I'm a contemporary dancer and yoga teacher, my home is colorful and vibrant, in a beautiful bohemian neighborhood between San José and San Pedro, 15 min walking distance from downtown, close to art & cultural centers and teathers, lots of nice cafes, bars, art galleries and restaurants.
You are welcome to join on my yoga or dance classes with a big friends discount :)
I'm very friendly, I like having dinner and drinks with friends, you're welcome to join us anytime but I also respect and appreciate privacy
Barrio Escalante is a great neighborhood, full of cafes, bars & restaurants for people all ages, supermarkets very close by, organic market every saturday just a few blocks from home, overall a vibrant and renovated place to live.
Taxis are around 2000 colones from downtown ($4), there's a train station under 10 min walking distance with trains to Heredia, Cartago and Pavas. The barrio Escalante bus passes by every 15 minutes from and to San José.
Wow Paula goes above and beyond to welcome you and help get you pointed in the right direction. She is a warm host who I can now call a friend. Her beds are comfy and her place is made to feel like home.
Paula's place was exactly what i needed in beteeen my travelling adventures! I so enjoyed my petfect little space upstairs - clean, spacious, bright and so relaxing and peaceful. Paula was so lovely and made me feel so welcome in her home and was there to help whenever needed. The area is great with lots of little restaurants around and the centre of town a short stroll away also! I was lucky enough to be there on saturday morning and got to head on down to the local farmers markets which had so much fresh produce and some awesome little stalls. Highly recommend! You will not be disappointed with your stay with paula in her nice home.
Paula was extremely nice and friendly. We only had the chance to chat with her a little, but she made some really good suggestions of places to eat and drink and things to do in her neck of San Jose. The house is cute and home-y, exactly as pictured. The room was quiet and peaceful, and the bed was comfy. Only wish we had gotten the chance to take one of her yoga classes!
Paula was so great! She was immediately welcoming and so helpful within just meeting her. Very unique person with a natural kind heart. We only stayed here one night before our flight out of San Jose. Before coming in, she even sent an email with very helpful directions. The neighborhood was okay, but better than most of San Jose. There really isn't anywhere 100% safe to walk around at night in San Jose. She is pretty central to everything though, just 20 minutes walk from downtown and a couple blocks away from a huge grocery store and some cafes/restaurants. She even recommended to us some festivals and markets going on nearby, which allowed us to maximize our short time in the city. The Farmer's Market was GREAT! I highly recommend it if you are there on a Saturday morning. The room was very clean, the décor was so cute! Everything you needed. The only thing was that I wish I had more time to take a yoga class with Paula!
Nice place, the room is very comfortable.
Perfect host, Paula is very welcoming and helpful, you really feel like home. Highly recommended!
Paula is a total cutie! Quite gracious and upbeat. She even fed me all sorts of new tropical fruits! We used her space as a place to rest and recover from our travels (and food poisoning) and the hammock in the bedroom offered a great place to relax (she had a few good novels available in english, spanish, and french). We got to use the yoga room/dance studio whenever there wasn't a class, which was most of the time. One note about San Jose in general: because there aren't gates on the train tracks, the commuter train (runs M-F) is required to honk now because too many people were getting hit. (Really? apparently.) We were very far away from the trains but we could still hear the honking in the morning. Bring some earplugs if you like to sleep in. (Keep in mind, this good advice for anywhere in Central America!) When you pick a place to stay in San Jose, don't pick one that is near the tracks. Paula's is not, and it was lovely.
Paula is the sweetest person and I just loved her beautiful home!!! She was so welcoming and I felt at home right away. In the morning when I had to leave and go to Manuel Antonio she gave me breakfast and helped me out with taxi and busses plus gave me alot of nice advices about Costa Rica. I can HIGHLY recommend staying with Paula :D.
Thank you Paula!! I hope to see you soon again. I already miss Costa Rica and will come back very soon :)
From the moment Paula opened the door and have me a huge welcome hug, she treated me like a long-time friend. I highly recommend staying with Paula, especially if it's one of your first few times in San Jose.
We stayed with Paula for two nights right after our arrival in Costa Rica. Pauls is a very welcoming host and her apartment is a beautiful bobo piece in a good neighbourhood. It was great to have Paula, she told us a lot about her country and gave us advice on where to go and what not to miss.
+++very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere+++
Paulas place was my first place I stayed in Costa Rica. I felt like home from the first minute. Paulas house is so beatiful with all the colours and flowers. She and her friends took care of me and we spent most of the time together. We cooked together and also I joined a yoga lesson. Paula is not only a lovely host she is also an amazing yoga teacher. I would always come back. to her place.
