About this listing
A European owned, self catering beach house in a secluded bay just minutes from lively Mirissa offers stylish accommodation, sleeping 4 plus a child. Tastefully decorated in Sri Lankan colonial style with well equipped kitchen (and washing machine)
Cococabana is the perfect hideaway for those seeking a bit of tropical paradise. Set in a tranquil garden it is just metres from a secluded bay with hardly any tourists and yet is only 1 km from lively Mirissa with its beach bars, surfing and whale watching. It was the owners original home before building a new villa on the same plot and is more than just a holiday rental.
It is perfect for a couple or family with 2 children. However the second bedroom is downstairs reaching the first floor by an outside staircase so is not ideal for young children if they need access to their parents in the night. It has one bathroom upstairs and is therefore not ideal for 2 sets of adults.
A cot is available for a baby.
The upstairs has a wide verandah overlooking the coconut palm trees and the sea, just perfect for a morning cup of coffee or a sundowner cocktail.
The kitchen is well equipped with microwave/oven/grill, gas cooker, blender, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer and washing machine.
It is essentially self catering and a welcome pack of breakfast items is provided. Malani, the maid will clean most days and you can order her delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry for the evening or some of her other local delicacies.
Local shops selling fruit, vegetables and general items are within walking distance and there are good supermarkets in nearby Matara.
Mirissa has a wide range of beach bars and restaurants serving fantastic fish and seafood and is only 15 minutes away by foot or 5 minutes by tuk tuk.
Wifi is provided.
There is a large swimming pool for guests to enjoy, sun loungers and a yoga terrace, also perfect for watching sunset.
Interaction with Guests
A house guide is sent to all guests before they arrive. It contains lots of useful local information on what to do, where to go and how to get around. Telephone numbers are listed for local recommended drivers and tuk tuk drivers and if we are in residence we are happy to offer suggestions and help with arrangements. We know a lot of places to stay around the country at all price levels if you need some recommendations.
Parking is available but there is no driver accommodation on site. Most drivers know of places in Mirissa which are suitable.
Other Things to Note
The other residents living here are our three dogs - Rice, Sambal and Felicity who were born under the house and are the most spoilt and well looked after dogs in Sri Lanka. They are clean, friendly and fully inoculated.
