The Space

My condo is spacious with two bathrooms and cathedral celings in the livingroom and master bedroom. A guest (s) would use the bedroom next to the master bedroom with a queen-size bed and its own private full bath, and a small deck and access to the kitchen. In addition for a single guest, there is a smaller room with a twin bed. The facilities are shared with the owner. As an upstairs unit, there are two decks that afford privacy. My unit has a single car garage and a carport that a guest can use if driving a rental car. As a coastal area, it is necessary to have a car although I am willing to provide some limited transportation and at an additional cost, sightseeing trips can be easily set up (use to those coming from another state or another country). For the first night, I can supply dinner, if needed. and a daily breakfast.

From my condo and easily within a short walk, a guest can quickly reach the coastal path which circles a large golf course.

If guests want to see the coastal areas of Northern California, Half Moon Bay is a good starting point. It is a small town with a variety of restaurants, a lovely habor, great biking paths or hiking paths with adjacent redwoods. Santa Cruz and Monterey are both easily reached by car for day trips, although the later is about a 2 hour drive south of my location. San Francisco is only about 25 minutes north, but our local rail system (Bart) can take one downtown or across the bay. Daily ferry trips (from San Francisco) can take one across the bay to visit Sausalito or Tibueron. The wine country is about 2 hours north of my area.

When requesting to be a guest, please include the following information. Also, you need to be verified prior to booking.

1) A brief desciption of yourself and your companion (if the booking is for 2).
2.) The purpose of your trip and what you might like to do while staying on the coast.
3) Any additional imformation needed to make your stay a comfortable one.

Guest Access

For access, a lock box on the outside door with a key inside and a combination for it - to make access an easy process whether we are home or not home.

Interaction with Guests

Interacting with my guests as much or as little as the time and purpose of their trip permits is a our prolicy. My boyfriend and I have traveled a great deal, so sharing different cultural views is a stimulating experience for me.

The Neighborhood

You can walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes, and the Ritz Carlton is a very short walk. It has a large, scenic golf course along the cliffs and the coastal path. Downtown historic Half Moon Bay is 2 miles.

Getting around

Being on the coast, bus transportation exists but is limited. Guests need their own car unless I have made a special arrangement with them to set up sightseeing trips (if I am available). Also, I live within a very short walk to the Ritz Carlton by the sea, so hotel pick up can be arranged with any tour company.

Other Things to Note

I do not rent to people with pets or childen under the age of 9.

  • Sandra was a wonderful host - extremely kind and flexible to our plans. Her apartment is walking distance to the beach where you can read, write and relax. She is a lot of fun to talk to, and had has great suggestions for where to dine out in Half Moon Bay.

  • We had a very good experience with our host and our air bnb. The accommodations were clean and beautifully artistic (hostess being a visual artist herself) we were treated to many of her lovely land and sea scape paintings.

  • Sandra is a friendly and warmhearted host. My wife and I are so glad we met her on our first days in the US. The room is comfortable and the beaches and trails really thrilling to explore.

  • My stay with Sandra marked my first airbnb experience and she proved to be an excellent emissary. The short: she was very friendly, accommodating, and worldly. She worked with my schedule and gave great local recommendations. I felt at home.

The less-short: I was vending a festival in HMB and had to be up early; Sandra left me hard boiled eggs, fruit, protein bars and prepped the coffee maker for my pre-dawn call times. She even stopped by my festival booth to say hello!

Her condo is minutes from historic main street and just down the street from the Ritz Carlton and it's oceanside walking paths. I got a couple coastal jogs in, starting from her condo complex.

The twin mattress in the guest bedroom was very comfortable- I slept like a baby- and the guest bathroom was well stocked and inviting. Sandra told me she plans on getting a queen bed for couples going forward.

We had a great time exchanging stories in the evening, but she was also mindful of my space and alone time. I would not hesitate to stay with Sandra the next time I'm in Half Moon Bay; my girlfriend is already on board for a weekend stay once Sandra gets the queen bed!
