  • Beautiful location. Had everything we needed and quite charming. Loved Loki and the chickens out back. Thanks Duane! Would definitely stay again!

  • Duane's unit was lovely. It had its own private entrance and we felt as though we had everything we could've asked for, and then some. Duane was also very open to accommodating us with anything we needed, but my boyfriend and I found the experience to be perfect. He even left a lot of literature on the area so that we would be well informed of our surroundings. I would wholeheartedly recommend the unit to anyone looking for a quiet, private place to stay in the Mad River Valley. Plus the Red Hen Bakery (an 8 minute drive away) has the best breakfast sandwiches ever.

  • My wife and I stayed at Duane's house for two nights while we skied at Sugarbush and absolutely loved the place. The house is perfectly situated for those looking to access both the local ski resorts and the greater Burlington area. The room is private, clean, spacious and very comfortable and Duane's house is located on a beautiful piece of property. The room has a separate/private entrance which is an added bonus. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this getaway!

  • Great location and great place. We did not have an opportunity to meet the host, but Duane left everything perfectly laid out for our arrival. Comfy bed, gas stove/fire, nice sky lights, privacy and easy access! I would definately stay again!!

  • Duane's place was great I highly recommend it if you are spending time in the Mad River Valley. He was there upon our arrival; although we did show up later than expected he was understanding and very friendly. He showed us into our room and gave us the run down with all the amenities and left us to our own beautiful private room. It was more than spacious with a large ceiling and 2 skylight windows. We were at Duane's during a snow storm so we did not have a view out; although with no light pollution it was be a great view to fall asleep to. Speaking of snow he also shoveled the walkway for us and made sure we were able to walk our bags in and transport with ease. Inside the house he had a coffee table set up with booklets about Vermont and a Keurig machine with 3 varieties to enjoy. The "Bear Clawed Bathtub" was great for after a long day out enjoying what Vermont has to offer, And the heated towel rack was nice as well. We stayed warm thanks to the electric wood stove and a futon with very comfortable blankets. There was also a refrigerator which was nice. Overall we had a great One day stay at Duane's and would certainly go back, consider his place and you will not be disappointed.

  • Duane was a great host. He prepared me the room earlier. The living space was clean and spacious. The place is beautiful and quiet. He has a lovely dog! I did a lot of hiking and Duane gave me good advises! I'd go back !!

  • The guest unit is really great. Very warm, clean, and comfortable. The place is a great value. Particularly notable are the small details - heat provided by a beautiful, easy-to-use gas stove, the heated towel rack, the lovely Vermont guidebook, the Keurig coffee maker. The house is located in a beautiful location, and the guest unit is semi-detached, meaning you have your own private bedroom, bathroom, and mud room . . . so it's nearly a private unit.

Upon graduation I became a volunteer educator in Alaska for two years - and stayed there for eight more years - working as a teacher, school bus driver/summer tour guide, kayak and climbing guide for a remote island school about 20 miles out in the Pacific. I recieved my masters in Psychology from the University of Victoria and my Administration degree from the University of Vermont. I live in Moretown with my two daughters and giant dog Loki. I enjoy many outdoor activities as well as hanging out, playing music and cooking at home.
