The cabin was the perfect place from which to explore the Smokeys. It's a great place and all communication with Valerie was a absolutely smooth. I'd definitely stay there again.
Everything was just as descrbed when we booked. The neighborhood was fairly quiet a very peaceful place for our vacation. The directions were excellent and everything was clean and tidy. We had a great time on a vacation that was needed.
Perfect getaway from the city. Loved the privacy, grilling, having a fire, the pond, and hottub. Nicely furnished and comfortable. Close to town and the Foodmart (5 min drive). Close to great hiking. Very pleasant experience. Thank you, Valerie!
Amazing host ! Highlight of my trip! Ready to go back! Best ever!
The Fishing Hole cabin is perfect. Valerie has decorated just as you would expect a mountain cabin to be. It is very well maintained and clean. The moment you walk in you feel at home. This is the perfect spot to call home when visiting the Smokies.
The neighborhood is quiet for the most part. A few cars go by in the morning with folk heading off to work. Wave to them as you sit on the front deck rocking chairs with a nice cup of coffee. Then off to find your own adventures.
The evenings give you the songs of tree frogs as you relax in the discreetly placed hot tub. Relax your muscles from hiking, have a beverage of your choice and enjoy the cool mountain air.
The fishing pond itself is pretty small but it has plenty of Blue Gill, Crappie and a few Bass. We also saw one very large Cat Fish trolling the lake one evening.
Whatever your reason for visiting Gaitlinburg I recommend this sweet little cabin. Valerie makes you feel very welcome. If you will be arriving late she will leave the light on for you. The Fishing Hole is a splendid retreat. You won't be disappointed.
Our experience with Valerie was seamless! We made a last-minute reservation (two days prior) upon deciding to take a detour to the Smokies from Nashville. Valerie's responses were quick and professional and it is clear that she not only takes a lot of pride in her property but that she also enjoys hosting guests. Her welcome email provided all of the detailed information that we could have needed. She left the lights on for us because we arrived after dark. I loved the cabin, it was cozy, tastefully decorated and comfortable. It was rustic with all of the niceties one could need for a mountain stay. We would definitely recommend to a friend and will look to stay there again - I am sure all of Valerie's properties are just as wonderful as this one.

About the Host, Valerie
Hi, I was born & raised in Chicago area (Bensenville) & my parents bought a campground in Pigeon Forge where they moved me & my sisters here as a teenager. I know now, (not so much then) this is where I was meant to be. Gods country, as I and many call it here. I very rarely leave Gatlinburg, I love mountain living, I have 3, 1 bedroom nightly rental cabins that I clean & maintain (calling in the pros for repairs & some service). One on my rental cabins has it's own private swimming pool another has a it's own private fishing pond and the third is my crown jewel with awesome views....all are located on large lots (1 acre) on the same road.
I've worked in the 'hospitality' field since moving here, 30 years now & counting. I like to offer a 'Bed & Breakfast' feel to my renters without the 'Inn Keeper' or 'Breakfast'. All are furnished with luxury linens, nicer towels, the best paper products and a personal touch. I'm also a CPO (certified pool/spa operator) so know you will have nice safe soaks too! They are not far from where I live which has allowed me to live a really neat lifestyle that I love and feel blessed to have. It is difficult to make a living in Gatlinburg, there are mostly min wage positions here & that is why not many people get to live here. So if your visit is 2 nights or a week, I hope you get a chance to soak up the true essence of the mountains and the wilderness that still exists here. p.s. The bears just want your trash, not you & I hope you get to see one or two! (our black bears are vegetarians unlike the grizzlies out west however, stay clear of momma with cubs, they get protective, wouldn't you?!)
