive tram ride from downtown, out to the delightful beachside village of Glenlg with its neat little shops and restaurants.
We took a couple of great wine tours (Barossa Epicurean Tours and Chook’s Little Winery Tour of McLaren Vale) while we were there, and both of them were willing to pick us up at our accommodation, so this was no problem.
We especially appreciated Penelope taking time off work to drop us off downtown at the train station for the next leg of our journey!
Most gracious hosts. Lovely gardens. Wonderful view from patio. Very well contained cottage. Excellent location.
Was an absolutely lovely place to stay. Genuinely great people, really hospitable, friendly and interesting. Wanted to spend some quality time with my 2 daughters and don't think I could've found a more ideal property or place definitely recommend staying at Penelopes. Location was really beautiful as well, only regret is we didnt have time to stay longer or swim in the pool! Will definitely stay there again if I have the opportunity. We LOVED our time there.
