The Space

Come and see what's happening at McKenna's, our big (sometimes busy!) house in beautiful Leitrim. There are several comfortable private rooms with a choice of double, single or twin. The bedrooms are fully furnished with bedding and towels. There is a large shared kitchen, a shared living room and 3 bathrooms.
We are currently working on the garden and yard area at the back of the house which has lots of potential but is going to take a bit of elbow grease!

Guest Access

Please note: we are currently only taking bookings up to one month in advance.
Guests will have access to the kitchen, living room, bathrooms and outside area. The house has free wifi. Guests will get a key to their room and to the front door so they can let themselves in and out when suits. There is a clothes washing/drying machine which can be used for an extra donation.

Interaction with Guests

There will usually be other guests and residents in the house for you to meet. We often cook, eat, drink (and dance!) together. A catered breakfast can sometimes be provided for an extra cost. Sometimes we go on trips to the mountains, lakes or sea together!
See more on our social media page under 'mckennasmainstreet'.

The Neighborhood

McKenna's is on the Main Street of Manorhamilton, which is a small Irish town town, typically with lots of pubs! Go across the road to Biddys for a Beamish or down to Heraghtys for a Guinness! We also have all the other important things office, community centre, a small supermarket, art gallery and sculpture centre, the Glens Centre (our local music and theatre venue). On a short car trip you can see lots of beautiful lakes, mountains, megalithic tombs and waterfalls.

Getting around

Manorhamilton is located along the N16 from Sligo to Enniskillen. There are 3 public busses per day with Bus Eireann which run on the Westport - Belfast route 66. For public transport from Dublin it is best to take the train or bus from Dublin to Sligo and then a connecting bus to Manorhamilton. However, the latest bus from Sligo leaves at 3.45pm, be sure to check up-to-date timetables:

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Un petit coin très agréable, dans cette grande maison.
Nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis avec un thé avant de découvrir notre chambre. Hedda et Phoebe ont pris le temps d'échanger avec nous et de nous conseiller sur les visites.

  • This guesthouse is fairly basic but is very reasonably priced and in a good location, close to cafes, pubs and a supermarket.

    Response from Hedda & Phoebe:

We are sorry that June's stay was not as comfortable as it should have been. The weekend June and her partner arrived, a small group of us from the house had been invited on a trip which lasted longer than we expected. We were there to meet them but unfortunately had to leave soon after. Normally we are in the house when guests stay so that we can give them any info or extra things that they might need. We are fairly new to AirBnB and are learning as we go along! Thanks for the feedback!

  • I had a wonderful stay here. The Parlour is the perfect hybrid of hostel and guesthouse: private rooms but with communal kitchen space and a warm community feel. Hedda and Phoebe are lovely and helpful—they'll offer you something to drink when you arrive, ask if you have everything you need, and suggest activities that might interest you (check out the theatre by the way, it's wonderful!!) This is a nice alternative to the typical Irish B&B experience, especially if you're a younger or more independent traveler, and I found it to be an excellent value as well.

  • This is simple, but entirely adequate budget accommodation in a beautiful Georgian town house. There is a spacious kitchen for making your own dinner/breakfast, which we didn't use. The room was clean and had a washbasin, which was handy, and a very comfortable bed (great mattress). Hedda, who was a friendly host, gave us an extra blanket and a heater for our room, as it was a cold day. We got a very good night's sleep.

  • We loved staying at the Hedda and Phoebe's place. The bedroom was comfortable and warm and clean, and the sitting room and kitchen were very nice to lounge in. We were offered a nice cup of proper coffee upon our arrival.
    Thank you!

  • We experienced a warm welcome from the moment we arrived at the "Artist's residence & guest house" - which is located in a beautiful Georgian house in the Main Street of Manor Hamilton. We were immediately given a much appreciated cup of tea & a delicious home made cake.
All the Residents - including Dante the Cat - were friendly & relaxed & we were given a fascinating tour of the talented Artists' Studios & works of art. This is an ideal place to stay if you are interested in art & sculpture.
We were given keys for our room & the front door which was very convenient as we were in & out during the day & evening. We had use of the large drawing room next to our room & we could light a fire in the grate if we liked or we could go downstairs & join the residents around their fire in their sitting room. We were allowed to use the kitchen & could cook & store our food there. There was a choice of 2 bathrooms to use - so no queuing. We liked the fact that we were not called for breakfast & could prepare our own, could stay in the house during the day & did not have to be back before a certain time in the evening. Our room had a new mattress which was very comfortable, a wardrobe, a desk & a sink.
There are lots of pubs in the main street & we would say that "Gurns" was friendly & served good value food. There is a lovely Library & a Supermarket close by. We would highly recommend staying at the "Artist's residence & guest house.
