Our mountain retreat is close to the Pikes Peak Highway, half way up Ute Pass from Colorado Springs. The Guest House sets apart from main house. Living room, kitchen, bath. There is an outside balcony with a gas grill. A single bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. HD TV and cable, DVDs, internet WiFi. Fenced property has a security code gate, on park-like setting at 7450 feet elevation. And to relax, try our brand new hot tub!
Nearby Sights: Cave of the Winds, Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods, US Olympic Training Center, Air Force Academy, Seven Falls and Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park.
Nearby Day Trips: Royal Gorge whitewater rafting trips, horseback riding, Cripple Creek mining town & casinos, Florissant Fossil Beds and Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. Breckenridge, Monarch and Keystone ski areas are about two hours away.
There is much more with an easy drive. You don't have to twist Robert's arm very hard for him to take you trout fishing!
There is a good chance you will see wildlife from the balcony. We've seen deer, wildcat, bear, fox, coyote, birds galore, and one time we even saw a lynx right outside the fence!
Note that this is a second floor apartment accessible by a staircase. English and German spoken.
We didn't go far for this little paradise in the mountains. We only live 30 minutes away but it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere which is exactly what we were looking for. We were close enough to Colorado Springs to go downtown one night for an evening out. The rest of the time was spent indoors without any interruptions making it a very relaxing getaway. Ingrid and Robert where there to greet us when we arrived. They showed us around and made it a very easy transition for the weekend. The hot tub was fantastic and very peaceful at 11:00 pm. When we were leaving they invited us in and we had a great time getting to know them more. We plan on coming back for a visit to say hi and will certainly stay again when we want to get away for a couple days.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Ingrid and Roberts house and we could not have been happier. We were warmly welcomed and the accommodation was super neat and cosy. It had everything we needed and so much more, including toiletries and snacks, which was unexpected. The area is stunning and there is a lot to see close by. It was my first AirBnB experience and an incredibly positive experience at that. Thankyou Ingrid and Robert for your superb hospitality, we hope to see you again one day!
Our time at the Mountain Retreat was AMAZING. Such a cozy place: comfortable furniture and the temperature was perfect. It had everything you need and Robert and Ingrid provided food for breakfast! Such a great surprise. The hot tub was amazing and they even let us use their kitchen for a home made pizza - followed by their own homemade ice cream. We didn't want to leave! Thanks again for such an incredible V-day weekend!
See you soon!
WOW! where to begin? Robert and Ingrid were AMAZING hosts! We couldn't have picked a better place to spend our anniversary weekend! The accommodations were above our expectations-the apartment was stocked with food and beverages, cozy, and private. Everything was perfect!
We were invited over on Saturday night for a visit, and even though Robert wasn't feeling well he baked us a cake (Delicious!!) and Ingrid made us Apple Martinis! (also delicious!)
We had a great time chatting with them, and getting to know them, and they're adorable pets.
We spent plenty of time enjoying the hot tub in the evening, and they even supplied robes and slippers, and even had an awesome towel warmer :-)
We're planning on trying to make it back during the summer, and possibly making it our yearly anniversary retreat. It was so wonderful! I recommend it to anyone-whether you're coming from across the country, or (like us) live nearby, but just wanted to feel like we were "getting away".
Simply WOW. Words cannot adequately express what a wonderful stay we had at Mountain Retreat, but we will give it our best shot. :) Our hearts are still glowing with fond memories from the experience and look forward to returning for another stay soon! This is not 5-star hospitality... it's 100-star, and we doubt we'll ever have another Airbnb experience comparable to this (although we hope so!). Robert and Ingrid were fabulous hosts and welcomed us with the warmth of old friends. They had hearts big as houses and we cherished having them as "neighbors" for a few days! Robert and Ingrid were available for anything we needed and even invited us into their home, which afforded the opportunity to hear some great stories and get to know them better. Their two sweet doggies always greeted us at the door and curled up in our laps any chance they could. :) The accommodations and amenities far exceeded our expectations, making for a care-free, luxurious romantic getaway! As only a pair of two, we had abundant space to make ourselves at home in the Mountain Retreat. The kitchen provided all we needed for a hearty breakfast, along with the cookware to make some delicious dinners with the groceries we'd brought (which made our vacation more affordable to boot!). Our hosts gave great recommendations for daytime excursions and helped outfit us for a snowshoeing adventure. They also encouraged us to stroll through nearby Manitou Springs for lunch and shopping, which was well worth the visit. Evenings were spent sprawled out on the comfy couch with wine and a movie, or relaxing in the outdoor hot tub under the starry sky. The Mountain Retreat was in a very convenient location for us to visit friends and explore the great outdoors nearby, but still felt secluded in its own cozy spot. Every detail had been carefully thought of, right down to bedwarmers, robes and slippers! We truly did not want to leave. :) Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Robert and Ingrid! May you be blessed for the tremendous hospitality you continue to show to your guests.
Absolutely wonderful home-away-from-home option... First time AirBnB experience and it was without a doubt EXCEPTIONAL. Communication with the hosts was prompt, clear, and reassuring! The loft was very clean, well-stocked with extras, plenty warm, and extremely comfortable. My parents, my nephew, my son and I stayed for 3 nights and will definitely rent here again!!!
I can't say enough about the hosts Ingrid and Robert, simply some of the most kind people I have met. They make great hosts. The apartment did make me feel like it was a home away from home. The location is amazing, so close to everything you would want to do in the area. I can't wait to return to this BnB again.
Had a few great days at the mountain retreat. This was our first trip to Colorado and staying here made it all the more special. The apartment is great, provides everything you need to feel at home and our hosts were excellent. They gave us a lot of tips of things to see and what to do in the area. In the visitor book there are a lot of recommendations and personalized info with maps for everything from cafes to supermarkets in the area. Would stay here again next time we visit Colorado. Highly recommend the mountain retreat, couldn't be closer to Pikes Peak.
My friend and I enjoyed relaxing at Robert and Ingrid's Mountain Retreat after spending several days in Denver for a conference. The scenery around the guest house is beautiful and the hot tub (with towel warmers) was a nice treat! We enjoyed the nearby sights of Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, Cave of the Winds, and Florissant Fossil Beds. The guest house is nicely appointed and had everything we needed. Robert and Ingrid made us feel very welcome and were easily accessible. We would gladly stay here again!
Danny and I chose Robert and Ingrid's place for our honeymoon. We chose it mostly because of the beauty of the setting and were not disappointed. We wanted to relax and there were plenty of neat little nooks in the yard to do just that ! The refrigerator was FULL of goodies. There was even a lovely bottle of wine and two glasses for us. Robert and Ingrid were always asking us if there was anything we needed. The place was clean and well stocked with everything you could need. Ingrid suggested a wonderful little restaurant just down the road called Wines of Colorado. Danny and highly recommend the place. We enjoyed our honeymoon there very much and will surely spend some anniversaries there to reminisce with Robert and Ingrid, who are delightful people and hosts !! This was our first airbnb experience and it leaves big shoes to fill. We hope all of our airbnb experiences will be as wonderful !! Thanks for great memories !!
