The space
Warmest welcome to Mountain Laurel Farm. The setting is peaceful, away from city life, yet only minutes to adorable Alpine Helen or Cleveland for convenience.

This Farmhouse & Former Caretaker House is sanitized by Airbnb standards & vacant at least 48hrs before your arrival.

The Farmhouse is circa 1914 with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. There is a large dining room and breakfast room open to big white kitchen with an island, sun room and the formal living room both have comfortable seating, delight in the majestic mountain views and wildlife of the back deck. Play a board game or favorite card game while deciding what next to do during your stay in the North Georgia Mountains. The elegant formal living room holds the historical story of the property and you can cozy up with a book from the small library nook or relax front porch or dine al fresco. Delight in the majestic mountain views and wildlife of the back deck.

Retire for the evenings in four beautifully decorated bedrooms, each with unique themes. One of which has a story of fame. Arise in the morning to coffee and the breathtaking mountain views and take a short walk to the creek and view the barn (now wedding reception space) if open. The farmhouse also has 2 large bathroom suites (one downstairs & one upstairs) the upstairs has a spa tub with Mountain View.

Surrounding this picturesque haven of Mountain Laurel Farm, are nearby Cleveland, home of the Cabbage Patch Kids, and Alpine Helen, for a unique shopping experience & other fun activities and nature.

The list of area activities is endless: Wine tours, Biking at the nearby Yonah preserve, tubing, horseback riding, zip lining, fishing, canoeing, panning for gold, hiking to waterfalls, are just to name a few.

Also find delightful cuisine in Helen as well. Ranging from Authentic German to traditional Southern, and in between. The Georgia Wine Highway takes off in each direction from the farm, from Helen to Historic Dahlonega. Tours of the wineries and tastings are offered year round.

Our summers are perfect for nature hikes to waterfalls, mountain biking, zip lining, tubing , horseback riding, mini golf, fly fishing...you name it! Specialty shopping, museums, crafts, etc. are minutes away in Alpine Helen as well.

And not to forget, Octoberfest there beginning in early September thru the end of October annually. A must experience!

The winter season is all about enjoying a Christmas away to remember with our Christmas decor and Pencil tree topping the ceiling in the family living room and add your gifts around it. If old man winter sees fit, a "white Christmas" may be possible.

Spring brings a fresh awakening of native beauty such as orange blossoms of wild azaleas, the pink clusters of abundant Mountain Laurel and vibrant Rhododendron. Ideal temperatures for enjoying natures wonders in the great outdoors.

Come indulge in our peace, and tranquility of the "Southern Charm" experience of days gone by at Mountain Laurel Farm.

Beautiful scenic area. 2.2 miles from Smithgall Woods State Park & Dukes Creek Falls & Rabun Cliff Falls. 5 miles from Helen, GA. 7 Miles into the town of Cleveland that has an Ingles Grocery, Walgreens, fast food, Wal-mart, etc.

Our home was featured in the "You've Come A Long Way Baby" ad campaign for Virginia Slims cigarettes years ago.
Also, a famous actress (Susan Hayward) stayed at the farm numerous times while filming the movie, "I'd Climb the Highest Mountain" in 1956. She loved the farm and also bought some cattle from the farm to go on her farm in Carrolton, GA.
