I'm a contemporary dancer and yoga teacher, my home is colorful and vibrant, in a beautiful bohemian neighborhood between San José and San Pedro, 15 min walking distance from downtown, close to art & cultural centers and teathers, lots of nice cafes, bars, art galleries and restaurants.
You are welcome to join on my yoga or dance classes with a big friends discount :)
I'm very friendly, I like having dinner and drinks with friends, you're welcome to join us anytime but I also respect and appreciate privacy
Barrio Escalante is a great neighborhood, full of cafes, bars & restaurants for people all ages, supermarkets very close by, organic market every saturday just a few blocks from home, overall a vibrant and renovated place to live.
Taxis are around 2000 colones from downtown ($4), there's a train station under 10 min walking distance with trains to Heredia, Cartago and Pavas. The barrio Escalante bus passes by every 15 minutes from and to San José.
Paula is the sweetest person and I just loved her beautiful home!!! She was so welcoming and I felt at home right away. In the morning when I had to leave and go to Manuel Antonio she gave me breakfast and helped me out with taxi and busses plus gave me alot of nice advices about Costa Rica. I can HIGHLY recommend staying with Paula :D.
Thank you Paula!! I hope to see you soon again. I already miss Costa Rica and will come back very soon :)
From the moment Paula opened the door and have me a huge welcome hug, she treated me like a long-time friend. I highly recommend staying with Paula, especially if it's one of your first few times in San Jose.
Paulas place was my first place I stayed in Costa Rica. I felt like home from the first minute. Paulas house is so beatiful with all the colours and flowers. She and her friends took care of me and we spent most of the time together. We cooked together and also I joined a yoga lesson. Paula is not only a lovely host she is also an amazing yoga teacher. I would always come back. to her place.
We stayed with Paula for two nights right after our arrival in Costa Rica. Pauls is a very welcoming host and her apartment is a beautiful bobo piece in a good neighbourhood. It was great to have Paula, she told us a lot about her country and gave us advice on where to go and what not to miss.
+++very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere+++
Paula was our first host in Costa Rica, and our first experience on Air B&B... and let me tell you, it was wonderful. Even though we arrived on New Years eve and she had plans, she made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even constructed a map so we could navigate the city, and got on a self-directed tour. I also had the great fortune of being able to meet up with Paula after our stay, and I am so happy I did. She is an extremely enthusiastic and intelligent person who I can call a friend. I'd love to host her in Philadelphia.
Paula's adorable room was perfect for our quick stopover in San Jose en route to Monteverde. We were supposed to stay for two nights, but the bus we planned to take from Cahuita was full (lesson learned- always buy tickets a day in advance) so we only had one night at Paula's. She was easy to reach with this change of plans, and even though she was out of town during our stay, her neighbors were waiting for us and made us feel welcome. We were only a short walk from the Avenida Central, which we explored for hours that afternoon. We were also able to walk to the Coca-Cola bus station the next morning in less than an hour, which helped us save money on taxis. The neighborhood was safe and quiet, a perfect home base for exploring the city. The only thing I would have changed is that we didn't learn the hot water trick for Costa Rica showers until after we left, so we had cold showers that night. (We should have just asked for help, I know.)
Paula was the PERFECT HOSTESS. I enjoyed being in her studio . It was clean, neat, and full of WARMTH. The neighborhood is lovely and safe to take a walk. I will look forward to seeing her in the future.
She made suggestions for my future trips while I was in Costa Rica and this made my vacation.
Paula was a wonderful host! Our stay began with a delicious smoothie that she generously made for us. Thanks to her recommendation we had the chance to visit a nearby organic market, and she gave us great advice as we attempted to navigate minor issues we had with our rental car agency. Our room was clean and quiet and an easy, short walk to central San Jose. We enjoyed our short time at Paula's place and if we're ever in San Jose again we would definitely stay with her.
We've just moved to Costa Rica to find work as English language teachers and couldn't have wished for a better place to start our new life. Paula's been a fantastic host who has really helped us get started in Costa Rica and her home is lovely. If we need a place to stay in San Jose again, we'll definitely be asking Paula!
