You are invited to escape the stress of your everyday life and enjoy the pure pleasure of a seaside resort without the resort prices. Spend an amazing evening or weekened aboard our 1972 30' Columbia sailing yatch appropriately named "Freedom". Freedom is located in the beautiful pituresque Ventura Harbor.
Freedom is equipped with a cozy V-berth which will comfortably sleep 1-2 persons. The 2 sofas can be converted into bunk beds if needed. Towels, blankets and pillows are available (extra laundering fee) or save your money and bring our own towels, sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. The dining area seats up to 4 (website hidden) with DVD player, stereo, microwave and refrigerator are provided for your convenience. Bathroom, shower and laundry facilities are just a few steps away in the Marina Center. Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out time is 12:00 noon. Other times can be arraigned to fit your schedule if needed.
Ventura Harbor Village is just a short walk away and offers shopping, sight seeing and dining at some of the finest restaurants in our area. Come and enjoy our local comedy club. Rent a kayak or a paddle boat and cruise the harbor. Come and enjoy the sea life that abounds in Ventura Harbor. You will experience seals, sea lions, manta rays, fish and pelicans (as natrue makes available) while you enjoy the serenity of harbor life.
A brief meeting before occupancy is required to provide keys and operational instructions. A single kayak is available for use (extra fee). Hour long harbor cruises are available on the weekends (extra fee) as time and weather permit.
Our only complaint is that we didn't stay longer! Wake up to a light sea breeze, pelicans dive bombing fish, warm sun and the occasional bark from playful sea lions. Take a walk down the harbor to grab a bite at any of the multitude of restaurants ranging from authentic Greek to beach tacos. Pete even offers a harbor cruise if you're interested. Or just relax on the deck. The perfect day or week getaway. Thanks Pete!
Pete is friendly and welcoming
Pete's boat was a nice little place to rest after a long drive from SF.
Accommodation is simple (it's a boat after all), the bunk bed can feel hard, pack the extra blankets if you get cold easily but Pete's warm welcome makes you feel at home.
Pete's a great host, he was really attentive to our needs and made sure that we knew how to make everything work on the boat, he was also very patient as we had to ask for directions a couple of times.
My partner and I came down to enjoy the Channel Islands for the weekend - and Pete's boat proved the ideal launching point. He was very responsive and helpful - both in helping of find our way exactly to the boat and with any questions that came up along the way. The boat is - as advertised. Bathrooms are up on the dock at the boathouse. We brought our own sleeping bags and pillows to save on cost. For dinner, it was an easy walk down the pier to a nice group of restaurants - and Pete has put together a nice binder with menus from the different options. It would be difficult to do much meal preparation on board. Best parts of the stay was the location and the novelty of being on a boat. Kind of like camping on water.
We had a romantic Valentines aboard the Freedom!
It was a lovely stroll down the pier for many options for dinner.
The harbor was incredibly peaceful, there was only the snorting and splashing of sea lions and the squawks of the Great Blue Herons nesting across the parking lot! Pete gave us great directions and met us to show the very nice bathroom and shower house and then thorough directions for the boat.We were glad to have our own sleeping bags because the evening was chilly. Pete has enticed us about Ventura and we look forward to going back again!
Pete was very kind man, so my son liked him very much.
If I revisit this boat house, I want to stay more days.
Boat was simple and great. If all you want is a clean, simple getaway in an old school sailboat, it's perfect. Had such a good time and Pete was more than hospitable. Will definitely come back. Who wouldn't want to fall asleep with sea lions??
Pete was a very good host! He explained me in detail everything that had to be known about the boat and told me what was nice to do around in the area. I felt really lucky to have the chance to rent his boat for the night.
Pete was a great host. He made sure we knew all of the details about the boat, and walked us through all the protocols regarding access and safety. He was the best communicator, and very patient with us when we lost our way trying to get there. The boat was very clean and spacious. Definitely would recommend this experience to anyone looking for a more adventurous option to a traditional vacation!
We really enjoyed our short stay on board Freedom. We woke up in the morning to a beautiful sunrise and an entertaining show put on by pelicans and seals right next to the sailboat. Pete was very helpful and easy to work with. We hope to return in the future for a longer stay.
