Apartment - Entire home/apt · East 10th Street, New York, NY 10003, United States

The Space

In the heart of the east village (And actually the heart; e10th between 1st and 2nd Ave) is a Studio that can suit 2 people nicely and an aero-bed for an additional 2. Every thing you could need for a trip to the city. A nice, quiet, clean place with Wifi and a view from the 4th floor.
A table to eat and kitchen to cook (however one of NYC's best restaurants is literally across the street) This place is cheap and cheerful and ready to go!!
The queen sized bed is memory foam and the the kitchen has it everything you need while on holiday, a kettle and a sink! And also a refrigerator and a hob and cutlery etc..
Perhaps the best reason, and this is why I live here is I am steps to union sq. 14th street L to Brooklyn, St. Marks, cooper union, the lower east side, and everything this BOHO neighbourhood has to (website hidden) There is a nominal cleaning fee due on check out for the cleaner in cash, $50.

Getting around

a few streets way from both the L train and union square N/R/Q/4/5/6 trains

  • The name of the space doesn't lie. Great location in the East Village (momofuku noodle bar around the corner, come onnnn!) The space was nice and simple and catered to any need we had. All around a great stay in New York.

  • Great location and loads of space!

  • The Good:
Location, location, location. It's really centrally located, you can walk to SoHo shopping area, Chinatown, and of course the East Village itself is great for wandering around. Momofuku noodle bar is right around the corner, there are also 4 Japanese restaurants right across the street from the apartment. Matthew provides extra beddings and an airbed (which I personally don't find very comfy), you can easily sleep 4 people in this apartment.

    The Bad:
My biggest disappointment was how moldy the bathroom tub was. You can see the black and green mold on the bathroom photo. I'm normally not super picky, that that amount of mold is just simply not acceptable. And since the bathroom is TINY, it's hard to ignore the mold. The main living area is relatively clean, but I can't say the same for the kitchen. Another thing is the noise level, which is quite common in Manhattan. If you can't sleep through sirens and cars and people yelling, then this place is probably not for you.

I didn't meet Matthew because he was out of town. His partner, Charles, was helping us and was very communicative.

I would only recommend this Airbnb if you're more than 3 guests and are on a tight budget.

    Response from Matthew:

Zhen, I'm terribly sorry you had such a rough time at my home. I fully acknowledge that apt is not new and this is reflected in the price. I'm also sorry you found it loud but I'm afraid that is part of NYC life, as is the size of the apt. I might suggest that you are better suited for a hotel that can better cater to your demands.

  • Great location, cute place. Great host! Warm welcome with cookies and some fruit :)

Check in was very clear and simple. Really helpful and good communication.

Would definitely come again! THANK YOU, C!

  • Great place to stay. Cheap, clean, and great location. Entry into the apartment was smooth and easy. Apartment was a bit noisy due to neighbors and street traffic, but if you are a medium-heavy sleeper, should be no problem.

Did I mention how amazing the location is, cause it really is! I would stay again for sure..

  • My girlfriend and I brought another couple with us so there were 4 of us. The apartment is very cute and perfect amount of space to keep cozy and share sleeping quarters. The blow up mattress was actually very comfortable. We were there for NYE and the day after and it was actually a very quiet building. The lady below us complained of noise even though we didn't think we were being loud (we were only playing music off of an iphone). Sorry lady. :( The location was amazing. Parking was easy with a garage a block away. We wish one of us brought a laptop for entertainment. I don't know the situation with the housekeeping, but we did run out of toilet paper. We put all of the dirty sheets and towels in a pile for her. Maybe housekeeping needs to be reassessed. Otherwise, the apt appeared clean and we really enjoyed ourselves. Matt was responsive as he could be considering that he was out of town.

  • The apartment is in a great location. However, when we arrived, there were no towels and toilet paper. The sheets did not look like they had been cleaned. We had to buy towels/sheets and T paper. The bath tub drain was full of hair as well. Unfortunately Matthew was out of town and could not help.... I think he needs a new housekeeper...
