We had a great Stay with Leslie and Ray! Their farm is a real hidden gem :) They do a beautiful work rescuing animals, educating people about permaculture, animal cruelty and healthy life choices. The neighborhood is not really walkable, but you are a short drive away from hip Wynwood, Buena Vista and Miami Shores. Our studio was small and simple, but clean and had everything we needed. We traveled with our 1 year old baby and she had the best time seeing the goats, playing with the cats and the chickens.

This was my 3rd time staying on the farm. That's because it's awesome! So nice to escape the city hustle and bustle with some nature and serenity. I chose the farm again knowing I would be surrounded by the community as I was traveling alone. Yet had all the privacy I needed when I wanted. The support and suggestions of the others really make your stay maximized. I highly recommend staying here.

Leslie and Ray are very welcoming hosts! The farm is oasis in a busy Miami - peaceful and calm environment. There are also bicycles to rent which is a great way to visit the city. It was a pleasure to be in the place like that!

We stayed at Leslie and Ray's place for one week and enjoyed it very much. The farm is beautiful, we loved the peaceful environment, natural elements and communal vegan potluck. However, one detail to note is that the cabin is not a detached unit since it has a shared wall. Unexpectedly we had to deal with some mice and cockroaches that awoke us various times during our stay at night but thankfully Leslie managed to give us the tools to do the job ourselves. All-in-all the stay was a tranquilly natural immersive experience filled with an ecosystem rare to ever encounter in an urban context.

First and foremost, this place is unlike anything else I think you can find so close to a huge city center like downtown Miami. My essential goal when booking was to undo a 5-day very confined-conference downtown atlanta experience, so the peaceful farm idea was very appealing. Leslie was there to greet upon arrival, and give me a tour of the farm. She was great with communication and check-in, and when I asked to check-out 30-45 minutes late she didn't have a problem with it. I would like to say to anyone traveling alone, and especially women, to research the neighborhood thoroughly(check tripadvisor), Little Haiti, where the farm is located is known for gang activity, in fact, top 3 in Miami and I didn't interpret "located in a low-income neighborhood" as anything but that. However, due to the high rate of crime in the surroundings, walking at day/night was unsafe, and I was warned to not wear any SHORTS and or revealing clothing. I took Ubers but not every Uber driver would take the call and the ones that did would not idle for too long. There was just a general tension in the car until we got out of the area. I enjoyed my time on the farm and the community feeling Leslie and her husband have built with the rescue animals and the other renters, however, without a rental car, I needed to rely on Ubers a lot, I was rather frustrated with not being able to really go anywhere on foot... like, at all. Though there wasn't really anywhere to go on foot anyway, as not many shops and or restaurants have come into the area, but even the idea of taking public transportation at night was not safe, so cost efficiency is something to take into consideration as the farm, though charming and may be a safespace unto itself, is isolated by the surrounding area which makes getting to necessities more expensive in experience. And one last thing, it IS a farm, so you can't be bothered by bugs and they are big in the South! That's part of the charm!

I moved to the farm in November, 2012, just before Ray and I celebrated our wedding in a big farm bash. Living here is delightful, waking to the sounds of roosters and turkeys. I give farm tours and nature classes at the farm and am enjoying being an airbnb host. I like joyful times shared with my family and community, including potluck vegan dinners, volleyball, lively conversations.
As a traveler I've always preferred to stay among the local people rather than in a touristy hotel. So here at the farm, I try to give guests a feeling of inclusion and an opportunity to add their own special qualities and talents to our community.
