The Neighborhood

Trastevere: a residential area full of restaurants and bars, the most characteristic during the day and the most fun at night. The narrow alleys with typical "San Pietrini" floor, small squares full of windows and drying laundry, outdoor markets, centenarian shops, artisan laboratories, bars for a drink, the "hostarie" homemakers, theaters , cinemas, supermarkets, all kinds of shops, all crowded during the day by the "trasteverini" (it was once a pride claim to be) and at night the whole city that flows along streets and squares, to fill hundreds of restaurants, pubs and bars, chatting and drinking a glass under the stars.

Getting around

The location is also convenient for public transport. In fact, only 300 meters, walk down Via Luciano Manara, Via delle Fratte di Trastevere, you can take bus Tram No.8 or Line H to go to Largo di Torre Argentina, Navona, Campo de' Fiori, Pantheon, Termini Railway Station. Anyway from the apartment it is just an "affordable" walk to go to all turistic places.
If starting from the apartment, and climbing on foot to Via Garibaldi, with a scenic stroll you will reach the Gianicolo, from which to enjoy the most classic panoramic view of Rome. If you do not want to walk, you can take bus 116.
Tram 8 and Line H, in the other direction, connect with Trastevere Station.
Ostiense Station in 10 minutes.

  • Great host! Provided recommendations for food around the area and the apartment is located in the most perfect area! Very spacious, I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • We stayed at Mario's apartment for 2 nights. It was a lovely modern spacious apartment, clean and great kitchen with everything you need to prepare your own meals. The bathroom is great, the shower really nice. The wifi reliable. Mario was lovely. The location is wonderful in the heart of Trastavera with one side giving a view into Italian life, the other, the tourist view of winding cobblestone streets and outdoor cafés. Most sights 15/20 minute walk and just 5 minutes up the hill to Garibaldi's statue for wonderful views. Went up for sunrise this morning. There was also full moon. Just great!

  • A great place in a wonderful location
The place is in an amazing location - lively neighbourhood surrounded by great restaurants. This is a garden view apartment - couple of stairs bellow the ground. It has a cozy dining area with an open concept kitchen, a living area with a sofa bed and a bedroom with a very comfortable double bed. It is a very clean apartment.

The place feels a little damp but there is an air conditioning system which you can leave it on to take care of it.

Mario was very responsive to our messages. We did not have a chance to meet with him but his colleague, Andrea was there when we arrived to give us the keys - very kind and warm man.

    We had a great stay!

  • We had a wonderfull stay! A lot of space, clean, great kitchen, nice bed and bathroom. A good place to rest after a day admiring Rome.

The neighbourhood is really good, the street of the apartment is quiet, but nearby are cosy crowded street with lots of bars and restaurants.

There is a good bus and tram connaction nearby (to Termini and Piazza Venezia) but in de weekends of our stay it was a bit erratic.

  • Mario is a great host. He was very reactive answering our questions before our arrival. He is nice and flexible and gave us a lot of tips to enjoy Rome. The apartment is situated in a lovely area, full of bar and restaurants. A bit far from the closest metro station. But we were a group of young people we did it all walking and it was ok. The apartment is full equiped, clean but dark and a bit cold in winter. All in all, I would be happy to come back and definitely recommend this place.

  • This apartment was a classic Trastevere place. It was in a quiet spot in the neighborhood, just a couple of minuets from the plaza.

Most importantly, the hosts were very kind, they were at the apartment waiting when we arrived. They were courteous and made sure that we had everything we needed, and wanted to make sure we could enjoy not only the apartment, but also the neighborhood.

I would definitely recommend staying here with this host again.

  • A great home base from which to explore Rome! Location is fantastic—on a quiet street right off the buzz of Trastevere, quick walk to great cafes and restaurants and a quick tram ride/taxi to the major sights.

Apartment is just below street level—rare not to have to deal with so many stairs!—and the pictures do the place pretty good justice. We were three in the apartment and had plenty of room, though if you are planning on spending a lot of time in the apartment, perhaps a place with better natural light would be appropriate. In any case, this suited our need's perfectly!

I arrived a bit early, and as the apartment wasn't quite ready yet, Mario's business partners walked me over to a nearby cafe and we chatted briefly over coffee and pastries. Mario was extremely responsive up to and through our reservation — definitely first rate communication.

My only complain would be that the apartment was a bit musty, with a smokey smell. All in all, though, a great place!

  • We had a great stay at this apartment. The location is fantastic. Very close to the heart of Trastevere and surrounded by a wealth of greate cafes, restaurants, shops, and wonderful picturesque streets that make Rome one of the great cities. Short walk to the Vatican and to the Tiber, so Piazza Navona and other must-see spots are a close walk or cheap cab. The place was big enough for three and was in great condition. Would definitely recommend it for short or long stays.

  • Mario's apartment is in the heart of Trastevere, which meant we were close to great food, bars, and locals. This apartment was a great size for me and my husband and I could see how more people could fit in the space. It was clean and easy to navigate. Mario was very kind to meet us upon arrival and make sure our questions were answered. I wish we could have stayed longer since it was definitely a good deal and we enjoyed our time there. Thank you, Mario!

  • After our original flat in Rome cancelled on us at last minute we were worried we wouldn't be able to find one at such short notice. We are so glad that Mario's flat was available! It was our first time to Rome and the location is just perfect. Trastevere is such a vibrant, authentic neighborhood and within walking distance to most attractions (decent length walks but good to counteract all the wonderful food you'll eat). Mario was a very considerate host. There was a problem with the hot water that was fixed immediately - very fast response to any queries we had. Beautiful flat in beautiful Rome. Would stay again!
