Hip chill neighborhood with a local feel but close enough to the action that you won't be far from the party unless you want to be!
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL RESERVATIONS: I need at least 1 week notice for any reservation.
About my place:
I live in the perfect location to go to and from from the strip without having to deal with much traffic. Also, I am very close to the airport and there is a bus that goes from the airport to very close to my neighborhood. I live across from the University, which is a great campus for walking around and enjoying the breeze, and very pleasant. Some of the oldest trees in the city reside there on the north side of campus.
If you prefer, there are many bus stops that will take you to any corner of the city walking distance from my front door. Many guests have used the bus and have been extremely pleased. 5$ for an all day bus pass! The bus can take you to and from airport.
The private room available has its own PRIVATE BATHROOM with full shower and tub. There is a full size bed and a small nightstand. There is a flat screen TV and a Nintendo Wii with about 10 games for you to play when you are just hanging in the room. It also has Netflix so you can enjoy some commercial free TV time. There is Art on the walls. The room can accommodate more with my queen size air mattress i can setup for you at no additional cost. I also have a couch in the living room that sleeps two people very comfortably. I will not accept groups larger than 4 or 5.
If you are looking for a great spot to venture into Las Vegas via bicycle then look no further. You need to have your own bike or rent one from McGhies (about 50$ a day for a really really sick road bike and gets cheaper with the more days you rent). Alternatively, I have a 2 bikes, helmets, and locks should you want to rent mine for $20/day.
I am an avid cyclist and will potentially go on rides with you if my schedule allows. Also, if you wish to ride the Red Rock loop its about a 4 mile ride to catch the bus (30 minute bus ride +/- ) pretty much right up to Red Rock National Conservation Area. (Serious riders only for that ride).
I am also really well versed in the city and can answer almost all your questions. The house is about a block from all the cool beer bars and college spots but also just about 5 miles from downtown and 1 mile from the strip. No cabs needed! Just ride your bike or the bus! =)
Also it has become a tradition for everyone who stays to sign "The Guitar." It has become quite a local legend as I am a well known photographer in Las Vegas and many of my clients (some celebrity) have signed it. Most notably: Chumlee of Pawn Stars signed it when we did a photoshoot at the house. To see my work look up PhotoFM in a web search and let me know what you think! : )
My wife and I do live in the place, and you will see us from time to time. If you happen to stay on a day where I am working at home, I will be around most of the day but will keep to myself. I am usually up for a trip to a local pub for a beer or two should you need someone to keep you company! :)
The University Crest is an interesting melting pot of a few various types of people: hip & young college types, dog walkers, the occaisional family, but not alot of little kids running around. Most people in my neighborhood keep to themselves, and its 99% of the time very quiet and peaceful. There is a small park next to the pool that i have a key for that is great for barbecueing and relaxing on some nice grass under a tree. A true hidden Vegas gem!
Fred and Erin were great hosts! They could not have been more solicitous or helpful. Fred was going to CES too and gave me a ride each morning. They were always looking for new ways to help, recommend or direct. It was more like staying with friends than being hosted.
The room was exceptionally comfortable, spacious and private. It was everything I was looking for.
I would happily share time with them againmand be grateful for the chance to do ti.
First, Fred was extremely knowledgeable about Vegas. Upon his recommendations, we ate at some great places, enjoyed the strip, and had a great time downtown. This is, in my opinion, the best reason to stay with Fred.
Secondly, his house was perfect for our needs. Private room, private bathroom, nice couch ( very comfortable) and wonderful host. If you stay here, make sure you consult Fred and his infinite wisdom of Vegas.
Fred was very friendly and gave us a lot of great suggestions about places to eat and go. We had a very nice stay with him. The house was clean and in a good location as well.
Fred and his wife are amazing. They helped me a lot, with transportation, places to go, how to get there. I wish I could be stayed more with them. The bedroom is huge, with a great bed and a private bathroom. Certainly, next time I travel to Las Vegas, I'll be with them.
Fred is a gracious host, easy going and quite helpful about how to negotiate Las Vegas. The U is just around the corner, and also a plethora of international restaurants. It is less than 10 min by bus to downtown. Very quite and safe feeling neighborhood. Fred also cooks a delicious chili! -Bruce
Fred was a great host. He was very friendly and helpful, both before and during my visit. He had great tips for "locals" places to visit in the neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again.
Simple and clean - a very warm airbnb experience. Fred and his fiance are absolutely lovely, and were very patient with my hectic travel schedule. A stress-free stay in Vegas!
Nice pad, very close from the airport. I had a great night and the room was huge and comfy. Personal bathroom too. Recommend it!
Fred is a top notch host. He's up-front, honest, and easy to be around. The place was roomy, clean, and comfortable and very conveniently located. So glad to have found him.
