Early 1800's stone farmhouse with gardens, orchards, pastures, woods, pond and barns outside, fireplaces and elegant rooms inside. The house was renovated in 1989 and a large addition was added.
The house has five bedrooms, four are available for the B&B. Three of the rooms are on the second floor - Master has its own bathroom with steeping tub and separate shower, Fireplace and Blue Room share a bathroom with shower/tub, however, if you wish to have private bath, we will try to accommodate your request. Guest Suite is very private as it is in the new addition. It has a two person jacuzzi, separate shower, palladian windows, etc. Please see separate listings for the Guest Suite, Master and Fireplace Twin Room info and to make reservations for those.
Aria is located on a hilltop ten miles North of Cooperstown and two miles from Glimmerglass Opera Festival and Otsego Lake. There are three golf courses nearby including one you can walk to next door. This is a great location from which to start a bike ride around Lake Otsego or a shorter drive down the road to Allen Lake, namesake of this road (and original owner of the house). You are welcome to walk the grounds and woods; walk down to the pond. In winter you can cross country ski right out the door.
All rooms have large windows with beautiful views, historic colors, period furniture and powerful ceiling fans.
In addition to offering great bedrooms, there is a delightful kitchen with cozy dining area and a roaring fireplace in chillier weather. The house has a comfortable living room / library and a solarium with cathedral ceiling, french doors and slate floors. This room is great for entertaining guests.
We have a piano for your use and some other instruments. We can provide you with musical entertainment for your gathering, just ask... your host is a talent agent.
In addition to serving you a delicious French-inspired farm to table breakfast, Aria also offers to prepare meals for you and your invited friends, or cocktail parties pre and post opera (by prior arrangement, of course). We use freshest ingredients possible, organic when possible, and we support our local farmers. Your veggies, herbs and apples come from our gardens and orchard while eggs, poultry and berries come from from a neighbor a mile down the road. Call to discuss our cuisine and options for your gathering. We are on (website hidden) at Aria B+B, Springfield Center, NY.
The house and business is also for sale. More details upon request.
You are most welcome here at Aria!
Wireless internet, porch with swing, Adirondack chairs, walk to the pond or through fields, one kayak available to borrow for Lake Otsego, rental place nearby.
You can swim or launch a kayak at Springfield Landing using my pass, about a 3 mile drive from Aria. You can also go to Glimmerglass State Park for hiking, swimming and to visit historic Hyde Hall. It is about 6 miles away, and has a parking charge (think it is $6.)
Interaction with Guests
I can keep to myself, but am always happy to engage in conversation, and offer suggestions on what to do in the area and make reservations at restaurants for you. I love to entertain guests and making a full and delicious home-baked breakfast for you!
We're on a hilltop and our neighbors include farmers, medical professionals, and creative people. Prevailing breeze, open sky, fields, pond, and three lakes from two to four miles away.
You would fly into either Albany or Syracuse. The Megabus and Amtrak both go to Albany from NYC. You'll need to have a car to get around.
Other Things to Note
We'll try everything in our power to make your stay enjoyable. Let us know how!
No smoking, and please respect the other guests by keeping noise levels down. Parking: You can unload by the side porch entrance and then park in back field or on basketball court. Please try to avoid parking on the grass. Keep cell phone use in common areas (during breakfast and in living rooms) to a minimum.
Please flush only toilet paper, as we have a septic system.
If it looks like rain and you're going out, please shut your windows / skylights, or let me know, so I can shut them for you.
You are welcome to wander about the property. We have a chocolate lab female named Dakota, Coda "for short".. She's a sweetie. She'll be excited to meet you, but will calm down. If you are allergic, probably not good to stay here. We do keep her out of the guest rooms, but she wanders around the common areas.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
This is the place to stay if you are stoping in Cooperstown! Sandra was a welcoming and helpful host from the get-go. She gave us recommendations for food and theater, our late night arrival was eased with cupcakes, fruit, and a tour of the house. The room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. Sandra prepared a glorious breakfast spread including homemade scones and perfect omelettes. She offered wonderful company, conversation, and suggestions for unusual activities in the area.
Aria B&B was perfect for our trip to Cooperstown. The house is a gorgeous old farmhouse on a beautiful plot of land out in the country. Our room was very pretty and had a large bathroom attached. Sandy made us feel welcome with drinks, afternoon snacks, and a full breakfast each morning. She made suggestions on where to go for dinner and even made all of our reservations for us. The location was very convenient to Cooperstown. Everything was perfect all weekend.
Great place to relax and enjoy beautiful upstate NY. Sandra is very helpful and knowledgable about the area.

About the Host, Sandra
I love hosting and concurrently operate a talent agency, (and have also been a chef, scuba diving instructor and musician). I have been fortunate to live in this exquisite home with my family since 1989. We have hosted many musicians through the years, sometimes just to stay, other times to play a concert here in the house or in town, or sometimes just a stop over to gigs in other areas. The musicians have come from Scandinavia, Europe, Africa, Turkey, Latin America, South America and the US.
Guests who appreciate or participate in the Arts are most welcome here at Aria B&B. You will be well looked after.
